Language | Хэл Working on a Mongolian language learning app so I can teach my husband and future kids, looking for feedback from you guys!

Sain baitsgaana uu r/mongolia!

For some context, I’m (27F) Mongolian who is married to a non-Mongolian (28M). We were looking for some resources so my husband can learn Mongolian, and we realized there weren’t that many apps that are user-friendly or easy to stick with. It got me thinking about all the 2nd gen kids I've met who don't know Mongolian, and whether my kids in the future would be able to speak Mongolian if I’m the only one teaching it. It lowkey got me scared that our language might die in my family line in the next generation or two, which just adds to my pre-existing guilt of feeling not Mongolian enough and blah blah blah blah.

So to combat this, my husband and I have been working on “Mongolingo”, a beginner-friendly gamified language learning app to teach Mongolian. So far I only made the lessons for Unit 1 and 2 because I wanted to get YOUR inputs on whether I’m going too fast, too slow, if the lessons I’m teaching make sense in general or if I should take a completely different approach instead.

I would GREATLY appreciate any and all feedback from native Mongolian speakers, "Monglish" speakers, and people who don't know any Mongolian! I want this to be something that anyone can use if they have any curiosity about our language, and in the future add more and more advanced sections.

Please leave feedback in the comments below! And please no hate comments lol

Download app here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mongolingo/id6774407866 or just look up Mongolingo (its the one with the bear mascot)

Edit: THANK YOU SO MUCH for the support and comments! We have written down any and all feedback so far onto our to-dos so expect these in our next update, as well as more lessons. We will also be reaching out to some Mongolian schools and communities in the states to get some feedback on our lessons. We are so so grateful for being added to the posts highlight and being given this user flare, shout out mods! Yostoiii ih bayarlalaa manaihaan.

Pinned A Note of Precaution on Meeting Strangers via Reddit

UPDATE: All underage users posting or commenting to meet new people will be deleted for their safety.

Due to recent posts by teen and adolescent redditors in this sub, we mods want to say this one thing.

It's okay to be bored and want to meet new people for whatever reason, but please exercise some caution and use common sense. Especially if you're under 18.

Always tell a parent and/or friend about any meetings you're going to have with a stranger.

Tell them the location of your meetings and ask them to check in after certain amount of time.

Also, use common sense in giving out your personal information, like name, D.O.B, address, etc.

And you probably don't need us to tell you how scary things can get if someone gets a hold of embarrassing data about you. Right?

We're sure most people in this subreddit are good and cool, but just want you to use common sense.

What else is there to add?

Мөн бүтэн нэр, гэрийн хаяг гэх мэт хувийн мэдээллээ өгөхөөсөө өмнө сайн бодоорой.

Discussion | Хэлэлцүүлэг Mongolia has a serious issue with AI.

This is the cover art of 1st graders on medle.mn and it might be printed and used in schools and it's just AI. All of them aside from math. And we are talking about 1st graders we have studies how AI is bad for kids brains and we still let kids use them in schools there are assignments to AI generate anything like posters, your pdfs, I am pretty sure they are vibe coding parts of the education system too. All of mongolians should get reality check on how bad AI is because my experience with going against AI was either "AI is the future", "Everyone is using it, who cares". If this trends continue on, it will be not just the cover art that gets AI generated but the whole book, I have seen US schools using AI generated books for kids educations already and it's bad.

Where are good art stores in UB

• Upvotes

Please guys I need this. If you know an art supply store in UB that sells good quality stuff with a variety of choices like somewhere with gazillions or bazillions of things to just rummage through. Ok it doesn’t have to be like that but maybe your favorite art shop? Optionally reasonably priced

Travel | Аялал Looking for some help for a family trip with small kids to Ölgii and the area

Сайн уу. I am looking for some advice to plan a family trip on Mongolia next year (late spring/early summer). We are travelling with 2 small kids (will be 4,5 yo and 2,5 yo at the time) and are mostly looking to enjoy some nature. We are looking for a self-driving trip since we are quite used to this type of travel. I have already checked a lot of information but some local help will likely be much more useful than Claude/ChatGPT.

We would of course want to visit the Khoton and Khurgan lake and Altai Tavan Bogd nationa park.

I have some specific questions but would also be very grateful if someone is willing to just chat or give us some useful advice. Here is what I specifically want to ask:

  1. Is there a regular schedule for flights from Ulaanbaatar? I can see MIAT are flying Wednesday/Saturday. Is that true?
  2. Are there any private car rentals in Olgii? When we travel, we usually prefer to rent a car from a smaller/local company since we prefer working with local people.
  3. Is it easy to rent camping gear in Ölgii, like tents, sleeping mats, cooking stuff, etc.

We will be driving but we also like to venture with the kids a bit in the wild and sleep in a tent for 2-3 days. What can you guys recommend. We are quite flexible with the schedule but it seems June/July is a good time to visit Mongolia. If the flight schedules are like this (Wed/Sat) we would most likely plan a 10day trip from Wednesday to Saturday.

Any advice or contact is appreciated. Маш их баярлалаа. A funny thing: we are Bulgarian and we share the same alphabet :)

Need Advice | Зөвлөгөө авъя any recommendation for dermatology clinic???

I need a good detrmatology clinic for treating my acne and its scars (I had it like almost 6 years and it got it got significantly better cuz im taking care last 2 years , now its mostly the acne scars and redness that is making me so insecure) .

I went to the national dermatology center and she gave me some medical prescription with creams and all but she said with this condition of your skin you probably should meet with clinic dermatologist and take prp injection or something like that.

But the problem is that i have full time work and those treatment services only available during weekdays after 12 pm or smthn and the making appointment on that center its pain in the ass like almost 1 month away just for advice

Are there any good dermatology clinics in mongolia??? not like beatuy salon where they intensely pump all of your acnes and wash your face with all those creams???

TDB app no longer supports iOS versions below 16.0 and since my phone cannot run it I am no longer a customer of TDB.

Not sure what is the earliest version of Android it supports.. but hell it's been only 5 years since iOS 15 was released and I don't like how they are treating their long-time customers. A new phone is like a month's worth of salary in Mongolia and they expect us to buy new phones regularly?

Question | Асуулт Looking for 8K/16K resin printing services

Hi! Me and my mate have been Warhammer fans for a while. Official minis are expensive af, so we usually get ours from China or Russia, wherever we can find them cheaper, tbh.

Now we're considering getting some minis printed ourselves. We found a few printing services a couple of years ago, but none of them offered anything above 4K resolution. Not sure if things have changed since then.

Do you guys know any places that offer 8K or 16K resin printing? I'd love to know the prices too!

Thanks!
