Have an ocarina question? There is no such thing as a stupid question.

Want to talk about what you're learning or excited about a new ocarina, feel free to share!

Is there's something not ocarina related that you're itching to talk about? Have at it!

High pitch warning on this one. It’s the first time I had to use the third chamber since I got this triple ocarina a couple weeks ago.

It's the rogue from Stl. It sounds great and loud. The high notes are still a bit airy to me, but that could just be a me issue. It's also not black like the photos looked. it's actually brown, which kinda sucks

pink ocarina?

I bought the Rogue from STL Ocarinas because I liked how it sounded, but it's not really my vibe. Does anyone know where I could get a pink ocarina that actually sounds good?

Tips for getting gigs

A lot of people in the community here sound really good, and y’all could definitely be out performing if you wanted to, either for fun, or to make extra money.

I was recently contacted by a library in a nearby city to play a concert of Zelda music for an event celebrating the the new game that’s coming out next month. I’m going to put together a program with a friend who plays guitar so we can do it right!

Video games are a lot more mainstream now than they were when I was a kid, so I bet lots of library programs and local community bands would be receptive to these kinds of events.

Educators love events where pop culture can get kids more interested in the arts! It feels really good to do these kinds of performances too, because being part of a kid’s journey of what made them want to learn a musical instrument is really rewarding.

It might be worth making suggestions to program directors to do more of these events, and then you can offer your services if they need an ocarina player.

The 40th anniversary Zelda concerts that are happening throughout next year will probably have a big influence of the type of programming that communities want. Since these concerts are selling out, I’m sure a lot of program directors will be on the hype train wanting to create a similar experience on a smaller scale that is more accessible to families in the community.

I just wanted to put that out there. I think for anyone who wants to make that leap from playing for fun to performing, now is the time!

Ocarina Tool Mr. Mute Questions

Hello all!

I am a complete newbie when it comes to Ocarina’s in general and their useful gadgets. I have my new songbird OoT glazed ocarina purchase coming hopefully end of next week.
I am a bit worried about being too loud as I try to learn as I live in a building.

I had been looking online and I saw something called Mr. Mute.
I am curious if anyone had used this before. And if so, what are your thoughts?

Does it change your ocarina’s tone a lot or moreso just minimize sound?

Is it handy and something worth getting or is it ultimately an unnecessary purchase.
It is a bit pricey as it is around $54 Canadian.

I would love to hear some reviews if possible!

I have also purchased serious ocarina as a guide book which should come next week - and have the Hal Leonard method book on my wishlist for now. Curious if anyone has any other recommendations for easy to learn songbooks for beginners. Am hoping to make one more random ocarina purchase before Christmas time as a treat for myself.

STL Zelda double chamber - bad Triforce symbol

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hey guys,

A couple of weeks ago, I got the Zelda double chamber from STL. It sounds lovely, and it has been fun and challenging trying to learn the double chamber.

The thing is, the Triforce paint job looks terrible. I think what ruined it was that the ocarina was sitting in the mailbox under the sun for probably several hours. Any tips on how to fix this? I am even considering removing it completely.

Thanks!

Ocarina of Time - Title Theme

This one wasn't too great in terms of playing on my part, but we didn't do more takes after this one because of timerestraints. Thanks to the pianist for indulging me, haha!
