Discussion Grief in connection with the end of the band?
Hello :)
my name is Antonia, I study sociology and I am currently working on my master’s thesis about emotional connections to celebrities. I am especially interested in disappointment, loss and grief in those relationships. As part of my research, I would like to speak to people about their personal experience in regard to the departure of Zayn and the end of the band. Therefore, I have reached out to the mods of this subreddit and received permission to ask the following questions:
If you were a fan in 2015, how did you feel about Zayn leaving the band at the time? How did it affect you in your daily life? What do you think about it now?
How did you experience the announcement of the ongoing hiatus?
Even if you do not want to answer these specific questions, please feel free to share anything you like on the topic of grief and loss! I am also open to chatting privately if you prefer to. Please just DM me!
Please be aware that I may use your responses in my thesis. This will happen anonymously and, if I were to quote them directly (which would be anonymous as well), I would reach out and ask for permission.
Thank you very much in advance for answering!

💄 Pleasing 💅🏾 Finally found it 😭
I had been trying to find this location since a week. Idk why, but it looked so good for me ever since i came across the music video. Can't tell how good i feel as i found it 44°19'49.0"N 74°07'50.8"W 😭. Just came to know that those rail tracks are now discontinued and paved to a bicycle trail💔. Was such a scenic trail, they remove a large part of it and left some for train enthusiasts. i feel kinda bad

Discussion How do you keep listening?
I haven’t been able to listen to 1D since before Liam died. I’ve tried here and there but it’s just so sad now. Not to mention all of the other things the boys went through while in the band and in the years since. I almost feel guilty for enjoying the music at one point while they were being abused. I just want to enjoy the music I used to love :(

🤡 clowning 🤡 Just realized I'd been mishearing a lyric in 'Strip That Down' this whole time
I work in retail, and lately they've been playing Strip That Down every couple of hours. Ever since the song came out, I'd asummed the lyric was "I used be in 1D, now I'm on 3" (as in, he used to be in One Direction, but now he's out of the group and moving in all three dimensions instead of just one dimension). I'd also jokingly hum to myself "used to be on one d, now i'm on 3" (as in, bouncing on...) because that's a funny sabrina carpenter-esque way of thinking about the lyric, even though I've always known by common sense that that wasn't the correct lyric.
I really only listen to the song once every few years or so on shuffle, so I never noticed that neither of those lyrics are true. This evening, I absentmindedly googled the latter phrase to see if anyone else online had the same sense of humor as me, only to realize that neither phrase exists anywhere on the internet, and the correct lyric was actually "I used to be in 1D, now I'm out free" this whole time. Consider my mind blown.

🤡 clowning 🤡 Hey guys, I fell into a coma March 24, 2015 and just woke up. Can anyone summarize what the band has been up to since then?
I haven’t googled anything yet. So excited to find out what’s been going on!

Spotify 🎵 once a directioner always a directioner
today i was with my friends and i told them how mich of a die hard directioner i used to be. that i still have every single song whether released or unreleased memorised its lyrics and music both.
they didn’t believe me and said we will test you they then put on kareoke one direction and were trying to find a song they think i wouldnt know.
they put on a song and i guessed within 2 second’s that it is girl almighty 😭😭
they were all so shocked even though this song isnt that niche. but i realised no matter how much i try i can never forget my roots.
ill always love my boys.

Fan Fic 📚 Need help tracking down an old Harry Styles fanfic, maybe titled 1+1, unknown author with a grieving Harry from 1dff.com
ISO title of an old, sad Harry Styles Fanfiction, maybe titled 1+1, unknown author with a grieving Harry.
This might sound crazy, and is likely a long shot, and possibly something that I dreamed up or am mis-remembering, but I (29F), am looking for a very tragic, sad fanfic that was originally posted on onedirectionfanfiction.com sometime between 2013-2015. I need help finding it or titling it at least.
Plot:
It goes back and forth between the present and past, and present day Harry is in therapy talking about his wife and their story. I believe it starts with us knowing she is dead, but we don't know how she died, however it is possible this is hidden from the reader until later when we find out what happened.
It starts with Harry and the FMC meeting on a train, and when they meet, he tells her she has something in her hair, and she says "oh, it's just psoriasis", or something like that, but she def said Psoriasis. I can't for the life of me remember her name anymore, but it might come to me later. They have a daughter later in the story after getting married. It feels like she had complications during pregnancy and stuff, or maybe struggled with infertility, but I can't be sure.
Eventually, in one of Harry's memories, the FMC is diagnosed with cervical cancer not long after having their daughter, or right around it, and it's really hard on her because she is super young. Then horrifically, we find out that she died suddenly a few years after the kid is born, and Harry is the one who finds her dead, I THINK from suicide, but it was unclear (and my brain was not developed when I first read this). I think he finds her out by the pool.
Either the FMC or Harry had suggested Harry and the Daughter go out to get like ice cream or cupcakes or something that day, maybe for FMC's bday? Idk, it feels like there was a birthday in this story at some point, and I feel like it was her who suggested it bc she was planning this, but can't remember. Harry had a weird feeling about leaving, but she insisted they go, and they said I love you's and goodbyes, and leave.
When they come back home, they can't find the FMC. He puts the kid down, and eventually Harry walks outside and finds her dead . After running to her, he hears or sees their daughter walking over, so he tells her to stop, tries to hide her body from their daughter, and tells the her to run and call the ambulance. Not sure how she died bc I wasn't good at reading comprehension when I read this, but I believe it was implied she killed herself, and we find out this is why he was in therapy; to come to terms with her death.
He is struggling in therapy because she didn't leave a note. The last scene is him finally finding the letter she left when he was walking outside— I think it was out by the pool, too, idk— and he makes peace with her being gone.
I bawled the whole time, only read it once, and never again. Then years later when I got the courage to look again, 1dff was gone of course, so I don't know the name of the author, and I am not certain of the title, but I could have sworn it was called 1+1 or one plus one.
Some or all of these details could be totally wrong, but I VIVIDLY remember the train, the death, and the note parts, so let me know if anyone has any ideas or memories of this or something similar too! Fingers crossed!

