The Comex has 100M oz. of registered silver available for sale. At $57 an oz., that’s $5.7B worth of silver. Meanwhile, there are 112,000 silver futures contracts outstanding, representing 560M oz. of silver. X post by MBAeconomics @MBAeconomics1.

• Upvotes

That means registered inventory covers just 18% of the silver represented by futures contracts.

For less than $6B, a nation-state or billionaire could theoretically buy up the entire registered silver inventory on the Comex.

The disconnect between paper exposure and physical supply poses a serious systemic risk if market participants begin demanding delivery.

🚨 THE WORLD'S BIGGEST BANKS ARE CRASHING, AND IT IS A MAJOR WARNING FOR STOCK MARKETS. X post by Catherine Austin Fitts @austin_fit76995.

Banking stocks across the U.S., Europe, and Asia have fallen 15% to 30% from their recent highs, while major stock indexes are still trading near record levels.

Look at the damage among America's largest banks:

• Bank of America: -24.5%
• Capital One: -25%
• Goldman Sachs: -24%
• Morgan Stanley: -19%
• Wells Fargo: -18.5%
• Citigroup: -15%
• JPMorgan: -11%

And the situation in Europe is even worse.

• Société Générale: -27%
• BNP Paribas: -24%
• Barclays: -23%
• Deutsche Bank: -21%

In Asia, the selling has been just as aggressive.

• Bank Central Asia: -29.6%
• Shinhan Financial: -20.7%
• KB Financial: -20.6%
• HDFC Bank: -19.1%
• Commonwealth Bank: -18.7%

In the U.S. alone, banks are sitting on $326.7 BILLION in unrealized securities losses.
Before the 2000, 2008, and 2020 stock market crashes, the KBW Bank Index peaked months before the S&P 500.

The biggest warning right now is that banks across multiple major economies are already in correction territory, while the rest of the market is still behaving as if nothing is wrong.

Silver Is Having Its Moment: What Investors Should Know Before Buying a Silver ETF. X post by ETV Bharat / Advertorial Team. “A Silver ETF may not perfectly replicate silver’s performance because of expenses, transaction costs, and other factors.” MotherSilverApe Comment: Solid silver savings win!

Post image

Silver has become an increasingly visible part of the investment conversation in 2026. Unlike gold, which is primarily viewed as a store of value, silver has a dual identity. It is both a precious metal and an industrial commodity, with applications across electronics, solar technology and manufacturing.

A silver ETF lets investors invest in silver without buying physical bars or coins. An ETF remains a market-based product. Investing in an ETF carries risks. The ETF's value fluctuates, tracking differences occur, and many other factors affect its returns.

Before investing, it helps to understand how a Silver ETF works, what drives its performance, and what risks you should consider.

What Is a Silver ETF?

A Silver ETF is an exchange-traded fund designed to track the domestic price of silver. Instead of purchasing physical silver, investors buy units of the fund through a stock exchange.

SEBI’s framework requires Silver ETFs to invest predominantly in silver and silver-related instruments, with at least 95% of assets generally allocated to these investments. The remaining portion may be held in permitted instruments such as debt and money-market securities.

This structure gives investors exposure to silver prices through a regulated investment vehicle, without the practical concerns of storing physical metal.

Why Is Silver Getting Attention in 2026?

Both investment demand and industrial consumption influence Silver’s price. This makes its market behaviour different from assets whose demand comes primarily from investment or jewellery.

Industrial applications include electronics, solar-related technologies and various manufacturing processes. As industrial activity shifts, demand for silver can change too.

At the same time, investors may turn to precious metals during economic uncertainty, shifting inflation expectations, or currency movements.

These multiple demand drivers can create opportunities, but they can also make silver prices volatile. A strong rise in silver prices does not guarantee that the trend will continue.

How Does a Silver ETF Work?

When you purchase a Silver ETF, you buy units that trade on a stock exchange rather than taking possession of physical silver.

The fund seeks to track the domestic price of silver, but its return may not match the metal’s price movement exactly. Expenses, transaction costs, cash holdings, and portfolio management can create differences between the ETF and its underlying benchmark.

This is why investors should examine a fund’s tracking error and tracking difference before investing.

The ETF’s market price can also temporarily trade above or below its net asset value (NAV), depending on market demand and liquidity.

What Drives Silver ETF Returns?

The biggest factor is the movement in silver prices. If silver prices rise, a Silver ETF will generally benefit, although expenses and tracking differences can affect the final return.

