New here? 👆👆PLEASE READ THIS STICKY👆👆 Welcome to the sub! Posts about pot and it's related subjects should be shared with our good friends at r/trees, not so much here; we're all about *actual trees* (that's the joke) 😊🌳 'Thank you! Come Again!'

Good day everyone! I'm trying out some new automod skilz and they seem to be operating okay, at this time anyway. That said, few things are 100% the first go, but I'll keep checking the mod log to see if posts have been yeeted that shouldn't have been, and reinstate them in as timely a fashion as possible. Please use the 'Message the Mods' link in the sidebar to contact us directly, not the comment box in this post. =)

Hopefully these new settings will reduce the content not meant for this sub, but if any slip through, I know I can count on you good people to help direct them to the right place with the positive humor intended between our two subs as you always have done. We're lucky to have you!

Any (genuinely) helpful suggestions are always appreciated, and thanks for your patience and kindness with the newbs! 😃

CONFUSED ABOUT THE SUB NAME?

Please check out these past posts!

UPDATE:

Today's 11/10/22, it's been a little over a month since the automod tweaks (10/8/22) and I'm rather pleased with the results. There's still some 'bleed through' posts from new redditor potheads, and I believe I've miraculously found a good balance between the ones that are snagged by automod and actual tree posts that I have to go back and approve. Mod reports, I'm relieved to say are much more manageable than they were.

Thank you all for your patience while I tried this out! While it does appear to me to be the case, I hope you're still as happy here as you ever were 😊🌳💗

Neighbor said our bald cypress was an odd tree and has weird leaves. I'm sharing her majestic beauty because that hurt her feelings.

Treepreciation Giant virgin growth tulip poplars in Southern Indiana, easily the largest trees I’ve ever seen & the tallest trees east of the Mississippi

In downtown Evansville, Indiana, a few hundred acres of bottomland hardwood forest have been left completely untouched by humans, save for reserve visitors and conservationists. We were in awe & I’m anxious to come back & walk the trails we missed.
Though we didn’t see any specific trees with signage sharing their measurements, the reserve says there are many 160’+ trees here, as well as a 204’ cherrybark oak, the only tree (that I’m aware of) east of the Mississippi measured over 200 feet tall.

I know these are small fry compared to a lot of the beasts out West, but having never been further west than Amarillo, I was completely blown away. No clue how this place, only 2 hours away, slipped under my radar for so long. I’m sure I’ll have more to share in the future.

Love this tree. It looks like it was topped a long time ago and the branches became massive leaders.

Hi everyone, I am by no means a tree expert and we just bought a house with these lovely large shade trees that I am trying to ID for care. I would appreciate some input. Google has been inconclusive.

Visited this giant american sycamore today. This is the largest tree in Massachusetts and it's hard to capture the size of it in photos. Estimated to be around 350-400 years old. It's amazing to think of all the change that has occured around this thing during it's lifetime. When this was seeded it was likely in a forest with a dirt footpath passing by it. Beautiful and awe inspiring tree.

Help! Are our Crape Myrtles ok?

My brother in law took it upon himself to do this to our Crape Myrtles despite being told not to. We knew they needed trimmed but he was asked not to do this, he did it anyway and he insists they're fine.

Is this ok and if not is there anything we can do to help them recover?

Help! Just bought a house with this tree out front. I want to tarp the yard to kill the grass and weeds, but want to keep the tree safe. How much area do I need to keep clear at he base so it gets water during the winter?

Picture 1 Is the whole tree. Picture 2 are the leaves. Picture 3 are the leaves of some of the sprouts around the base. Should I cut back these sprouts? Do I need to do anything other than just clip the shoots? Do I need to treat the exposed wood at all?

Saw this huge sassafras today in WV. 50ft and maybe 16-18 inches in diameter. They are my favorite tree and I worry that one day they will be impacted by ambrosia beetles in the US as it warms up. I appreciate that I get to see big ones like this and for the unique character they provide.

Hello enthusiasts! Please excuse my rudimentary knowledge, but could you guys tell me what type of birch tree this is? And is any of this a seed? It looks like old blooms to me. This guy is gorgeous and I’d like to try to grow one for my yard.

Thank you!

Got this small bur oak grown from acorn, haven’t planted yet but in the week I’ve been waiting it’s gone from some brown leaves to many more, in this centripetal pattern.
