LMAO my bf does *exactly* the same thing to his ginger cat!
When he was a kitten he would literally put his whole entire head in my bf's mouth if allowed to. I don't think he's experienced the brain cell yet.

I think this is the cat equivalent of your parents saying to you "Close your mouth or you'll catch flies".
Orange: Close your mouth or you get to eat my face. :3

Oh god that reminds me of my orange tabby I had when I was a teenager. When she was a kitten she was raised by my family's two german shepherds. One day my mum came home from work only to find that she had stuck her head inside one of their mouths and was biting the dog's tongue.
My mum was unsure which was more confusing: the fact that the kitten did something that crazy or the fact that the dog allowed the cat to chew on her tongue and didn't even start crying until my mum noticed what was going on.

Oh god!
I have a snake - a ball python - and sometimes people worry like 'what if he bites you?' and I'm like ... it would be nowhere near as bad as getting bitten by a cat! (or a dog ... or even a gerbil lol)

To be fair the cat was really tiny at the time so she didn't do any actual damage, but I'm shocked the dog didn't try to shake her off or anything even if the dog loved the brat lol.
Edit: Found an old kitten imgur upload I did when Nala (the cat) passed on. She lived til the ripe old age of 21 and constantly bullied any dog my family had even though she always adored them :P.

u/Legrandloup2 May 01 '26
The pic of her curled up in the dog’s food 😭 looks like she had those dogs wrapped around her little finger

u/Deiser May 01 '26
She did! When we got Nala she was still so young that she didn't know how to jump off ledges or clean herself. The person who gave her to us claimed she was 8 weeks old even though she wasn't but we didn't know any better due to never having a kitten before.
Her first response to seeing a 135 pound long-haired dog who could've eaten her in one bite? Literally walk (NOT jump) off the table we kept her on (we worried that Alex -the dog- would hurt her even though he was nothing but a big teddy bear but better safe than sorry), walk up to him, then get licked by Alex. Nala rolled back completely soaked, and kept going back for more until she decided she had enough and fell asleep on Alex's tail. He refused to move until she woke up.
When Nala grew up, she would always sleep on the dog mattress along with the dogs and for whatever reason ANY dog we got would give her a large berth unless SHE chose to cuddle with them. When she got old she'd even groom the dogs on their snouts... then bite them if they ever had the audacity to try to pull away when she wasn't done cleaning them.
Nala definitely had orange survival instincts and for whatever reason the dogs we had would both love her too much and be scared of her too much to question her.

This is precious lol, thanks for sharing. The poor dog looked so confused
8
u/Deiser May 01 '26
He was. Eventually he figured out how to eat around her (she'd still be sleeping in the kibble until she grew a little bit), and we'd give his wet food in a separate bowl anyways. Sadly we never got a picture of it; this was years before the advent of smart phones so by the time we'd grab the camera Alex would have already stopped eating.

Maybe it a social thing amongst oranges. some orange wanna bite, some wanna get bitten.

u/Zealousideal_Sir5421 May 01 '26
My cat tried to do that for the first time the other day. Because I ate some ginger candy. Now he keeps trying to smell my breath hoping I had more

Mine tries to bite me all the time, but at least my orange one brain cell tries to be sneaky when doing it, or at least he thinks he is. But I can always tell when he decides he wants to bite because he just gets this look on his face, which I call his I'm going to bite this asshole look.

u/Hope5577 May 01 '26
Yep! Thats a signature orange look ours get when she chooses violence! One second she is a happy cuddly kitty, the next you can see the switch flip and the violence cell explodes.
1
u/Truffleshuffle03 May 02 '26
Yep when that switch gets flipped I can see that one brain cell start to slowly kick in lol.

I let my boy bite me for this exact reason. He won't stop trying until he succeeds. So I just let him bite me the first time, and it's far more gentle than if I fight him off first. He always gives kisses immediately after. He's a demon, but he's my demon and I love him.

I am kitty, you are a person. I will bite you
You bit me, what a rudy
5
u/bigwetducky May 01 '26
So this is actually an evolutionary behavior. The cat, in simple terms, wants to eat you. Thanks.

Reminds me of the stories when cats were agressive towards a body part, and it turned out that there was a tumor in it.

My void would talk all the shit to and about me and all of my ancestors. He was only serious when the claws came out and the teeth were used to cut and sever. Otherwise, he was just setting the tone and rules of engagement. He didn't lack for intelligence or personality. His wandering off while muterring was legendary.

This is why tiger people are morons! Even the best cat gets a brain blip and needs to bite sometimes.

You don't have to do anything. They let intrusive thoughts win and are determined to give you a nibble.

My orange does that, she lies down in the middle of a table and whenever I bother her she takes advantage of the fact that my knees are close enough to bite them.

maybe you have cancer on this spot. Heared stories about pets bite on the same spot because the owner had cancer there.

Oh my gawd, its me and my boyfriend! I never knew I was an orange cat xD
1
u/finfanfob May 01 '26
He seems a little over aggressive both vocally and physically. But not aggressive enough. He might have urinary problem or a stone. Probably worth exploring if this hasn't been his usual behavior over the last year. My orange gets in an aggressive mood time to time. He's young. But that sounds like frustration.

Sorry but you’re making your cat super unhappy. Grabbing him by the head like that is really not ok, no wonder he has that aggression towards you. He not dumb, he’s pissed. Play with him with some toys he can bite and attack or catnip in a kick toy.
7
u/Deiser May 01 '26
Look at the cat's tail. It's not flicking or showing any signs of agitation. Cats also make it clear when they have had enough by just leaving or being actually violent and this cat is neither leaving nor being aggressive.
Some cats can come across to strangers as being upset when they actually aren't. My previous orange cat was like that as well when she was younger. You have to read all the queues and not just one thing.
-20
u/Modo44 May 01 '26
They only understand the neck grab. Holding the head is not a teaching moment.
8
u/Deiser May 01 '26
They're clearly just playing. You even hear the person chuckling while he head-grabs. Given the cat's reaction (play-jump-attack and not running away) and the fact that his tail isn't even flicking, this is a normal occurrence between the two.