Currency movements are another factor. International silver prices are generally quoted in US dollars, while Indian investors invest and receive returns in rupees. Changes in the rupee-dollar exchange rate can therefore influence domestic silver prices.

Interest rates can also affect precious-metal demand. Because silver does not generate interest or dividends, interest rate changes can affect its relative attractiveness.

Industrial demand remains important as well. Developments in sectors such as electronics, renewable energy and manufacturing can affect the demand outlook for silver.

What Are the Risks of a Silver ETF?

The most obvious risk is price volatility. Silver prices can move sharply in response to global economic developments, commodity-market conditions, currency movements and changes in investor sentiment.

There is also tracking risk. A Silver ETF may not perfectly replicate silver’s performance because of expenses, transaction costs, and other factors.

Liquidity is another consideration. Although ETFs trade on stock exchanges, individual funds can have different trading volumes and bid-ask spreads. A wider spread can increase the effective cost of entering or exiting an investment.

Investors should therefore look beyond recent returns when evaluating a Silver ETF.

How to Evaluate a Silver ETF

Start with the fund’s investment objective and portfolio structure. Check how closely it has historically tracked its benchmark and review its tracking error.

The expense ratio is another important factor because recurring fund expenses can affect long-term returns.

Investors should also consider assets under management and trading liquidity. A fund with limited trading activity may have a wider bid-ask spread, which can affect transaction costs.

The fund’s disclosures, portfolio details, and scheme-related documents can provide additional information about how silver exposure is maintained.

Most importantly, avoid selecting a fund simply because silver has recently delivered strong returns. Past performance does not guarantee future results.

Silver ETF vs Physical Silver

A Silver ETF can eliminate several practical concerns associated with physical silver. Investors do not need to arrange storage, safeguard the metal, or independently verify its purity.

Physical silver, however, provides direct ownership of the metal. You may buy it for personal use, gifting, or long-term physical possession, while an ETF is primarily a financial investment designed to provide price exposure. The choice therefore depends on why you're buying silver.

Should You Invest in a Silver ETF?

Investors looking to add commodity exposure to a diversified portfolio may consider a silver ETF. However, it should not automatically become the centre of an investment strategy simply because silver prices are attracting attention.

Consider your investment horizon, risk tolerance, existing commodity exposure, and ability to handle price fluctuations.

Before investing, review the ETF’s expense ratio, tracking error, liquidity, bid-ask spread, and portfolio structure. Also consider whether the investment fits your broader asset-allocation strategy.

If you use an online trading app, check the ETF’s current market price and available liquidity before placing an order.

The Silver Story in 2026

Silver’s appeal comes from its unusual combination of precious-metal and industrial demand. That gives it several potential price drivers, but it also exposes investors to significant fluctuations.

A Silver ETF provides a convenient way to gain exposure to silver without handling physical metal. Yet convenience does not remove market risk.

For investors considering silver in 2026, the more useful question is not simply whether silver is having its moment. It is whether a Silver ETF fits their investment objective, portfolio allocation, time horizon, and volatility tolerance. Understanding those factors before buying can help investors approach silver as part of a planned strategy rather than a reaction to market excitement.

Personal Opinion Content Silver is about to test a resistance level that could change everything. But the real story is the supply situation underneath it. Global silver inventories have been draining for six consecutive years. Production peaked in 2016. X post by Casey Donaldson @caseyjdonaldson.

Prices have risen roughly 4x since then.

Supply hasn’t followed.

Here is why that is different from every other commodity.

Most silver is mined as a byproduct of other metals like copper and zinc.

Which means surging silver prices don’t automatically incentivize more silver production.

You can’t just open a silver mine because silver is expensive.

You mine what the ground gives you.

Six years of inventory drawdowns with no production response.

A technical breakout forming at major resistance.

Silver prices are going much higher.

Personal Opinion Content Banks just took back 5,794 homes in a single month. That's August, per ATTOM. Up 42% from a year ago. Up 22% from July. Here's what most people don't understand about that number: A repossession is the final stage of foreclosure. X post by Affordability Crisis @trackingcosts.

The lender has already sent the notices, the homeowner has already fallen behind, the auction has already failed. The bank takes the keys.

That process takes months. Sometimes over a year.

Which means August's repossessions reflect missed payments that started long before anyone was paying attention. And the people falling behind today won't show up in this data until next year.

So when you see a 22% jump in one month, you're not seeing the start of the problem.

You're seeing the part that finally became impossible to hide.

The question isn't whether this keeps climbing. It's how much is already in the pipeline that we can't see yet.

