Every American should have advanced proficiency in firearms. Guns can be dangerous and theyâre everywhereâŚ. (This photo shows an example of terrible muzzle control). Similarly to how there ought to be a little more behind the wheel training for driving. People die everyday in cars too.

Itâs always pretty funny to watch people who glaze the 2A suddenly start clutching their pearls when they see a minority open carrying.
23
u/chrstnasu 11h ago
Definitely they say that Alex Pretti shouldnât have brought a gun to a protest that was legally brought but Kyle Rittenhouse who illegally brought a gun to a protest was within his rights. Also, when the Black Panthers started carrying guns in California in the 60âs the republicans were more than quick to change the gun laws to deny their right to carry guns. That being said I think 2A is misinterpreted and the founding fathers would be disgusted with the amount of gun deaths because we are misinterpreting its intent.
2
2
u/davisdilf 5h ago
The intent of the second amendment was to allow armed patrols to capture escaped slaves and suppress revolts.
→ More replies (16)2
u/Basilisk1667 11h ago
100%
I can understand the intent of the 2A when muskets and basic sidearms were the norm, but if they could look 200+ years into the future and see the overwhelming variety and deadliness of modern firearms, I bet they would have added some caveats.
2
u/Xaraxa 10h ago
There we multi shot and repeating rifles back then too. The founding fathers were also alive during multiple more wars after the revolutionary and didn't add an amendment to the 2nd. The fundamental principle of firearms hasn't changed since then either. Propellant sends projectile very fast in the direction it's pointed. I believe that they were not so short sighted to think that we would be using flintlocks for the next 200 years.
2
u/CliffordSpot 7h ago
The I intent was for civilians to own firearms serviceable for military use. In fact, the courts have upheld on numerous occasions that this is the only reason for the second amendment, and that it does not protect collectors items or hunting rifles, ONLY weapons that exist to kill people.
In fact, in the early days of the US, every single adult man had a DUTY to own a gun. If we had machine guns back then, the founding fathers absolutely would have protected your right to own one. They protected your right to own a cannon.
→ More replies (12)2
u/AnAbandonedAstronaut 11h ago
The intent is still valid and applies.
We have government agencies taking non-citizens AND citizens with no due process.
The ONLY reason its not door to door is they would expect a certain % of people to be armed.
It's just like you said... there need to be some reasonable limits... but we need to hold onto it.
Especially since they already took the right to a militia away from us by saying the national guard fulfills that right.

Or getting so worked up over people not adequately bowing down to Charlie Kirk, when Kirk himself said that we all had to accept a minimum number of gun deaths per year to keep our right to bear arms.
Charlie Kirk is apparently a faultless martyr elevated to MAGA sainthood, but all of the kids shot in schools, shopping centers, clubs, and movie theaters are just statistics we should all be okay with sweeping under the rug.

Exactly why the NRA was founded. To keep black people from having guns.
3
u/ironclad_packetship 9h ago
FYI, the NRA was founded in 1871 by two Union army officers who were dismayed by the poor marksmanship demonstrated by Union army soldiers compared to Confederate soldiers. It was a marksmanship and firearm safety club meant to improve the ability of US citizens to use firearms.
You might be thinking of how the NRA supported the then-governor of California, Ronald Reagan, in signing the Mulford act which banned public carry of firearms as a direct response to the Black Panthers in 1967.
After the 1977 "Revolt at Cincinnati", the NRA's leadership was overthrown by much more radical 2nd amendment absolutists who did not share the previous leadership's fear of armed POC and adopted a universalist mentality of gun rights for everybody, although their messaging and outreach continued to focus on rural, white, conservative members.
In the early aughties, the NRA deliberately began a strong outreach towards members of minority communities, including hiring African-American influencer Colion Noir and sponsoring other POC spokespeople.

I wasn't alive during the time but the Black Panthers scared the shit out of white people. They used California's open carry law as a protest. Ronald Reagan is the reason for gun control in California. Their own god banned guns.

Honestly no one cares if they're law abiding. It's the illegally owned guns with their serial numbers scratched off that they care about. But at that point it doesn't matter what color you are.
Your theory also doesn't work. California is an outlier compared to the rest of the south where this is already a thing and it is heavily conservative.

With no knowledge of the context of the photo, only thing I'd recommend, is someone does need to train the young individual on gun safety. The main issue I have with this picture is that he's muzzling her leg. That rifle should be pointed somewhere else. One accidental trigger pull/misfire and she could have a .223 round going through her femur.

⢠Location: Downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. ⢠Date: January 17, 2026. ⢠Context: The pair went viral on social media after being photographed attending or providing security near a demonstration involving anti-ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and counter-protests. ⢠Firearm: The individual on the left is holding what appears to be a Smith & Wesson M&P15-22 rifle/pistol configuration.
