Root Beer Tester Reports Volume 1

SilentJ17

SilentJ17’s Root Beer had clearly been spending some overtime in the mountain lab, with two big, frosty phenotypes that took quite different shapes. The taller girl pushed past 60 inches before supercropping and wore smaller flowers so thickly coated they looked almost white, while her shorter sister built much larger, super-dense buds. The flower opened with sarsaparilla, pine and chocolate, then moved into earthy root beer, pepper and medicinal herbs, while the rosin put the savoury GMO side front and centre with garlic, onion and a little sweetness around the edges. Both hit heavily for SilentJ17, bringing deep head-and-body relaxation, appetite and sleepiness, with some short-term memory disruption adding to that thoroughly stoned feeling.

Grower Highlights

Medium: Coast of Maine seed starter

Lighting: 2 Spider farmer se5000s with UV, IR and deep red supplemental lighting and vivosun under canopy lighting

Container: Gorilla grow tent 5 gal fabric pots on vivosun wick bases

Nutes: Dr earth homegrown top dressed during veg and dr earth flower girl top dressed during flower. Recharge tea top watered weekly and ro water in the bases with rotations of just water and water with GH silica and cal mag added

Training: Leaf tucking, late defoliation and super cropping on one main cola to keep out of the lights

Cycle: 70-79 days

Height: 58+ inches (~146cm+)

Plant Shape / Structure: Pheno 1 exceeded 60 inches before supercropping to 58 inches; smaller, heavily frosted buds. Pheno 2 measured 41 inches tall x 29 inches wide, with larger, very dense flowers.

Yield: Pheno 1 was the hash plant, it came in at 466.83 grams of fresh frozen, then washed for a total of 22.48 grams of bubble hash. %4.82 return. Pheno 2 was dried and cured for flower and yielded 132.41 grams.

Aroma: During grow: Musty, dank funk with sweet cream, developing herbal sarsaparilla as flowers swelled. After harvest: Flower: sarsaparilla, pine, pepper, chocolate, earthy root beer, medicinal herbs and vanilla. Rosin: savoury-sour GMO funk, onion, garlic, pepper and spice under light sweetness.

Effects: Heavy head and body effects, deep relaxation, sleepiness and appetite; some short-term memory disruption. SilentJ17 also reported relief of aching muscles.

Notes: Novice difficulty reported. Extra nutrients were recorded in this run. The tallest plant was supercropped to clear the lights. SilentJ17 valued both flower and hash results. Trichome production: 5/5; Trim ease: 5/5; Would grow again: 5/5.

Short Summary: Two distinct structures delivered frosty flower and hash, with herbal root beer, savoury GMO funk and heavy effects in SilentJ17’s experience.

Indo

Indo’s Root Beer started out like a familiar soda-shop order, then let the monster out of the jar after harvest. Heavy sarsaparilla became unmistakable root beer in early flower, picked up burnt rubber near the finish, and finally settled into a much louder GMO funk with the herbal sweetness tucked behind it; the flavour carried that same savoury GMO character with hints of sarsaparilla. She built a main-cola-dominant frame with dense flowers and upright side branches that needed spreading, but Indo otherwise found the grow extremely easy and described her as very resilient in this run. The smoke delivered a powerful body high and a deeply stoney feeling with plenty of staying power, putting Root Beer firmly among Indo’s favourites. Indo called this the favourite drop of the last couple of years.

Grower Highlights

Medium: Coco

Lighting: LED

Container: 3.9 gallon plastic

Nutes: Athena Blended

Training: Pinch & roll

Cycle: 80-89 days

Height: 40-45 inches (~101-115cm)

Plant Shape / Structure: Main cola dominant

Yield: 319 grams

Aroma: During grow: The plant gave some heavy sarsaparilla early on and early flower gave a definitive root beer smell. That root beer smell carried well into flower but late in flower near chop was giving burnt rubber. After chopping the rubber immediately faded, the sarsaparilla did as well but not completely. Smells leaned heavy into GMO. After chopping the GMO smacks you in the face and you have to look for those backend smells. After harvest: GMO, sarsaparilla. Flavour carries GMO with hints of sarsaparilla.

Effects: The smoke is top notch. Super stoney feeling backed with a powerful body high. The high has some legs too so you don’t have to light joint after joint

Notes: Novice difficulty reported; Indo found the run very easy. Upright side branches needed spacing. Indo described strong resilience in this run. Trichome production: 4/5; Trim ease: 5/5; Would grow again: 5/5. Indo called this the favourite drop of the last couple of years and a contender for a personal favourite strain.

