JOURNAL I let myself be influenced

Today I watched a perfume influencer declutter the body mist she convinced me to buy last year. She raved about it in her initial review, but it went into the donation box with just a, "This smells nice, but I never wear it," and sure enough the bottle looked barely used. I remember watching her review and searching online, checking local stores for stock dates, signing up for sales notifications, etc.

I feel silly that I put so much mental energy into a fragrance. I also think this came at a time where I still feel the drive to buy, but my collection is becoming overwhelming to me and it's hard to pick out what I'm going to wear daily.

ACTIVITY Use Your Stash: Palette a Week (PAW): October 19 to October 25

*Trigger Warning: replies will contain product names, descriptions, and opinions.*

We focus on a palette for the week and our thoughts on it. All palettes are welcome. This includes eyeshadow, cheek, lip, pre-made, and self-made. Grouping of singles can also be a palette (ex: colour palette or scheme).

Did you do the PAW challenge last week? Which palette did you use? Did you find it successful or was it a failure? Have your opinions on the palette changed at all? Do you plan to keep the palette and use it again?

Which palette are you going to use this week? Why have you chosen this palette? Do you have any goals you hope to reach in using it?

BAW/CAW- Did you use any particular cheek product last week? Has it made the cut or is it time to let it go?

ADVICE Help finding this brand

• Upvotes

I'm trying to identify a makeup product I bought online about 12 years ago, and I'd love help figuring out the brand.
What I remember:
Product: A cream foundation and concealer in one, light coverage
Packaging: A round container with a clear lid
Brand type: Clean or natural beauty, drugstore price. I bought it online, and I'm not sure if it was also sold in stores.
Status: I'm not sure if it's still sold. The brand may have closed, or the product may have been discontinued or renamed.

DISCUSS How do I stop buying new products ?

Hi friends! I’m still learning makeup and trying to build my everyday and soft glam vanity. I want products that work well for my skin, especially foundation and concealer, so I keep researching products, comparing reviews, looking for the perfect shades, and convincing myself that maybe the next product will finally be the right one.
I’ve bought and returned so many concealers because the shade, finish, or formula wasn’t quite right. Even when I find something I like, I start wondering if there’s something better out there. I spend so much time watching reviews and reading recommendations that I end up wanting to try even more products.
The worst part is that I know I don’t need all these products, and I don’t want to keep spending money on makeup just to feel disappointed or uncertain afterward.
For those of you who have struggled with makeup shopping, how did you break this habit? How do you stop researching products, stop chasing the perfect foundation or concealer, and learn to be satisfied with what you already own?
I’d really appreciate practical advice, especially from anyone who has been through this cycle of buying, testing, returning, and buying again. I genuinely want to change this habit and enjoy makeup without constantly feeling like I need something new.

TIA🫶🏻

Make it work for you!

This project starts on the first day of Autumn, 21st September, and will run December 21st. Feel free to join anytime. The more, the merrier!!

I'll post an update every two weeks 🧣5th Oct 🧤 19th Oct ❄️2nd Nov ☃️16th Nov ⛸️ 30th Nov and finale on 🎄20th December.

Please let me know if you would like to be tagged as a reminder for when the updates are posted.

Myself & u/Thislittlepiggysays are running this project, so if you have any issues, please let us know!

ACTIVITY Use Your Stash! 1 lip 👄 a week (LAW) 19 Oct - 2 Nov 2026

Hi everyone, it's time for another update of LAW!

It’s time again for reflection and rolling in a new lip product this week. Some guiding questions for the posts:

- Product brand and name

- Why is this product selected?

- Do you wear the lip product by itself only or layered/mixed with other products?

- Do you still like the formula/colour/effect the lip product gives?

- Any new discoveries or decisions made after testing the product for a week?

Last update’s pick was based on ease of use, 2 bullet lipsticks: Flower Knows Swan Ballet Shine Lipstick in both 02 Mary Jane and 04 Silver Moon. Throughout the 2 weeks I mainly used Mary Jane, a warm red brown that mainly fits the warm eye looks and beigey toasty blushes I was wearing. Silver Moon is a cool pink, only wore it twice as it didn’t really match with the rest of my makeup. Both still were great picks as I could easily Apple at work without needing a mirror. The moisturising formula also wore comfortably on my drier lips.

This update’s picks will be my Lisa Eldridge Gloss Embrace in Pompadour and Girlcult Material Medical matte lipstick in Little Cumin. I do enjoys LE gloss formula but do need to get more use of out it. Pompadour is a lovely bright warm pink that should go well with the pink blushes I am rotating in. Girlcult’s matte formulasare great and so comfortable to wear, Little Cumin is a muted pink brown that will anchor the days I just want something more subdued.

Looking forward to seeing your updates and new entries!

ADVICE How do you sort/organize your brushes?

I'd love to know how other people sort and organize their brushes! It's something I've just never gotten right. I have a favorite foundation brush and a favorite concealer brush, and I have a giant powder brush that's a pain to store, so I know where they are at all times. But everything else I always find myself just grabbing at the nearest plausible thing, and then discovering later that I had something better for the job and I just forgot I had it or couldn't find it.

ACTIVITY Tarot Deck of Panning: New Moon Update and project updates

blessed New Moon, panners! I hope you are setting great intentions for your panning projects today! ❤️

I've been doing this tarot card panning project since last June and I'm really enjoying it, but I've decided to make some small shifts recently. I'm now drawing one major arcana card and two minor arcana for the new moon. the major "rules" the project and the minors guide the project beneath the major.

I've also pulled the tower, judgement, and death from the new moon deck. these are cards that modify the project so I'm only using them for the full moon draw.

I need to update the spreadsheet, hopefully today, to reflect these changes. but I like them. last month was ruled by the Hierophant. so I wore very traditional neutral looks and actually gained a major appreciation for my neutral colors.

this lunar cycle:

Wheel of Fortune: all products are ruled by roulette/random draws

Queen of Swords: cold vibes (this is guiding my BYOP color story)

II of Swords: small, curated collections. I'm keeping my perfume collection this month to 4 items

I'm excited about this shift to my little project!

here is the intro post if you're interested. I'm gonna work on updating the spreadsheet today.