Life's Silver Linings Silver inches toward central bank reserve status as its historic rally cracks. Russia has indicated plans to spend close to $535 million accumulating silver and other precious metals for its reserves. By Elroy Fernandes.

Post image
22 Upvotes

Saudi Arabia has reportedly joined in, even though Basel rules still deny silver gold's Tier 1 status.

Gold has been a Tier 1 reserve asset since 1988. Silver never has been, but after a rally that took it from $24 an ounce to roughly $121 and then nearly cut it in half, central banks and bullion dealers are starting to ask why not.

Silver is trading near $60 an ounce this month, still clawing back ground after the metal's worst single day on record. That January 2026 crash, which StartupFortune covered as gold and silver's biggest one-day reversal in years, followed a stretch where silver had more than quadrupled off its 2024 lows before topping out near $121 an ounce. Gold, meanwhile, has settled into the $4,100 to $4,200 range over the same stretch.

What's new is the conversation happening underneath the price swings. Gold has carried Tier 1 status under the Basel Capital Accords since 1988, meaning banks can hold it at a 0% risk weight, the same treatment as cash. Silver has never had that status, and still doesn't. But the same forces pushing central banks to stockpile gold - a desire to hold hard assets outside the dollar system - are now spilling into silver, and a handful of monetary authorities are treating it less like a leftover industrial metal and more like a reserve candidate.

The European Central Bank estimated that gold made up 27% of official global reserve assets at the end of 2025, overtaking U.S. Treasuries, which sat at 22%. Silver isn't part of that conversation in any official sense. The London Bullion Market Association and the World Gold Council have spent years lobbying for gold to also count as a High-Quality Liquid Asset under Basel III, a stricter standard than Tier 1 that would let banks count it more freely against short-term liquidity requirements. That fight is still unresolved for gold. Silver isn't even in the room.

Here's the real distinction, and it's one retail investors chasing the squeeze often miss: there is no lender of last resort for silver. When gold gets tight, a central bank can lease reserves into the market or lend from its vault. When silver gets tight, as it did in London this year, nobody with a mandate steps in. Shrinking London inventories widened the arbitrage spread against New York for weeks, intensifying a short squeeze that traders had to cover themselves, with no institutional backstop in sight.

That's also why roughly half of annual silver demand still comes from solar panels, EVs, semiconductors and AI data center hardware, not vaults. Silver is an industrial metal with a monetary side hustle, while gold is the reverse.

Who's actually buying, and why it matters

Russia has been the clearest signal of a shift. The Russian government has indicated plans to spend close to $535 million accumulating precious metals, including silver, for its national reserves under its 2025-2027 federal budget. Saudi Arabia has also been named among sovereign buyers adding silver alongside gold. Neither country has declared silver a formal reserve asset the way gold is treated. What they're doing is simpler, and more telling: hedging currency exposure with a metal that's historically traded alongside gold but still sells at a fraction of the price per ounce.

Sprott Asset Management, in its 2026 outlook, points to the same macro forces driving gold - central bank buying, inflation concern, and worry about currency debasement - as now bleeding into silver demand. That's a different story than the retail squeeze narrative that dominated headlines when silver spiked past $100. A hedge fund or a sovereign wealth fund quietly adding silver to a reserve basket doesn't move the price the way a short squeeze does. But it also doesn't unwind in a week.

Goldman Sachs is still telling clients to be careful here. The bank cut its gold price target for the end of 2026 to $4,650 an ounce while keeping a $5,400 target for the end of 2027, and flagged that the London silver shortage is amplifying volatility, advising investors who can't stomach swings to stay cautious on silver specifically. JPMorgan, on the other hand, is leaning bullish on the whole complex, forecasting enough combined central bank and investor demand to push gold to $6,300 by year's end.

That split matters more than either number alone. Goldman is describing a market where the structural case is real but the near-term mechanics are broken. JPMorgan is betting the structural case wins out regardless. Both can be right at different time horizons: that's exactly the tension an investor staring at a roughly 50% pullback from January's highs has to sit with.

The "tier one asset" framing circulating in bullion research right now is getting ahead of the policy reality. No central bank has filed paperwork proposing silver for the same Basel treatment as gold, and nobody at the Federal Reserve or the ECB is drafting one. What's actually happening is narrower, and more interesting: a handful of reserve managers are treating silver as a cheaper, higher-beta way to express the same dollar-hedging trade that's already pushed gold to records.

That's not a formal reserve upgrade.

Central Banks continue to shift from #USD to Gold - they want an Independent Reserve Asset Anchor (minus sanctions).