Short Summary: A personal standout for Indo, pairing an easy grow and dense flowers with GMO-sarsaparilla flavour and a strong, lasting body high.

Modkins

u/Modkins’ Root Beer was putting on her late-flower costume, with a pink-purple fade starting to show through a strong coat of frost. Left untrained, she built a Christmas-tree frame around a dominant main cola, with several prominent branches and flowers that were looking tight and dense at the time of the report. The aroma changed with the scene, starting gassy before turning sweeter and spicier later in flower, with a high aroma-strength rating to match. Modkins recorded extra nutrient demand and intermediate difficulty, but the colour and trichome coverage were the real talking points in these in-progress observations, with frost earning a 5/5.

Grower Highlights

Medium: Happy frog soil, COM seed starter , extra perlite

Lighting: 24/7 240W LED

Container: 2 gal

Nutes: Cronk nutrients

Training: Nothing

Cycle: 80-89 days

Height: 40-45 inches (~101-115cm)

Plant Shape / Structure: Main cola dominant , built like Christmas tree, multiple main colas , dense tight flowers from what I can tell so far Pink-purple colour developed through the fade.

Aroma: During grow: Gassy earlier on and late in flower more sweet and spicy.

Notes: Intermediate difficulty reported; extra nutrients were recorded. These are in-progress observations. Trichome production: 5/5; Trim ease: 4/5; Would grow again: 5/5.

Short Summary: An in-progress Root Beer with pink-purple colour, strong frost and an aroma moving from gas towards sweetness and spice.

-----

zer0tolerance0

Zer0 kept this Root Beer monster in a bonsai-sized frame, but the flowers still came through thick, dense and heavily frosted from top to bottom. In a 25-ounce container with extensive LST, the reported mother and clones carried plenty of aroma, and even the shaded flowers stayed large and frosty. Chemmy rubber dominated the grow and remained the main character after cure, gaining a little sweetness and depth without losing that sharp identity. The 3/5 grow-again score came down to taste rather than plant performance: Zer0 mainly vapes and prefers fruitier profiles, while still describing this as a great plant that handled a lot of training well.

Grower Highlights

Medium: Coco

Lighting: Led

Container: 25oz

Nutes: Jack's nutrients

Training: Lst, bonsai format

Cycle: 90-99 days

Height: 22-27inches (~56-70cm)

Plant Shape / Structure: Large flowers top to bottom

Aroma: During grow: Chemmy Rubber. After harvest: A little more sweet and developed, but still primarily chemmy rubber.

Notes: Novice difficulty reported. Mother and clones produced dense, frosty flowers, including shaded flowers. The 3/5 grow-again score reflects a preference for fruity profiles, rather than dissatisfaction with performance. Trichome production: 5/5; Trim ease: 5/5; Would grow again: 3/5.

Short Summary: Dense, frosty flowers and a persistent chemmy-rubber profile; u/zer0tolerance0’s lower repeat score reflected personal flavour preference.

-----

Terpenetix

Terps’s Root Beer kept one foot in the soda shop and the other in the mountain lab, pairing herbal sarsaparilla with a sharp chemical-cleaner edge. That unusual combination stayed consistent through the grow and after cure, giving this specimen a clear identity without a long list of competing flavours. In coco she grew tall and bushy, finished in the reported 80–89 day window at around 40–45 inches, and carried plenty of frost on a plant Terp found easy to grow. The reported nine-ounce yield rounded out a straightforward run, while the effects leaned into body relaxation without tipping into sedation for Terpenetix.

Grower Highlights

Medium: Coco

Lighting: LED

Container: 2.2g

Nutes: Athena Blended

Training: LST

Cycle: 80-89 days

Height: 40-45 inches (~101-115cm)

Plant Shape / Structure: Tall, bushy

Yield: 9oz

Aroma: During grow: Sarsaparilla, Chemical Cleaner. After harvest: Sarsaparilla, Chem Cleaner.

Effects: Indica leaning effects, relaxing but not sedative

Notes: Novice difficulty reported; Terpenetix found the grow easy. Trichome production: 4/5; Trim ease: 3/5; Would grow again: 5/5.