Discussion Niall Horan concert pit etiquette
Hello all my lovely people! In honor of our very well missed Liam, I have decided to purchase tickets to Niall Horan who has been paying tribute to Liam on his tour❤️❤️ I have VIP pit tickets at the rogers arena in vancouver and have never been to a concert with a pit before!
The tickets say that I qualify for early entry. Does this mean I can get a spot in the pit earlier but have to stay there so i dont lose it?
What if i need to go to the batheoom or get a drink? Will i lose my spot?
Do VIP people get to stand near the front of the pit? Is there a lot of pushing and spot stealing?
I know these are dorky questions but I worked very hard to pay for these tickets and I have never been privileged enough to stand in a pit at a concert so i am very excited yet very curious on pit etiquette.
Thank you all so very much in advance for your advice❤️

Video 🎥 End of an Era 🪽
Yesterday, October 16th, Niall performed End of an Era, as he does every night on tour. But knowing what that date means to so many of us, hearing Liam’s voice at the end of the song felt especially emotional.
I held up this picture of Liam while Niall was singing, and kept it up as Liam’s voice filled the arena. Looking back at this video, I don't think I'll ever be able to explain what that moment felt like.
For so many of us, One Direction was never just a band. Their music became part of our lives, our memories, our growing up. We watched these five boys become a family, and somewhere along the way, they became part of ours, too. That's why moments like this hit so deeply. We aren't just hearing a voice at the end of a song. We're hearing Liam, someone we've loved for so many years, whose absence still feels impossible to put into words.
And seeing Niall continue to perform this song night after night, with Liam’s voice included at the end, is such a bittersweet reminder that Liam will always be part of their story. No matter how much time passes, there will always be a place for him in this music and in the hearts of everyone who grew up loving them.
Yesterday, I just wanted to hold Liam up and let him be part of that moment. And knowing how many other people were carrying their own memories, their own heartbreak, and their own love for him that day makes this video mean even more to me.
Two years later, we still show up. We still listen. We still remember. And we still love him.
Forever five. Forever our Liam. 🤍🪽

Louis 💙 Louis sang My Hero tonight
In honor of Liam’s death anniversary, Louis sang My Hero by Foo Fighters tonight here in Manila. I seriously bawled my eyes out. What a tribute. And then Night Changes followed, I wasn’t okay anymore.
Thank you, Louis. You said you were vulnerable tonight, and I appreciate that you’ve always been so honest on what you feel. Liam is so so so proud of you.
You are always in my heart. Thank you for making me happy. ❤️❤️

Question 🤔 Randomly missing One Direction
I wonder if anyone else has had this happen? Not specifically to One Direction and not strictly like what happened to me.
This happened yesterday (October 16) when I randomly got a feeling of homesick to One Direction. No triggers, no seeing clips of them, or hearing their song, nothing, just miss them.
So, I spent the whole afternoon listening to each of their albums and watching The Adventurous Adventures of One Direction (absolutely LOVED it when I was a kid. Haven’t watched it or even thought of the series for a whole 14 years until yesterday).
While watching, I was curious if people watched it this year still, so I decided to scroll through the comments and saw one that says something along the lines of “2 years without Liam” (miss you, king. Rest easy up there.). It dawned on me that it was, in fact, October. I quickly searched him up and it was indeed 2 years without our Liam.
I just found it really weird how precise(?) yesterday was. To suddenly miss One Direction for absolutely no reason on the exact day Liam left without really having the knowledge of it until I searched it up to confirm…
Now, today as I go to McDonald’s after my classes, while eating, they have this shuffled playlist of like 2019-2020 trendy tiktok songs, and the first song that started to play right when I went inside was ‘That’s What Makes You Beautiful’ followed by a bunch of other songs. Never felt so… I can’t even describe it, like a warm painful nostalgia?
And when I was about to finish my meal and leave, ‘Night Changes’ played and I couldn’t help but just sit down and wait for the song to finish before leaving. It’s really weird since my area/country/idk, One Direction isn’t really commonly heard anywhere unless at the car radio.
Man… it’s like fate has a silly way of bullying you while hugging you warmly.
Not to mention, my childhood obsession of them lasted for only 2 years? I was 5 back then. They just vanished from my life for some unknown reason and I haven’t got a clue how or why. They just poofed. It’s been 12 years since I’ve properly listened to the band (not counting the solos).

Autographs ✍🏼 One Direction find
Hey!
So I found this beauty 2 years ago on eBay and I was wondering if it’s legit or not.
The seller told me it is but couldn’t give me proof of authenticity because he got it back in the day when they did fan sign events when Up All Night came out.
I know they did a lot of these events at that period but I would like to be sure.
Could anyone help pls? :)
