So I’m a UK girlie and have painted some canvases using digital stitch charts from What’s the Stitch.
I’ve bought 2 rolls of tape from Amazon and they’re just not sticking at all! They have no stick to them whatsoever 😑
Anyone else doing this canvas? I would love to see your progress I just got it and was so excited but can barely see anything I feel like I’m just making up a lot of it.
I'm fairly new to needlepoint, although I have been doing yarn crafts for as long as I can remember. I just had a baby and I want to make her a stocking. I landed on a pattern by bloom stitch studio (stocking pattern link). I plan on painting it myself on 13 mesh (I know that will be a process all in itself lol). What threads would you recommend for the stocking? I wouldn't mind some speciality threads for the tree and other smaller details but am unsure what to use for the background since it is so much stitching!
Hi! I purchased a 19 inches h x 12.5 inches w on 14 mesh stocking. Does anyone have recommendations for a scroll frame (brand and size) that will work for this without breaking the bank? Bonus points if I can find it on amazon. I primarily stitch sitting on my couch or in my chair with an ottoman. Thank yall!
Or maybe you’ve come across a pattern for one? I’ve seen plenty of painted canvas stockings, but never a counted canvaswork version. I’d love to know if they’re out there! If you’ve made one or seen one, please share!
I really enjoyed stitching this one. The colors are so bright and vibrant. The tiny background stitches got a little tedious, but everything else went so quickly and was such a pleasure to stitch. I loved every bit of it!
I basketweave 99.99% of my projects but thinking about trying something new. Any decorative stitch suggestions for the train car or background? it’s 18 mesh and I’ll probably use vineyard silk or pepper pot, if that makes a difference. thank!
Up until this point I did the sheep first in French knot and then am doing the background in basketweave. Doing the background and the black on the sheep around the French knot has been a nightmare. Should I do the rest by doing the background first? I don’t want it to look different or for the white to pull the green through! TIA!
hello! i think i bit a little more than i can chew as i’m newer to needlepointing and working on this canvas lol. not sure if my background would look good with a bargello block stich (like the middle row has it) or if I should do something else. I’m thinking of framing this once I finish so i’m open to suggestions! Thanks!
I am a little newer to needle point. I painted this canvas myself to stitch for a picture frame only. That’s why I didn’t give much margin around it. But I’m trying to do needle point on a budget and using DMC. I did everything else in pearl cotton, but I’m moving to stranded for the White. I feel like you can’t tell the pattern that well on the White. For people more experienced, is that because I’m using too many strands? Or is that just how traditional DMC is? Or am I doing a bad job laying the threads? I’d love to hear some opinions before I do much more and need to take it all out. Thank you everyone for any input!
Hey all! I’m a little stumped. I’ve only ever stitched canvases designed to fit neatly with the stretcher bar sizing (i.e. whole inches). I’m going to be working on a canvas that’s 7.75” by 6”. What size stretcher bars do you think I should get for this canvas? I see some recommend rounding up and others recommend rounding down.
Our Thursday night stitch club cannot figure out what this is supposed to be. One of our members stitched it years ago and can't remember. It has a cut out at the bottom and two symmetrical holes that don't seem to serve a purpose. Any suggestions?
I'm a developer, not a stitcher. I built this for my wife. Most nights she plays paint-by-number games on her iPad, and I kept thinking the satisfying part of those games, filling in one cell at a time, is closer to needlepoint than to a game. So I made Bodkin, a needlepoint app for iPad and iPhone. It's now in public beta on TestFlight, and I want people who know the craft to tell me what's wrong with it.
The video is a real screen recording of the app. In short: you pick a painted canvas (or a photo, or a blank mesh) and stitch it with your Apple Pencil or a fingertip. The thread is rendered as twisted wool on canvas mesh, a strand runs out and you rethread, and the colors are matched to real DMC threads. When you finish, there's a shopping list and a printable chart if you want to stitch it for real.
I'm not after feedback on one feature. I'd like to hear about the whole thing, from the first launch to the finished piece:
First five minutes: was it clear what to do? Did the intro lesson help or get in your way?
Stitching: does it feel like stitching, or like a drawing app? Is the thread believable? If you have an Apple Pencil, Is the Pencil pressure and slant behavior pleasant, or fiddly?
Pacing: where did you get bored, stuck or annoyed? Did you want to keep going?
Finishing: would the shopping list match what you'd actually buy? Is the printable chart usable?
Anything missing that you'd expect from a needlepoint app.
It's free with no account. There's an optional one-time purchase for decorative stitches (Bargello, Brick, Mosaic, Scotch, Smyrna), and in TestFlight it's a free sandbox purchase, so please try that flow too. To join, install TestFlight and use this link: Bodkin in TestFlight (space is limited!).
Can someone please please pleaseeeeeee for the love of GOD tell me where the hell to find canvas or charts that are funny / inappropriate/ cheeky? I am so sick and tired of these grandma type designs or preppy , dainty girly crap. I love that stuff something but I also want to stitch a condom wrapper or Michelo Ultra.
Hi y'all, I have a 40in x 13ft roll of blank white 18 ct Zweigart canvas listed on eBay for sale. It's in pristine condition. The auction ends 10/23. Link to listing is: https://ebay.io/m/yGujw9
Feel free to contact me with any questions!
(I contacted the mods for permission to post this but please let me know if I need to make any changes to the post)
ETA: based on your kind and honest feedback I’ve adjusted the price to better reflect the market. I appreciate the constructive criticism.
Hi there!
Hoping someone out there has some suggestions for me.
I’ve had my system 4 lap stand for less than a year now. The paint started chipping about 2 months in. I’ve only traveled with it once and used the company’s storage bag. I’m very gentle with it and leave it on my table.
I’m extremely disappointed since it’s such an expensive piece. I’ve never seen anyone else with a chipped stand.
I reached out to the company and suggested there may have been a manufacturing defect. While they were nice in their response, they only offered to send me a paint pen. I’m looking for a solution not a bandaid.
Has anyone here had problems with paint chipping?
I’ve seen an uptick in people cerakoting their stands. Has anyone done this and have feedback? Is it durable?
Would love to see examples of stitches you’ve used for steps so that they stand out?
Planning to do grass/planters and the building in basketweave, bushes in French knots and trees in variegated long stitches. I just want to be able to tell the steps are steps and not just lines.
