Hi all,
I built a brand new PC with a Kraken Elite 360 RGB, installed a clean vanilla Windows 11, and everything ran amazingly well, except for one issue. Once a week, only when booting Windows, it would freeze on the login screen or shortly after logging in, before I launched anything manually.
That only started after I installed NZXT CAM, so it was the obvious culprit. To confirm, I disabled auto-startup, and then had no more issues, so I am 100% positive CAM caused it. It likely tries to hook into system sensors right as Windows is loading everything else, causing a timeout resulting in a freeze, similar to the sort of aggressive hooking issues you can experience with RivaTuner.
Anyway, I turned off NZXT CAM auto startup and have been running without issues for months. The only downside is that my screen defaults to liquid temp instead of the graphics I want. I also noticed that pump and fan speeds do save to hardware memory, but screen settings do not. Ideally, we can launch CAM, set up the screen, and have it retain those settings on the next boot without keeping CAM running.
Which leads me to this: is there any community mod that allows us to retain screen settings without running CAM?
Also, I just opened CAM to tweak my fan curves and the app automatically updated itself. Based on what I read online a while ago (mostly negative feedback) I was under the impression that NZXT wasn't supporting the app anymore and wasn't updating the app anymore. Any thoughts on the new version? Has it improved stability?
