Korean math rock group Dabda will be on tour this November in the U.S. and Canada! Wanted to share just in case anyone missed it as they'll be special guest for Shanghai Qiutian, a great group from China who also dip into math rock and post rock. Awesome pairing and both bands' first time to North America.

Hey! I know this is gonna sound kinda weird, but I recently got way more into math rock because of the band millsage from bandori. I'd already heard a few things from the genre (Tricot, wowaka), but now I wanted to dive in deeper, so I decided to look for albums on RYM as a starting point. However, I ran into a "problem": a lot of the songs I came across lean more toward a slower tempo and a somewhat melancholic tone, and that's just not my kind of music. So I wanted to know if anyone would have recommendations for more "fast-paced" bands/songs, it doesn't have to be intense 100% of the time. Sorry if that's actually more characteristic of the genre, I'm just inexperienced with music in general so I don't really have a good sense of these things.

Edit: thanks everyone for all the recommendations! In the meantime I checked out some Piglet, Hella, Don Caballero and Monster Machismo and really liked them. So many suggestions it got a bit overwhelming, but gave me plenty to follow up on. I’ll keep checking any new comments, just wanted to say thanks, I was feeling a little lost with the genre.

Yo, so Totorro are actively touring Asia and we were humbled to open for them for their Bangkok show. It was a sweet night full of energy, rain and chilling conversations. My band NUMAN is still active, happy to have lots of local support.

The guys are really nice and we were happy to help them in any way backstage and onstage. It was a privilege to have them and I hope more European math rock bands can consider Thailand as their next touring destination - I can help with my Math Rock Appreciation connections.

They should be playing in China today with CAN festival and then to Taiwan with Elephant Gym. Awesome feeling and awesome experience!

Sick band from my local area I just recently found, a few of the guys played in the band Rescue in the mid 2000s as well, Volume Plus Volume is another incredible math rock/post hardcore album

I held off on attempting to find the last track on this album as it isn't a part of the album on my streaming service in the song Mad Science. Following Plastic Stars and Cotton Highways was an absolute treat. This album is a part of my soul.
