I was at the town hall. My overall impression was quite positive (more positive than the impression from the cbc article). I think it's important to understand that Con Mine was already in past operation and the cleanup was very successful. Con did not have the same environmental problems as Giant due to a combination of geology, processing methods, and better management. Not to mention that the problem which created the arsenic pollution at Giant which was open stack roasting is completely illegal today. Most people in attendance seemed very supportive. We need to advocate for responsible industry to invest here and bring jobs if we want our territory to thrive.
