Question 5h kills plus
Probably post number xxxx, but recently the 5h window kills everything.
I'm a casual user, that's why plus should be sufficient in a month I pay for, but I can't get things done with this ridiculous 5h limit.
If I want to use it, I don't care if the weekly (got 3 resets left, never used, as weekly is still available than sufficient) gets used up.
Just get rid of this damn 5h please.
Thanks.

It’s infuriating that I gotta trick the AI with regular chat mode. It’s like “you’re doing the same shit I was asking of you in the work tab. NO im not paying $100 a month, until this thing cleans my damn house too

Astra (medium) still consumes the 5-hour limit in under 15 minutes when tools are used.
The other models remain usable for me -but I will not use Astra again.
ChatGPT compared Astra with Opus 5.5 today for me, concluding that Opus is superior and cheaper; it suggested I consider switching from ChatGPT Plus to Claude Pro. I am not joking or paraphrasing - ask ChatGPT which model is better and cheaper and gives you more usage within the 5h windows yourself if you doubt me.
The real comparison would be GPT6.1 Sol vs Opus 5.5 and see what can do more in better quality in the 5h window…brb
Edit:
I will sum up as the answer is long and complex. Some of the more interesting paragraphs:
“Given the available evidence, I'd favor Claude Pro with Opus Medium for sustained IT administration, troubleshooting, and automation. […]
GPT-6.1 Sol remains competitive, particularly at Medium or High, and there are professional-work benchmarks where it performs better. But the direct user comparisons suggest Opus may deliver more accepted work in the same five-hour subscription window. […]
Based on what I've found so far, I'd put my money on Opus 5.5 Medium. But I wouldn't cancel ChatGPT Plus solely on the basis of a few anecdotal comparisons, especially before testing Claude's actual automation capabilities under your workload.”
My personal conclusion: I will keep my ChatGPT plus but also get a Claude pro sub for a month to compare for myself.

I don't mind it to much. It's a bit annoying, but you can schedule prompts for when the limit resets. I would rather it didn't exist but it's not that big of a deal imo.

I'm on 10 hours 45 minutes of my current goal. It has not stopped running once. I am a plus user.

I have a sneaking suspicion that people are using high or max reasoning for tasks that do not require that level of compute.

Run Astra at medium on a coding/review/computer-use task of your choice and the 5h limit will be eaten after 10-20 minutes. Every. Single. Time.

I had Luna 6 Max running for 18 hours straight on some bug fixes. The bigger models eat up the usage quickly.
