Monthly Buy, Sell & Break Rule 3 Post

On occasion we, the mod team, get requests for things that would break rule 3 (no solicitation). At other times people just break the rule and we have to remove the post. So, in this monthly post you get to break rule 3 and sell yourself or your stuff (within the realm of legality).

Some reminders/ground rules:

Rule 2 still stands, nothing illegal.

Rule 4 still stands, no personal information.

More on rule 4; if you want to send someone to your house or go to someone's house and need their address then keep it in private messages. Or stick to the basic internet rule; meet in a public place.

Unless you're an actual business don't give out your phone number or email address. If you post a phone number or email address and your post doesn't show up it's because the auto-mod caught it and one of the moderators will have to approve it.

So that's about it, if you have any questions go ahead and ask.

If you want to continue advertising your business/services outside of this thread you can buy adspace from Reddit, which is usually what we end up telling people to do.

Voting information at https://www.vote.org/state/nebraska/

If anyone wants to know about Raciot, as he is probably the least well known, he was RNC chair from 2001 to 2003, he was Censured in 2023 by the Montana GOP for endorsing Biden’s re-election campaign before he dropped out, though he has been a never trumper since Jan 6.

Local Question Winchester’s?

I’ve never been to this place, but every time I drive by there it is packed. It looks like a fun “hole in the wall” dive-type of bar that I’d go to in my 20s. I figured it would be packed tonight for the game, but the place is dark and I peeked at a plywood sheet covering the door with a spray-painted “closed” sign. There was more on the sign, but I couldn’t see it while driving. I’m curious if anyone knows what happened, and what it was like before it closed. Was it a fun place?

Local Question Any good jewelry shops for custom jewelry or big selection for wedding rings?

Hi everyone

I finally am prepared to do something I never thought I'd be in a position to do - propose. I don't have a lot of friends and no one to ask this IRL and I am completely clueless about the process and details, so if any of kind strangers here could help I would appreciate that.

We have an idea about having matching rings with black gold and our birthstones - Ruby for her and Sapphire for me, no diamonds or anything. I know its a pretty specific request, I was wondering if anyone is familiar with some places that have big selection and that you enjoyed shopping at, or some local place that can do custom jewelry upon request - either modifying or from scratch (if this is even a thing). I am not rich by any means so budget friendly is preferred, but I also am prepared to spend as much as it takes on it, so suggestions of all caliber are welcomed!

I also will welcome any online shops suggestions if you used one, even if it is not local.

Thank you for any and all suggestions. I also am flexible on the request - black gold is not necessary, so if you know any shops that you liked personally or heard good things about I'd love that recommendation as well, even if they don't have that specific thing. I am just looking around for anything remotely close.

Thanks for helping me on this important precipice of new chapter of my life!

Hi! Curious for everyone’s recommendations here! I’m planning a nice relaxing staycation for an upcoming anniversary. Location doesn’t matter as much as the quality/feel of the hotel itself. Where should I book?

Other Do NOT use Roto-Rooter Omaha

We were one of the many people that experienced flooding from the city sewers backing up. We called multiple companies to come out and give us an estimate of the cleanup and the first one to reach us was Roto-Rooter.

They did a quick evaluation, called our insurance (we were eventually denied), and said they would send at least two people to move the furniture out and clean-up the basement. Most things were salvageable, we just needed to replace legs, as we were lucky and only got 2 inches of water/sewage.

Oct 2 a single man shows up at 5:03pm and leaves 6:58pm - he did not move any of the furniture out before cleaning, splashed and covered all of the stuff that was not damaged with sewage from the hose/spray that he was using. All large objects still had sewage under them, with the rugs.

We then hear nothing from them on when they will finish the job, multiple days go by, we can't even get the photos they took to show the damage they caused. Finally the rep that came to the house the first day to evaluate tells us that he can't answer his phone anymore because Roto-Rooter has him out in the field cleaning, rather than helping customers. He straight up tells us that we should probably find another company because they are not going to get to us very quickly to finish the job they started. They hadn't even got us the estimate for the job yet by this point. Most likely we are figuring he didn't even reach out to our secondary flood insurance like he said, since every response was 2 days later.

Finally on 10/6 we get the estimate for $6321.13 , by this time we had already contacted a different company Servpro, so we told them come get your equipment, we are done with you, you have done nothing, and your rep is even telling us to get far far away from you.

Servpro came out 10/6, they were disgusted with what Roto-Rooter left us with, and by 10/8 they had the entire place cleaned and stripped out, for 4500. They had a 4 man crew, and they did everything we asked of them.

Today, we just got a bill from Roto-Rooter for $2,327.70. They charged us for 4 hours of labor for equipment setup and takedown. The guy was only here for two hours, and Servpro had to remove their equipment from the basement to actually clean.

So, if you want to know what kind of service you get from Roto-Rooter Omaha, here is some visuals of what that will get you - Pictures with furniture moved was after Servpro started moving items out. They had me come take photos, because they knew Roto-Rooter would do this to us, and they wanted us to have evidence before they cleaned it up of how little was done.

📢 OMAHA, NE: Looking to fight authoritarianism and stand up for democracy?

❌👑 Attend NO KINGS: Vote Early on Saturday, October 17, 2026 from 11 AM - 2 PM at Gallagher Park (52nd & NW Radial Hwy)

On October 17, the Omaha No Kings Coalition will host our 4th NO KINGS rally, joining hundreds of communities across the country in standing up for democracy. This time there will be a special emphasis on protecting voting rights, empowering disenfranchised voters, and helping as many folks as possible to VOTE and VOTE EARLY. As always, we will have music, inspiring speakers, live performances, local organization booths, multiple donation drives and mutual aid projects, and plenty of other ways to get involved!

“No Kings" is not and has never been just a cute protest slogan--this event is an invaluable opportunity to connect with others in your community, exercise your first amendment rights, discover local organizations doing amazing work, volunteer with new or ongoing activism projects, build or expand community defense and mutual aid networks, become more educated on different political and social justice issues, and brainstorm ideas on how to make our country (and the world) a better place.

Let's make this our most rewarding and productive No Kings event yet! 🎉

Local Question Aging Adult Fitness Options?

I have been trying to find some training options for my aging parents to work on their strength. Does anyone have any specific gyms, trainers, or classes they could recommend?

They would be pretty beginner. Early 70s in age. If it’s in the Northwest area of town that would be even more helpful. Thanks!

ISO/Suggestion Any asphalt running tracks around central/midtown omaha?

• Upvotes

Looking for some tracks that are open to the public. Anyone know of any around benson, Dundee, or Aksarben ideally? I know westside has one but can't imagine schools like that (or any schools really) are open to the public.

Anyone know of options? Just looking to get more into running outdoors but concrete has been a little harsher on the legs
