As a Nebraska fan, I live in a glorious Big Red bubble where college volleyball is an incredibly popular, exciting sport. But it seems like across the country, the sport has really taken off over the past couple of years. More games are being televised, including nationally, and attendance records seem to be falling left and right.
Of course, that could just be my Nebraska bias talking (which is usually pretty reliable, naturally).
For fans of programs outside the traditional volleyball powerhouses, have you noticed a similar increase in attendance, TV viewership, social media engagement, or general interest? Are there hard numbers showing that college volleyball is growing nationally, or are the headline-grabbing attendance records largely driven by Nebraska?
I'd love to see some actual data on how much the sport has grown and where that growth is happening.
