SPOILERS Analysis of the Entire Main Cast Spoiler

Hi All! I wanted to provide this resource for the community. The characters in this game are full of hidden symbolisms and lore. Atlus did an unfathomable amount of research to layer each character in this story multiple times over. And I also did an unfathomable amount of research to uncover the hidden meanings.

This video serves as the perfect resource for after your playthrough, to help identify the more beautifully subtle components to the characters and the narrative <3

Discussion This game's Battle OST is actually a masterpiece

Just a few days ago I started playing metaphor, and as it is with Atlus games, they pulled out some banger soundtracks. And I just need to talk about it

Both encounter themes for regular enemies is straight up perfect, I love them, they sound epic

But its the miniboss/boss themes that are genuinely so off the balls crazy. I'm still way early in the game, only have 3 party members RIP Grius Gone too soon. The Human fight had a great boss theme, but its the later osts for the bosses and minibosses that genuinely are some of the best pieces of video game music I've ever heard

When you fight that fatass Louis supporter that got strohl's family and town murdered by a human, the theme that plays is genuinely so royal and epic and it just, It feels amazing, Its got an amazing drop and it just keeps going. Its called "Verge of Life and Death" ,quite a name by the way

and then just when I thought shit couldn't get any better

It got better

some Whiteclad asshole and his skeleton minions decide to try and kill you for Louis' sake (fuckin hell)

THE SONG THAT PLAYS IS SIMPLY CALLED "RIVAL CANDIDATES"

AND IT SOUNDS LIKE THE BOSS THEME FOR GOD, It sounds like you're in a fistfight with an actual angel. This is probably what Lucifer heard when He saw Michael come down to beat his ass.

It sounds like its the final boss theme

ITS JUST SOME ASSHOLE AND HIS CREW OF DASTARDLY FRAGILE SKELETONS

Humor Should the protag drop out of the tournament and become a mascot for a toothpaste company? I think he would do very well at it.

SPOILERS I wish the MC had more dialogue and personality after …. Spoiler

One thing I wish Metaphor: ReFantazio had done differently is give the MC more dialogue and personality, especially after he becomes the Prince.

Around the halfway point of the game, I started wondering why the MC barely talks despite having voice acting. I let it slide because I assumed there was a narrative reason for him being so passive, and I expected things to change later.

Looking back, his passiveness actually makes sense to some extent because he’s not a real person in the conventional sense. He’s a being made of magla, created by the real Prince through his own imagination and ideals. That could have been an interesting explanation for why the MC behaves the way he does, but I wish the game had done more with that idea.

However, once he becomes the Prince, I really wish the game had let him speak more and express himself. He’s no longer just magla. He’s the Prince, someone who is supposed to lead people, inspire hope, and eventually become king. This should have been the perfect opportunity to give him more dialogue, stronger opinions, and a more personality.

And why the hell is Strohl the one confronting Louis so much? Louis is the main antagonist, and I feel like the protagonist should be the one confronting him on a more personal and ideological level. Strohl can have his own important moments, but sometimes it feels like he’s stealing the spotlight from the MC. I don’t want the protagonist to just stand there while another character gets to deliver the important lines and challenge the villain. Strohl sometimes feels like a self-insert for the writers. I like Strohl as a character, but there are moments when he seems to express more directly than the actual protagonist. Sometimes it feels like Strohl gets to be the one who articulates the important ideas while the MC just stands there and reacts. I don’t mind Strohl having important moments, but I don’t like it when he’s stealing the show from the MC.

This is something I think Persona handles really well. The protagonist may be relatively quiet, but the story still makes them feel like the central figure in the conflict. Their relationships, decisions, and role in confronting the main antagonist give them a sense of importance. Even if they aren’t the most talkative character, you rarely forget who the central protagonist is supposed to be.

The irony is that the MC’s origin could have made his character development even more interesting. Since he’s a creation of the real Prince, becoming more than what he was originally imagined to be could have been a powerful part of his arc. I wanted to see him develop his own thoughts, opinions, and personality rather than remain a relatively passive protagonist.
Becoming the Prince should have been the moment when the MC truly came into his own. I don’t need him to talk constantly, but I wish the game had given him more agency and let us see him grow into someone who could genuinely stand on his own, rather than simply embodying someone else’s ideals.

Discussion Finally got all achievements Spoiler

Post image
32 Upvotes

My first Atlus RPG that I got just because it was on sale a few months back. Didn't think I'd fall in love with it so much as to sink 120 hours in just to get all achievements.

One achievement that really blindsided me was all quests, and I had to search up how to get the last quest which ended up being Gold I in the arena.

I just love this game so much, and I'm going to the concert in Singapore next month, man I'm excited, glad to have finished the game properly before that.

Discussion Finally beat the game. Spoiler

I say finally but it hasn't even been 2 weeks since I got the game. It was such an amazing experience. Final boss nearly made me change difficulties but I managed to win. Might ve been underlevelled but oh well. Zorba and the human baby I found so difficult, then everything in between was relatively simple, the final Louis fight was easy, but the destroyer chadrius took like half an hour to beat. Overall peak game.

