why are Byzantine coins considered or always categorized as ancient coins?
the East west split happened in 395. The medieval era started in 476 with the fall of western rome. Byzantine empire didnt fall until 1453 (the end of the Medieval era to some) that being said the Byzantine empire spent the vast majority of its life in the Medieval era, so why is it always categorized as ancient? Unless they are seeing it as an unbroken continuation of Rome itself (still feels like a strech)

Newly Acquired My newest penny from Empress Matilda!
After several months, I finally got my hands on an Angevins penny depicting Empress Matilda!
This example was minted in Bristol (Turchil of Bristol), and it has been fractured and repaired. But with her coins being so hard to find I didn't want to be picky. Most of her features are there too!
The last two photos are my current collection of Anarchy coins, which also includes a Stephen penny and halfpenny.
I'm so happy to have this dream coin in my collection at last. 😊

Advice we have any books and or recourses on how the process of coin manufacturing took place in medieval Europe throughout the ages?
trying to look into more than just, it was a sheet of silver that was hammered into a mold. and more how often was the mold replaced (i know its 10,000 hits average but i have no source) how was the security detail in the mint? and what not

this coin has Charles II and at same time date 1706 (king Philip V). I see in some other post in Talk Coins that this is not a legit coin. Which is your opinion?
