UPDATE: I am Getting Sued for a Quarter Million Euro
Original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/NightVision/comments/1qd8ubx/i_am_getting_sued_for_a_quarter_million_euro/
Its been a while since the last post on this subject. We have been busy building the KB DT-M and a sensor fusion device. Now that the lawsuits hot phase is over and clarity has emerged. I want to give everyone an update and a glimpse into how we handle this whole situation, because if things are not clarified, customers and our partners will assume the worst.
First I want to rule out the worst case scenarios. KB is not going to fall off the face of the earth, even in the worst case scenario outcome. A certain competitor, no longer worth naming, could in the absolute most unfavourable outcome win and be awarded 250k and we’d have to halt the KB DT-2 production. This is a sum and an outcome we can comfortably absorb at this stage, as we are quickly diversifying and expanding our product offering. I am privately backing KB myself, have put close to 1mil$ of my own money into the company and am not going to let 250k kill it. I’ll put another million in if needed without breaking much of a sweat.
Now with that being said, the chances of them winning is next to none. We have done our legal research. And now filed our response some weeks ago, addressing every allegation in detail with supporting evidence and arguments with our extensive legal research backing up the claims. They got some work cut out for them to say the least. However this whole process is probably going to drag on another few months.
We are now moving on, they can come up with counter arguments to our defence, which I doubt will hold much water given the flimsy arguments they stemmed in the initial suite. But all of this has not stopped us from continuing our work and focus on what actually matters here. I realise they win if we let this distract us too much from our core focus, which is to build cool stuff. And let me tell you, building cool stuff we have done. So much so we thought it was worth spending a bit on a SHOT SHOW boot for next year 2027 to showcase what we’ve been busy building.
On the product side of things, we expect to start shipping out the first couple KB DT-M devices in the next month or two. We have managed to collect overwhelmingly positive feedback from our military trials, which we have implemented. At this stage we are also finalising a patent application for a new IPD solution for the KB DT-M which we’ll be filing in EU and the US. Removing any previously prevailing uncertainty around our legacy IPD solution on the KB DT-2. We took precautions not to ship the KB DT-2 into the US with the legacy IPD, this has now been remedied and addressed moving forwards.
We have been iterating at a fast pace, mis-steps happen naturally, course correcting and moving forwards is what ultimately matters in order to support our customers and partners with the best technology and gear. We want to thank those who have stood by our side throughout.
Edit: forgot to mention about Shot, for those interested we'll have booth 61011 on Level 1 in the Law Enforcement section!

New Beginner Buyer’s Guide
The pinned beginner buyer’s guide served us well for a number of years, but it was showing its age and not as robust as we could use.
A new, more fleshed out guide is now available. In the app you can find it by clicking on “See community info” at the top of the sub. On desktop you can find it in the “Community Bookmarks” section. If you’re struggling to find it, you can start with the Introduction. If you’re here looking for purchasing advice, help understanding specs, or wondering what we would recommend for people on a tight budget, please read the guide before making your first post here.
This new guide is by no means exhaustive, and we expect it to evolve over time. Our hope is that by using Reddit’s wiki function we will have more flexibility to keep the guide up to date over time. It has already allowed us to provide much more information as we are not constrained by Reddit’s post character limit. If you find any typos, issues, confusing formatting, or have suggestions please feel free to let us know. The best way to communicate with us about those would be to jump into the subreddit’s Discord server.
A very special thank you to u/go_horse for his work on this guide.

Dumb star question
Why are the stars more visible in the waters reflection than the sky? What kind of filter will let me see the stars like in the reflection?!
(Terrible footage recorded through my iPhone, and NNVT katana)

"Easter Eggs" under nods?
cheers everyone, so a post about discharge on powerlines made me want to make a post where we could collect some special things you can only see with NVGs.
For example being able to look through the glas top of stoves and seeing light throught the thin parts of wooden doors.
Love finding these things.