Short Summary: A tall, easy grow for u/Terpenetix with persistent sarsaparilla and chem-cleaner aromas and relaxation without sedation.

Strain Info Type 2 Strains ? Introduction

What is up everyone?

I just finished a Polar Bear OG in a 2x2 and have it drying in my vacant AC Infinity 4x4. Honestly, one of the most beautiful plants I've ever grown. What a pleasure.

I am a fairly experienced grower, work in the legal industry for one of the East Coasts largest vape brands. At 40 years old, a new father with so much going on. Im looking into growing type 2 Cannabis. High potency flower is giving me real problems with just general anxiety etc.

For those that have grown the CBD rich strains, which are your favorite OR which would you recommend to someone who enjoys Hazes, and earthy hash type flavors?

I have also grown out Butters Breath and LimeOz which were both insane. Limeoz the high was wayyy to racy and heady but mouth watering!

Thank you!

Question Nutrient questions

So these mango matrimony plants are on day 34 and went into flower at day 22. On day 20 I fed 2 1/2 tbsp of Gaia green all purpose and 2 1/2 tbsp of Gaia green power bloom and worm castings. They are in 5 gallon pots so 1 tbsp per gallon. I wasn’t expecting this early of a flower since all my other plants entered flower around day 30-35. My other 2 plants look perfect lush green and no clawing. The plant pictured is ironically the largest and fastest growing, but the top cola leaves are starting to claw and I’m seeing a slightly yellowing color to the plant. All 3 plants were fed the same amount and watered the same times with the same water. Curious if you all think this is nitrogen toxicity or could this plant have been underfed since it’s the largest? I fed about 14 days ago. If you think it’s N toxicity how would I go about fixing the issue quickly to prevent further damage to the flowers quality? I was going to do a bloom feeding of 1tbsp per gallon at day 45-50 to finish them off strong. Wondering if because they went into flower so early the 2 1/2 tbsp of all purpose I fed it was too much for this plant and the other 2 handled it fine. Thank you for reading and assisting.

Nightmare on Fig Street — Strain Review

Root Beer × Guava Fig

Medium: Organic living soil with BuildASoil amendments
Container: 5-gallon fabric pot
Lighting: 700W HLG LED
Nutrients: BuildASoil
Training: Leaf tucking, defoliation, and supercropping
Cycle Length: 75 days
Final Height: 45 inches
Dry Yield: 150 grams
Overall Rating: 5/5

Grow Experience

Nightmare on Fig Street was an absolute pleasure to grow. With Root Beer and Guava Fig as the parents, I had pretty high expectations going into this one, and she certainly didn't disappoint.

I grew her in a 5-gallon fabric pot using my organic living soil amended with BuildASoil products. Nothing overly complicated with the feeding schedule. I top-dressed when the vibes felt right and hand-watered with straight well water pretty much daily once she was established.

Overall, she was a fairly hands-off plant that didn't require much attention to produce some seriously impressive flowers.

Plant Structure & Growth

One thing worth mentioning right off the bat is her size. Root Beer genetics can produce some big plants, and Nightmare on Fig Street definitely inherited that potential.

She finished around 45 inches tall with a large, prominent main cola and long-reaching lateral branches. She developed a nice, open structure with plenty of flowering sites throughout the plant.

Training consisted of some leaf tucking, selective defoliation, and supercropping to manage her growth.

She was an attractive plant throughout the grow, but the real show started as she approached maturity.

Flower Development & Appearance

This is where Nightmare on Fig Street really shines.

The flowers developed a thick coating of trichomes, with beautiful contrasts between frosty white calyxes, dark purple sugar leaves, and vibrant orange pistils.

As she matured, the foliage faded into an incredible mixture of deep purple, burgundy, yellow, and orange. Some of the fan leaves developed an almost autumn-like appearance, which contrasted beautifully against the heavily frosted flowers.

The buds themselves had a chunky, stacked appearance, with the main cola being particularly impressive. Even the smaller flowers had excellent trichome coverage.

She was one of those plants that you couldn't help stopping to admire every time you walked past her.

The photos really speak for themselves.

Aroma During Flower

She was stinky, stinky during flower.

The best way I can describe the aroma is a sharp, pungent funk that immediately reminded me of GMO, although it wasn't quite the same.

There's an aggressive, almost offensive quality to the initial smell, but behind that comes something completely different.