Discussion Finally beat the game Spoiler

Finally beat louis and good god that was such a close fight... two of my teammates were completely wiped out and the other two were at 1 hp... I had to decide whether to pass hulkenberg's turn to the protag to finish it off or full heal the remaining two people, and I think I had to risk it or he would've wiped me out anyway. Thank god I decided to risk it, cause it was enough damage. To prepare for this fight differently I actually defeated all of the magna crystals before hand and levelled up my characters a few levels to around 64-65. Believe it or not i was trying to beat the second phase of louis with only like lvl 60s and all the magna crystals still up. The fight felt a lot easier when he didn't have like 12 turns and I could actually play the game more with less turns where I only had one turn icon. I lowkey thought people were saying if you defeated the crystals you just didn't have to fight the second phase of louis at all which might have been why I was overlooking them. Plus I thought people meant the red crystal spawners lmao.

Overall a really good game but definitely had it's moments of frustration, grind, and stress. Definitely a nice switch up from the typical persona games, and honestly I feel like I might have preferred this version of the atlus game instead. I liked how I felt I didn't necessarily have to rely on a persona calculator to get the most out of the strategy part of the game, at least later in the game. Also the medieval theme made it feel more pure and closer to reality which I liked. I'm proud I was able to complete this on hard for the most part, aside from switching to easy mode to grind exp materials, which I guess feels a bit like cheating but whatever. GGS

Discussion Any tips for final boss? Spoiler

Last time I was playing I was able to get through the first 3 mask louis boss stage but the second stage where he ruins your turn icons and has a million turn icons I got stuck on and it's almost impossible considering he also inflicts status ailments on my party as well. And the video I saw on youtube where someone beat him his heismay dodged like every turn with royal thief which mine can't even though i maxxed him out with agility gear. Any tips? I don't wanna have to feel i can't complete the game. Thanks! My members are currently around 60-65 and I think that's kinda underlevelled but I also don't wanna have to go to a prev save file and grind a ton ;-;.

SPOILERS Did Forden committed Treachery? Spoiler

So about Santifex Forden, After finishing the game. I always winder if Forden committed Treachery like He was the one who burned down the Elda village and nearly wiped them out which include the King's wife and Pressumely son which mean He killed Hythlodeus V's Wife and Pressumely his Son. Which is just so fucked up already for the King to lose both their wife and child. Im here thinking if Forden committed Treachery, idk if the King ever trusted Forden to be counted as Treachery because to me, Forden deserves to suffer for what he did and the fact he's the one who started this shit. Awful Man. But anyways, This is a question where i wonder if that is the case during my playthrough if Forden Commited treachery.

Discussion Can we talk about the English localization?

Because it's perfection. I've gotten used to localizations for games getting better and better, but this blew everyone else out of the water.

The voice work, the different dialects and manner of speaking, word choice, everything. I am almost done with my second playthrough and I am still in awe of how well it was all done.

Kudos to everyone involved, it can't have been easy- especially with such a dialogue-heavy game.

SPOILERS Did the Magnus Brothers have a thing for the Cygnus Sisters? Spoiler

This was always in my head for some time everytime i think if Del ever liked Junah romantically or Basilio having a crush on Rella. For Fidelio, This short tsundere paripus definitely likes Junah, You can't tell me otherwise and the fact that Basilio said that Fidelio wanted to be at Junah's Side makes wanna question if its really just being close bodyguard or a romantic Interest. For Basilio, Idk, since i felt like he might have a thing for Rella especially in his Rank 8 Dialogue, Yeah Sure Bas Yeah sureeee.

But i don't conclude it, Its a small theory of mine or a headcanon for bas but for Del, definitely liked her. Any answers?

Discussion Sturdy Stance is a funny passive

It is a passive that always halves received damage at the cost of not being able to dodge anymore. You get it at the last level for samurai archetype. Sure most people don't want to give up dodge (me included). But the passive is always active meaning you can revive the person with the passive over and over making them too stubborn to die. I just find it hilarious.

SPOILERS Help needed with final act of the game!! Spoiler

hello everyone! as the title says, kinda having a rough time with the final dungeon. i tried my hand at infiltrating the floating castle but every enemy is way stronger than anything ive fought so far and it takes an insane amount of SP to get through the level 60+ enemies. things have never pushed me nearly this much previously so ive never felt the need to stock up on mana items, so i am already completely out of the significant mana potions and i did just find out about junah's dish that completely restores mana but im not really sure if i can make a meaningful amount of those with the time i have left on top of the important stuff i want to do like grind xp, finish up social links, get max virtues etc. i also think i kinda sucked at building my characters over the course of the game and i think that a better player would be doing like 5x the amount of damage im currently dishing out. TL;DR i suck ass at the game and am getting my ass kicked in the final dungeon, any advice on anything like how to stock up on mana so i can more easily level up the party and archetypes, or build recommendations/changes r greatly appreciated. thank you! (my hulkenberg is pretty good or at least has a lot of use, i havent really used junah or eupha at all for the most part cause i didnt care for their characters that much, which may be another reasons for my struggles) (also i want to unlock the royal thief and the soul hacker for the MC, as i unlocked tycoon on him without realizing the big all mighty attacks are physical and i had spec'd him mostly magic the entire game lol, so among just general leveling up i would like to target those two specific goals as well unless im being stupid and there are better archetypes to allocate my attention to)
