The album is so good. Reminiscent of the Illmatic live at the Kennedy Center Nas album which is also so good.

No 1 Headband

Just saw this pop up, awesome version of one of my favorite Lupe songs. There’s 9 different songs from this whole show too including a bunch of classics.

So fucking underrated

"We'll never touch like Kedzie and Karlov, My mental state is Calm like Grand Theft Auto with all the stars off"

I've been delving into the archives as part of an upcoming project and came back across this lesser known gem. Big Energy and Dick Gregory's legacy deserve a proper deep-dive, but for now I want to shine some light back on this comedian's story. "So please don't forget him. The more that you dig, the more you gon' dig him. He will break you out your prison..."

Picked up the official gold plaque today… the collection startin to look somewhat respectable

Anyone going to the concert in Boston tonight?!
It’s currently 4:53am. Been up since 4 and I cannot go back to sleep.

Kicking myself for not buying the M&G package!!!
I have such a great question for Lupe.
Maybe next year. Hopefully he does this again!

I’m getting all emotional listening to music in preparation. Lupe has been like a mythical god to me since like 2006.
I’ll be listening to “Failure” for the rest of my life and I’ll still never fully understand it 😂 maybe one day

One of the best from Lupe's 2010's catalogue maybe as well.

aggressive delivery, quotable punchline after punchline, straight attacking beats like his life was on the line?

lupe’s latest music has been putting me to sleep. Lupe was never a party rapper but before he was still interesting.

1. Game Time - I consider this as one of Lupe's best tracks and captures his essence perfectly, everything from the wordplay to the hook to the banging beat (Shoutout to The Buchanans). Leaked version sounds okay, but doesn't fulfill the potential of the beat and frankly, I wish more Lupe fans would discuss this song. Certainly a hidden gem of the era.
2. Dedicated - His most beautiful and sweetest song from this era, and frankly it's my most favorite cut of his. Love how well he expresses his gratitude to his mother and the lyricism screams beautiful poetry. Not to mention, Gemini killed the hook. Would like to see this one remastered as the vocals and beats are frankly distorted and sounds incredibly low-quality.

What are your picks?

Side note: Wish they put out an entire tape/album of just remastered Lupe tracks instead of scattering them around in various EP's for Chill's Spotlight. Gets annoying having to search for those songs on streaming platforms.

Wanna meet up or if you need a ride I am down to be designated driver, late 30s M from NYC now in Henderson

if i wanted to get started listening to Lupe what albums would yall recommend

Amazing album. Has been on repeat for 2 months and gets better with ever listen.

Initially, I wasn’t a fan of Alan Forever(still not one of my favorites on the album, forgive me) and I guess brushed off or didn’t REALLY listen to Jonylah. But loved King Nas despite not particularly knowing its meaning.

All that said, i’m on a long drive and gave the album a relisten. I cried. Finding out Jonylah was a six month old baby shot in a drive by shooting was heartbreaking. Gut wrenching. One of the saddest songs ever.

I now realize these songs are connected (duh both songs have forever in there). Sharing what could have been to these two beautiful individuals is just masterclass. I hope the very most that the families of these victims have found some solace in these songs.

Then King Nas. Of course I thought this would be in tribute the rapper. Of course I was wrong. In the context of the album, this is actually a silly and downright disrespectful thought. Rapping to his two nephews King and Nas and towards their potential is brilliant. Love the advice he gives them. “Ghetto Mythologies colonize my mind constantly.”

Anyway, what are yalls thoughts on these songs and connection to the overall album? How might those nephews feel about their song? Do you think the families of these victims have heard or know about these songs

i respect him a lot but man whats with brilliant people his age continuously using generative LLMs?? it's so disheartening.

Recently had a person on IG post some throwback clips of our favorite artist Lupe Fiasco. I was then asked to share some footage I caught from seeing him live in my hometown. I remember crying on the way home to my sister and wife like “Damn, we made it out. All that time and pain I buried deep down inside as a teenager freestyling to his instrumentals with blunt in hand and taking his music as gospel and a light in my world through dark times made it real to me seeing him perform live, made it all real.” ”The Cool” helped me through soooo much I could write a book about it. I’ll keep the thread alive with footage.

First and foremost, this post contains no shade. I love all three of the artists. This is just my observation.

It was absolutely clear the crowd enjoyed and knew more songs from B.O.B and Lupe than that if Gym Class Heros. The energy from the crowd was off the charts for BOB and Lupe, while it seemed not many people even knew the words of Travis's first few songs. Multiple people even left during Travie's set.

This is speculation, but I believe that's why they made Lupe Fiasco the closing act at the Phoenix show. After seeing how the crowd reacted to each artist in denver, I left wondering why they didn't make Travis the opener.

Add to the fact, Travis mentioned quite a few times he's battled quite a few serious injuries (and an amputated toe).

The hypothesis that makes the most sense, which is actually the most heartbreaking, is lack of ticket sales. All of the shows that have been rescheduled have been rescheduled to smaller venues. They went from venues that can hold 5,000 to 8,000 people, so then use that only hold 1000 to 2,000

So back at the Denver stop of the Back to Basics tour someone was asking me if I have his entire discography and I told them yes and showed them my collection from a few years ago, which is extremely outdated so I figured I’d show the entire vinyl collection. The original pressings of F&L, The Cool and Lasers are framed and on my wall.
