I see a lot of “favorite” this and that posts but I’m more curious to hear about other fans’ journeys through the discography. I found Opeth through Blackwater Park and would’ve bet my house at the time - and even after listening to every album - that it would remain my favorite release of and for all time.

I’ve been through phases of jamming Reveries, Watershed, Deliverance, Still Life etc but through it all BWP was my favorite and obviously categorically the best.

But damn, I think I’m glad I never made that wager, because My Arms Your Hearse has lately been giving me that same feeling I remember from the very first time playing BWP.

I’ve been running it for weeks now and I still can’t get over it. I think April Ethereal, When and Demon of the Fall > Bleak, Drapery Falls and Blackwater Park. I never thought I’d say that.

I guess they’re into Deep Purple.

Found a gem in Berlin. Yes it is an awesome prog rock album. No it's not my favourite. 🖤

I couldn't find anything on the internet, but, as an Italian I couldn't not notice what could be a tribute to the italian prog legends with the same name. Do you know anything about this?

I decided to do an opeth discography rating like it was some tv show and this was the result. I've tried not to be so personal (it's my favorite band) and not to give so much fucking blue notes but it's simply a fantastic band.

Anyways, let me know your thoughts!!

(obs: the last song on heritage is "The Throat of Winter", the last tracks on orchid and morningrise weren't reviewed because there are no studio versions of them, the black spaces are interludes).

"Harvest" has one of the most beautiful and atmospheric basslines. I felt like the slide and swell of a fretless bass would do this masterpiece justice, so I decided to record this cover.

For anyone who's learnt to play Harlequin Forest on guitar, I need some help on how to do a certain part of the outro riff. I'm not sure which tab is the most accurate - I've followed Songster's and Ultimate Guitar's, but I've also seen a YouTube video that kind of follows the former. On the Songster app, it says Harm. with three stacked diamond shapes. I'm not quite sure how to pull this off, but barring those notes doesn't sound right to my ears. And I'm using the correct tuning - DADFAE.

Wasn’t even aware it was anniversary time, but happened to finish my latest and most time-intensive Opeth VHS project. This tape has the Jens Bogren updated stereo mix from 2008, and has custom visual effects throughout the album play-through, all based on the expanded Travis Smith artwork from the same time period.