The Guava Fig influence starts showing itself on the back end with a tropical skunkiness and an almost creamy sweetness.

It's a really interesting combination because the pungent funk and tropical notes seem like they shouldn't work together, but they absolutely do.

Definitely not a subtle-smelling plant.

Harvest & Yield

She finished in 75 days and produced 150 grams of dried flower from a 5-gallon pot.

Considering how little maintenance she required, I was very happy with the result.

The combination of her size, branching, flower production, and resin coverage made for a very rewarding harvest.

Post-Cure Aroma

After curing, that sharp, pungent aroma is still front and center.

It's one of those smells that I recognize as familiar but can't quite put my finger on. There's definitely some GMO-like funk in there, but it has its own character.

What makes it particularly interesting is the tropical creaminess that follows.

You get that initial punch of pungent, skunky funk, followed by a softer, almost dessert-like tropical note.

It's a unique terpene profile, and one I keep coming back to smell.

Flavor & Smoke

The smoke is extremely smooth. And I mean extremely smooth.

It's also very flavorful, which is always something I look for.

One of my favorite things about this strain is the flavor you get just from pulling on an unlit joint.

There's a distinct creamy, tropical taste that coats your mouth. It reminds me of some kind of familiar sweet treat, but for the life of me, I can't figure out exactly what it is.

The pungent funk from the aroma is still part of the experience, but that creamy tropical character is what really makes it memorable.

It's a very enjoyable smoke, and the smoothness makes it that much better.

Effects

This one is not for the weak.

Combining Root Beer with Guava Fig has produced some seriously potent flower.

The effects hit me pretty hard, with a noticeable heaviness behind the eyes and a strong, stony sensation.

It's the kind of smoke that lets you know pretty quickly that you've had enough.

There's nothing particularly subtle about the potency. It delivers a heavy, relaxing experience that I would personally save for when I'm ready to settle in.

If you're looking for something with some real knockout potential, Nightmare on Fig Street certainly fits the bill.

Final Thoughts

Nightmare on Fig Street checks just about every box for me.

She was easy to grow, developed into a beautiful plant, produced a respectable 150 grams, and finished with some absolutely gorgeous flowers.

The combination of dark purple foliage, bright orange pistils, and thick trichome coverage made her a standout visually.

But what really separates her is the terpene profile.

That sharp, GMO-like pungency mixed with tropical skunk and creamy sweetness is something different. Add in the incredibly smooth, flavorful smoke and heavy effects, and you've got a pretty complete package.

I really enjoyed growing this one, and I think anyone who appreciates pungent, funky genetics with an unusual tropical twist is going to enjoy what Nightmare on Fig Street brings to the table.

Final Rating: 5/5

Another excellent cross from Mephisto Genetics.

Testers Platinum Stomper F1's 💍

Platinum Stomper Testers

Morning pics. Watered in aloe, coconut powder, quillaja, and elemental sulphur.

-**Gelautocop** — *Gelauto 33 × Platinum Stomper*

**Furimosa** — ***Mephmosa × Platinum Stomper*

**Skynet OG** — *Skywalker × Platinum Stomper*

**F For Forgotten** — *Forgotten Cookies × Platinum Stomper*

- **707 / Roots Organic. Kis Organics dry amendments on top of that.**

- **Castings**

- **Foliar: IPM and Pegasus Potion**

These four are doing different jobs. Together they are covering stress, uptake, and foilar uptake performance. Below, are some of the benefits our plants can gain from using these inputs. ***nerd alert!!!***

- **Aloe vera**

- Carries salicylic acid, amino acids, and enzymes. The salicylic acid signals the plant to tighten its defenses. The amino acids give it ready building blocks. Plants that get it regularly hold color better and recover faster after a heavy feed or dry-back.

- **Coconut powder**

- Source of cytokinins and simple sugars. Cytokinins push cell division at the root tips and new growth. The sugars feed the microbes already in the 707 and the Kis top dress.

- **Quillaja**

- Saponin surfactant. It lowers surface tension so the foliar wets the leaf instead of beading and running off. That makes the IPM inputs (lost coast) and Pegasus Potion (1-2-0) more effective I do believe.

- **Elemental sulphur**

- Slowly lowers soil pH and feeds the sulphur cycle. On the leaf it is a soft preventative against powdery mildew and mites.

Thaaatssssaboutttt it! Ha!

Happy friday, gang.🖖🏼