When BigBro Gold starts to recover and start Leg 2 of the Bull Era (run started March 2024 at $2,223 oz to Jan 2026), LittleSis #Silver will start to reduce the #GSR from current 72:1 towards 32:1. See chart below - the GSR needs to get below 64.38:1 it last saw in June 2026, for the rise again of Precious Metals. Perhaps it will coincide with #SPX roll over into the long awaited Stage 4 Decline!
Anything above 64:1 in our opinion is a Silver buying opportunity - NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE.

Remember: Paper fiat currency losers purchasing power over time:
The USD has lost approximately 88% of its purchasing power since August 1971. Using the US Consumer Price Index (CPI) as the measure of inflation, the dollar today buys roughly $0.12 cents' worth of what $1 USD dollar bought in 1971. Consumer prices have increased approximately eightfold over that period.

Personal Opinion Content 🔥4 LARGEST SILVER SHORTS ABOUT TO RECEIVE A MARGIN CALL FROM HELL⁉️ 🚨 GATA'S Ed Steer Says No Way Out for Silver Shorts as They DESPERATELY Cover⚠️. Written by Jon Lindau for SilverTrade @silvertrade.

Post image
7 Upvotes

In a recent Commodity Culture interview, longtime precious metals analyst Ed Steer described the sharp drop in silver as a deliberate smash by bullion banks rather than a free market event.
Silver fell more than 6 percent in a single day while gold declined about 1.6 percent after the release of a CPI print that showed a 3.7 percent increase. Steer dismissed the official inflation number. “I think you can safely turn those numbers around and say it’s more closer to 7.3 percent increase cuz you can’t believe any of the numbers that are coming out of the BLS.”

He framed the selloff as another round of the same pattern that has repeated since the end of January. “This was just a bear raid to cover as many short positions as they possibly could. This is just part of the wash, rinse, and spin cycle that the bullion banks have put us through since the crash back at the end of January when things almost got away from them.”

Steer said the commercial traders pulled bids, spoofed, and used every available tactic once the CPI number hit. “This price correction you’re seeing is manufactured. It’s not happening by free market forces.”

Commitment of Traders data reinforced his view. Even though gold was down roughly 1,400 dollars an ounce from its January peak, the short position held by the eight largest commercial banks was larger than it had been the week before the January smash. “They’re mega mega short gold right now.”

The silver short was even more precarious given the physical market. Steer pointed to a chart of days of world production needed to cover the short positions of the largest traders. Silver sat at the extreme right of that chart, with the eight largest traders short more than 100 days of world mine supply. “The four largest traders hold the largest short position in silver.” He noted that this structure has looked roughly the same for 25 years.

Physical metal is leaving the system at the same time. Steer cited more than 2.2 million ounces of silver shipped out of the COMEX on one recent Friday and 13.4 million ounces over six business days in early October. September had already seen a net outflow. “The amount of silver being shipped out of the COMEX and out of Shanghai has been extraordinary over the last two or three weeks.” He stressed that every ounce sitting in COMEX or LBMA warehouses already has an owner. “There’s a name tag on every one of those things. And sooner or later we’re going to get to the bottom of the barrel.”

Steer treated the weakness as a buying opportunity. He said he planned to buy the next day regardless of the PPI reaction. “You should be a buyer when blood is running in the streets. I’m going to be a buyer tomorrow no matter what happens.” He reminded listeners that he bought gold near 500 dollars and silver near 5 dollars more than two decades ago and remains comfortable holding. Central banks and China continue to accumulate on dips. “If they’re buying it, that’s a good sign that everybody should be buying it as well.” He expects China to eventually announce much larger official gold reserves than currently reported and to set the price in its own market rather than on the paper exchange in New York.

On longer term issues Steer was blunt. He sees little chance that massive sovereign debts will be repaid in anything other than heavily devalued currency. “The death of all fiat currencies is inevitable. No fiat currencies ever recorded has ever survived.” He has no interest in 10 year Treasuries yielding around 5.3 percent when real inflation is far higher. “I wouldn’t invest any money at 5.3 percent myself. I’ll take my chances in the gold market.” He also dismissed talk of gold backed bonds as background noise amid what he described as widespread corruption and insider activity in Washington and on Wall Street.

Steer closed by linking the metals suppression to the broader decline of Western financial power. “The West is in decline and their price management scheme is coming to an end as is the empire that brought it about. We’re living through the last days of Rome.”

In his view the bullion banks are running out of ways to escape the short positions they have built, while physical metal continues to move into strong hands in the East. The latest raid, he argued, is simply the latest attempt to delay that reckoning.