Used IR device shipping
I keep trying to get myself IR emitters and add ons i need to use my guns with night vision. My issue here is I work 7 days a week in construction and these guys only want to meet in person. Ofc every one i find is a few hours away. I ask if they can ship after I send payment on these buy/sell groups and they never want to ship. Last thing i want to do is drive 4 hours round trip after a 14 hour day. Are you not supposed to ship these devices? Im new to night vision and am plain ignorant here. Or is it just a general attitude in this space?

Sms Laser Titan
This thing is slick. The poors (me) should be pretty happy with this thing once the production units get finished. The flood illuminator is so good. The switch they include with it is also surprisingly nice. Metal housing and mounting parts, and it has a programmable override for flood illuminator or vis laser on the angled button.

Side-by-side IIT comparison: NNVT 16mm vs. Standard 18mm MX-10160. Is 16mm the future for lightweight builds?
Got our hands on the first batch of the new NNVT 16mm GT6680 tubes (left) compared to the standard 18mm MX-10160 (right).
The physical size and weight reduction is massive — dropping from ≤80g down to ≤50g. Both P43 (Green) and P45 (White) variants are available. FOM min. 1600, SNR min. 25, with built-in auto-gating.
As an authorized NNVT partner, we’ve just got these sample units for testing and evaluation. Curious to hear what builders think — are you guys planning to move toward 16mm lightweight setups?

Broken Spec Precision Mawl
I bought a spec precision MAWL and it was working great, but recently has shut off or flickers at a lower power. When dropped it’ll come back to life fully or flicker at a lower power. Anyone in the states who can get in there and probably just reconnect some wire. Would prefer not to ship it back to China. Thanks

Spare PVS-14 Setup
Decided to get my PVS-14 a separate helmet setup after upgrading to duals a while back to loan to friends. Honestly the TATM short arm isn’t bad, almost feels like better quality than the newer mounts I’ve used lol.

Rayyvn customer service
Anyone else have customer service issues with Rayyvn Industries?
I recently purchased their dual-band bridge after being told they could accommodate my PVS-14 left-eye/thermal right-eye configuration.
I was told via email they absolutely can do and just leave a note in comments or email them back after purchase and give them the order number. so i purchased a bridge.
Their checkout didn’t allow order notes as instructed, so I immediately emailed them with proof of purchase and my configuration request.
After multiple emails, I’ve received absolutely no response. They don’t even list a customer service phone number.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of poor communication with Rayyvn? How long did it take to get a response?
Thanks

Getting into night vision on a budget. Where's the point of diminishing returns? PVS-14s, LAMs, helmets, etc.
I'm looking to get into night vision with a single PVS-14, primarily for recreational use and nighttime shooting.
I'm not interested in paying a premium for the absolute best image quality, but I do care about durability, reliability, and serviceability. I generally prefer buying quality equipment once rather than buying cheap and replacing it later.
I'm considering a used Gen 3 PVS-14, possibly with an older Omni tube. Is that a reasonable way to save money without sacrificing too much? What should I look for when buying used?
And then there are LAMs. This is probably where I'm most confused. At what point are you actually getting something that's genuinely duty grade rather than just a recreational accessory? I've been looking at the Holosun IRIS, Steiner DBALs, and other options, but it's difficult to figure out where the diminishing returns begin.
Are the newer, more affordable civilian LAMs genuinely reliable, or is there still a compelling reason to pay considerably more for something from an established military supplier? I'm particularly interested in long-term durability, quality control, and whether the expensive options really justify their prices.
For context, my rifle currently has an Aimpoint T-2 on a Scalarworks 1.93" mount and a Modlite. I'm hoping to retain that setup rather than replacing a bunch of equipment.
Basically, I'm trying to find the night-vision equivalent of buying a BCM instead of a KAC. Something dependable, rugged, and well-made without spending twice as much chasing the last 10% of performance.
What would you guys recommend, and where would you personally save money versus spend more?
TIA
