Iām planning an itinerary, and based on my research, Iāll be covering quite a bit of ground on the eastern side of Madrid on Day 1, arriving around 4:00 or 5:00 PM (I plan to stay in this area, as Iāll be taking the metro from Estación del Arte and getting off at the station near where Iām staying). Iām looking for something family-friendly, a place to 'rest' after a day of exploring. Nothing too rowdy at night (unfortunately, lol). Are there any markets, exhibitions, or restaurants that I shouldn't miss, or anything of the sort?
edit: I realized that I could also explore Salamanca. Would that be a more fun and pleasant option?

”Hola!
Me gustarĆa hacer turismo Ć©tico.
Muchas gracias.

Which app or website would you recommend for events happening in Madrid? For example: flea markets, concerts, social meet ups, language exchanges, vernissages and so on.
Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone, 28M! Iām visiting Madrid soon and would love to lace up my boots while I'm in town.
Iām looking for any casual pickup games, futsal, or organized social matches (5-a-side, 7-a-side) where a traveler can easily drop in.
Dates: 21-29th October
Level: Casual / friendly (just looking for a good run and some touches, though competitive is fine too!)
Apps/Groups: Are there specific WhatsApp/Telegram groups, or apps like CeleBreak or Meetup that are currently active and popular in Madrid for this?
Any recommendations on pitches, neighborhoods, or groups I should check out would be huge. ”Gracias!

Hi all,
I will be arriving in Madrid soon from overseas and I wanted to visit the protests to see them firsthand. I support the protestors but I don't wanna turn what they're doing into a spectacle since I know it's a serious thing, so I was wondering if it'd be considered disrespectful to come visit them. It'd be good to know what some locals or people at the encampment think of this.
Thanks!

Flying back to MAD from Italy and trying to choose flight/train combo. How much time would you keep between flight arrival and catching an Ave from Atocha? I'm still choosing dates, but it may be Christmas day.
TIL!

First trip to Spain for an immersion week of riding horses that starts near Seville on March 28. That means I need to arrive Easter Sunday and Iām a little nervous about Santa Semana crowds. Option one is fly US direct to Madrid, then high speed train to Seville to arrive on the 28th (Easter Sunday). Iāve heard I may need to allow 4 hours between landing and boarding a trains. Thatās a long day of travel. Option two is fly into Seville from US through CDG or Amsterdam. This would avoid Semana crowds but involves a stop in Europe. On the way home, I plan to take the train from Seville to Madrid and stay 3 nights so I can see the Prado and fly home from there. I should add that Iāll be alone, so any safety tips are appreciated. What do you think is the best strategy for a smooth arrival into Seville?

I (M - 71 years and married) am coming to Madrid for a few days - probably 26th, 27th and 29th October. I am English. We now live in England (50%) and Malaga province (50%). We will do some ātourismā but I would really like to connect irl with a local for an honest conversation about the city and everyday life. (Unfortunately I have limited Spanish language and so I need to find an English speaker - but perhaps it could be an opportunity for a limited inter-cambio?).

Hello everyone!
I would appreciate some recommendations on what to see in Madrid in the next 2 days. I have already been around the central area (see picture). Tomorrow I plan to go to Retiro Park. Could you suggest something in that area, where to grab a bite, like a street food place or a decent restaurant?
Also, what is somsthing I shouldn't "miss" while being here? I find crowded places not so attractive like the central part.
Any help is welcome! Thanks in advance āļø
P.s. some quirt, cosy specialty coffee shops are also nice to visit.

Hey everyone!
My boyfriend (25M) recently moved to Madrid, and Iāll (25F) be visiting him this coming week from Sunday to Tuesday.
Heās still getting to know the city, and we thought it would be fun to explore together!
We both love travelling, exploring new places, trying different restaurants, live music, concerts, and going to fun events or parties.
Does anyone know of any interesting events, social meetups, or group activities happening around that time?
If anyone is planning a group outing or knows of any fun places to check out, weād love to hear about it!
Thanks! :)

Planning a 10 night family trip to Madrid in December. Havenāt been.
Main areas we are looking at are Conde Duque, Bario de las Letras, and Ibiza.
Would like to avoid chaotic busy daily life if possible. Ideally would have chosen Salamanca but the prices are a bit out of the budget.
Would love to hear some local advice as to which neighborhood is best and will still not feel isolated. Thank you!

Hi everyone!
I (28M) booked my first solo-trip for Madrid to celebrate my birthday in January and, apart from a bit of anxiety, I feel overall excited to begin this little journey!
I felt I really need some time for myself, even though sometimes I'm hella scared to travel alone, but, nevertheless, I figured Madrid would be a safe place to visit and to have a nice birthday for myself.
As soon as I found this subreddit I thought to myself it was better to ask my questions here rather than to ask ChatGPT, hoping that I would recieve some thoughtful answers from locals instead of answers gathered from reviews one could find on the internet.
First of all, since I'll be in Madrid for my special day, I wanted to treat myself with a nice dinner. I'm talking about a dinner in those places where you usually dress up nicely, and the cousine is special and sophisticated. I know I'll feel alone because I won't have my friends with me, so I really want to feel special with some good spanish chef-made cooking in some michelin starred restaurant! Do you have any recomendations? So that I can already make a reservation and be ready once I'm there.
Secondly, since I'm interested in bespoke tailoring and, having already worked with some great neapolitan tailors, do you know any historical tailors' shops I could visit and maybe learn a thing or two? I would love to see how luxury handmade menswear is made and I wouldn't mind chatting with other tailors (and maybe find a new life in Madrid, but maybe this story is for another post ahah).
My birthday dinner and the tailors shops are my two most important matters but, if you have spare time to help me, I'll write some other things I'm interested about:
- I know Madrid is LGBTQIA+ friendly, but would it still be fun as a solo-traveler guy? I don't know if I'll feel brave enough to go clubbing and, as of now, I was thinking about sticking to bars. How is the nightlife in mid january? Is it still worth a shot?
- Speaking of gay things, I was thinking about going to a musical but maybe it's too soon to see January dates in theatres. Aside from the famous Lion King or Wicked, do you have any recomendations for good spanish musicals? I wanted to see a flamenco show too but online they all seem so cheap and tourist-y, and that is why I was leaning more towards a musical theatre show.
- Finally, do you know any niche perfume shops? I havent traveled a lot, but when I did, my go-to souvenir is a perfume from a brand born in the country I was visiting. I'm not talking about Carner Barcelona, I wanna know some niche, cool and exciting perfume brands that could make a nice and well deserved souvenir for my trip.
I feel like I wrote too much but, for whoever got here, thank you for your attention! I'm really looking forward to travelling alone for the first time and I hope to find the help (and maybe a bit of courage) with your answers.
(Hope my english is good enough for you to understand what I'm trying to say)

I've got Porto- Madrid-JFK flights with a 95 minute connection in two days. It's on one Iberia ticket. Carry on only. US passport.
I understand that while the MCT is 55 minutes, there's might be a holdup at the passport control.
Any tips on how to expedite the connection? Who can help? Can I get to the front of the passport control line?
