Discussion / Opinion Please allow buying multiple subscriptions, monthly limit is too long reset time without multiple accounts with current limits for proper vibing with vibe..

So i got this Mistral pro sub yesterday and already 1/5th of monthly usage gone. At this rate, it means work 5 days a month, then not, without relying on other subscriptions. I do already have claude and codex subs, but codex sub i wish to get rid of soon. Would be nice to get a secondary, or maybe even third Mistral sub for claude to orchestrate, but for some reason Mistral does not want my money.

Yes yes i know PAYG does exist, but it costs A LOT compared to just getting some other sub instead. I mean 50€ for one day of usage if i were paying the API prices. At those prices paid 25 days a month, i could get multiple 200€ claude subs instead and have better model with tons and tons of more usage.

Also yes team plans do exist, but 2 team seats cost more than 3 pro subs, and would be too expensive to justify over Claude, even tho i would prefer EU company, and mistral 4 large seems good enough to do what i do, orchestrated by claude at least.

So apparently i will need to get more claude subs after i get rid of codex, even tho i would rather get 2 more mistral subs alongside my claude sub.

Please Mistral, would you take my money?

(Or at least adjust the usage from monthly to 5h + weekly and increasing overall monthly limit, because most would not use all weekly limits, and they would reset with smaller usage pools, compensating for those who do use all of it then having slightly more usage overall.)

Mistral doesn't have as much money as Claude or OpenAI to hand out that amount of tokens on a subscription. The aforementioned American guys can afford it because they have huge multibillion-dollar contracts. By making lots of 20€ subscriptions, you are first of all violating the user agreement. If you use Mistral, and want support them, use PAYG.

"Mistral doesn't have as much money as Claude or OpenAI to hand out that amount of tokens on a subscription."

Yes. This is why i want to pay for multiple subscriptions and alternatively offer solution that can get more usage for power users without costing more to mistral if they set the limits correctly.

Yes i know, and thats my point, that im not buying multiple ones and are forced to give my money to other companies, despite wanting to give it to Mistral.

"If you use Mistral, and want support them, use PAYG."

If im looking to give money to charity, i think there are others in bigger need than Mistral. But im not looking for that, im looking ways to spend my little money to pay for AI usage in some effective manner, which claude 20€ sub + 2-3 mistral subs would be great for, but not allowed..

The sub is like a gym sub.

Your own sub costs aren’t even nearly enough to cover the maintenance costs alone, unless you’re paying a lot more.

It relies on a group of people chipping in and some use it more than others, but it more or less balances out.

Claude and OpenAI have multiple times the debt of Mistral, and Mistral has far more limited compute.

Imagine OpenAI having a chain of gyms all over the world. Mistral is a regional place with maybe 3 locations.

Having you pay extra subs may sound reasonable, but what you really want is either a higher tier sub, or what already exists, PAYG. Where you pay as you go for the resources you actually need, as you’ve reached the ceiling of what they can realistically offer on a subscription basis

When you pay 20€ and they offer you 300€ worth of tokens, it's because 20 other persons are paying the same 20€ and using less than 20€ worth of tokens.

If everyone started maxing out their subscription each month, Mistral would either die, increase its prices or take on more debt. This is not substainable.

That's why you are not allowed to have multiple subscriptions. And that's why there is such a price difference between subscription and API pricing.

Charity? For real? This is a real price of tokens. Charity is happening on subscription exactly, but on your side. Since price per token is much lower than actual price, when you pay through API or PAYG.

With a team sub, each seat gives you 255 euros. So if you buy 4 seats you have 1020 euros of usage and with 200 euros you can literally get 2040 euros of usage.

How cool is that?

Yes and with claude sub, im at 170€ worth of tokens just in this one session, which mistral costed 50€ of tokens. But claude usage is about 30% of weekly usage of 20€ plan, while mistral is 20% monthly usage.

How cool is that?

Token prices mean nothing when you are on subscriptions..

I changed to API pricing. I was on monthly.

I think it is cheaper.

At the moment Mistral Large 4 is on special for those using API credits. I've done a lot more with that discount.

There is no world where API pricing is cheaper at Mistral. You pay the same usage via Subscription or via API, but Sub gets you 280€ usage for 20€. At API you get 20€ usage for 20€. wtf?

Try it. I did. It costs me less.

API pricing:

"Mistral Large costs $0.5 /M tokens in and $1.5 /M tokens out. Batch processing, for high-volume work, reduces the price by 50%, and cached input tokens reduce input cost by up to 90% for repeated prompts."

Subscriptions don't give you access to those discounts. Mistral Vibe frequently uses batch processing with repeated prompts.

For me, the API is much cheaper.

Ps. Before I used API pricing I asked AI what it would cost if I used API pricing. It said it would be cheaper. So far I am very happy I changed.

Why not get several teams accounts?

They cost more than pro accounts and have same usage, and i dont need the other team perks, which seem to make it more like business account.

2x team seats is more expensive than 3x pro, and more expensive than claude or codex subs. And while claude does not allow easy multi 20€ subs inside same account, they dont prohibit making multiple account with their own subscriptions at least. So its allowed, but bit of an hassle to use.

If mistral allowed multiple pro accounts, then the monthly limit would actually be a good thing, instead it being 5h/weekly like with claude and codex.

1x claude 20€ sub and 3 mistral pro subs would for me be the ideal setup in terms of usage and general bang for the buck. But with team seats price of mistral gets so high, that i rather get more claude, or just end up keeping the claude codex mistral combo.
