Monthly anything goes thread (things that are not an event go in here)

Hello, you amazing and beautiful people.

I am automod, and this is the monthly stickied anything goes post.

For main posts on the sub, we only allow posts that are about meetups, where everyone is invited and aren't self-promotion events.

While at the same time, people do want some of those threads! This is the anything goes (well as last as it's still being a nice human!)

So post whatever is not an event over here! Questions, looking for someone to play chess with 1-2-1, whatever you desire.

As a reminder, here's the "What is LSC" post as well. https://www.reddit.com/r/LondonSocialClub/comments/u6f3zo/what_is_londonsocialclub_2022_remix/

[30/10/2026] Voodoo's Halloween Party 👻

Hey all, it's spooky season, and Voodoo is hosting its usual Halloween Party at 9 pm on the 30th. A few of us decided to go during the last Friday meetup, so I figured I'd make it an official meetup so anyone else interested can join.

We'll meet at 📍The Peacock at 8:30 pm for predrinks, and from there it's only a 2 minute walk to Electrowerkz. If you arrive at the Peacock but don't see us, just text me on here, and I'll come get you at the entrance. I'll be the guy in the spiderpunk costume, so you can't miss me 🤣🤘

Happy Halloween Weirdos 👻👻

[27/10/26] & [03/11/26] Beginner-friendly horror RPG one-shots @ Hounslow (West London)

• Upvotes

Hey everyone! 🙂

I'm back with a couple more tabletop RPG sessions in Hounslow, this time with some spooky adventures for the Halloween season! 🎃

If you've ever fancied trying a tabletop role-playing game but haven't had the chance, these are a great way to give it a go. No previous experience is needed, everything you need to play will be provided.

There are two adventures to choose from. Both are standalone adventures, so there's no ongoing campaign commitment. Pre-generated characters, dice and other essentials will be provided and the GM (Game Master) will help you get started:

🩸 Mystery Flesh Pit National Park - "Candy Corn" adventure (up to 5 players)

A weird horror adventure set in a very unusual national park. Halloween has arrived, an experimental device has gone missing deep within the Pit and the company sending you in insists that everything is perfectly safe. What could possibly go wrong?

👻 Call of Cthulhu - "The Haunting" adventure (up to 4 players)

Step into 1926 Boston and investigate a supposedly haunted property. The owner wants to know what's going on before he can rent the place out. Surely there's a perfectly rational explanation for everything... right?

🎲 Details

📅 Tuesday 27 October (Candy Corn) and Tuesday 3 November (The Haunting)
🕖 Games start around 7pm (usually end around 10:30pm)
📍 The Hanworth, 48 Hanworth Road, Hounslow, TW3 1UG

The pub is within walking distance of Hounslow Central and Hounslow railway station, making it convenient for people around West London.

The sessions are free to join, with no membership requirement or minimum spend at the pub. They're simply an opportunity to play something different, meet some fellow geeks and enjoy a bit of tabletop horror. 🙂

If you're interested, feel free to comment or send me a message and I'll point you towards the sign-up details.

Beginners are very welcome, so don't worry if you've never played an RPG before!

Hope to see some of you there!

[19/10/26] Looking for 1 extra for an extremely casual 5-a-side football match in Stratford!

• Upvotes

Group of fellas that played footy for the first time together a few weeks ago, and a handful from LSC joined us as well. We're at 9 people so far, so need one more for the 10. We're not an intimidating lot at all, just a bunch of chaps who want to play football after watching the World Cup all month. Ages 25-40.

We have a pitch booked in Stratford at 19:00 for one hour. It's £8 per person - preferably payment via bank transfer but if you'd prefer to bring cash on the night then that's fine.

Drop me a DM if interested!

Going Ahead [22/10/26] Rookie Badminton 🏸 – Thursday 7:15 PM–8:15 PM – Island Gardens

Hey everyone!

We're playing again this Thursday, 7:15 PM – 8:15 PM, at George Green's School, near Island Gardens DLR.

Quite a few people from our previous games are coming back, which is honestly really nice to see. I've managed to get us some extra court space this week as well.

We had a few complete beginners join us alongside people who hadn't played in years, and everyone seemed to have a good time.

When I started putting this together, I wasn't really sure if anyone would turn up, so seeing people actually coming back each week makes me quite happy.

Anyway, if anyone fancies joining us, you're more than welcome. Doesn't matter if you've never played before or haven't picked up a racket in 10 years. We're all pretty much rookies here!

Just comment or DM me and I'll share the details.

Hopefully see a few of you on Thursday! 🏸

[19/10/26] Hammersmith Hang Out

Looking to spend a Monday evening a week chatting with friendly redditors? Hammersmith Hang Out is for you.

So what happens at this meetup?

Each week this meet up is held in a pub - we all sit around some tables and generally chat about anything we can think of.. that's pretty much all there is to it! There are usually a few who will get dinner from the Thai restaurant at the pub. We get people aged from 18 to in their 60s, but the majority are 24-40. You can turn up at any time, people usually start leaving between 9 and closing, there are nearly always plenty left at closing time (last orders - 11). Currently we are getting 10-15 people turning up.

Do you talk about reddit and memes all evening?

No! reddit is hardly ever mentioned, there are no laptops in sight and we've had plenty of people who have not used reddit.

Can I come along?

Of course - that is why it is posted on LSC each week, the meet up is very newbie friendly - we have people new to LSC join us regularly. If you're very very shy don't hesitate to message/text/call me ahead of the pub and let me know, I'll do what I can to get you chatting away with everyone as if you've been every week.

What if I don't want alcohol?

No problem! The pub also serves various soft drinks, fruit juices, tea, coffee and water. We have non-drinkers often.

Since after the above people still asked...

I'm ********* is it OK if I come along?

We have had men, women, transgender, British, foreign (even a northerner or two), gay, straight, drinkers, non-drinkers, smokers, non-smokers, religious and non-religious

In fact, the only people who wouldn't be welcome are those under 18 or anyone who is not able to conduct themselves appropriately in an adult social situation.

Each week we typically get a mix of regulars, people who drop by occasionally and a few newbies.

Please note that this meetup occurs every Monday**

Is this happening today?

Is today Monday?

Yes: Yes! It'll be today\**

No: Nope, try next Monday\**

Aww, I missed this when is the next one?

Monday**

** we meet on public holidays, but if Monday falls on Christmas or New Years Day we'll likely skip those.

Initial meetup.

Location/Time: Latymers, W6 8BS / People often start turning up from 19:00ish but can be as early as 18:30. I'll get there for 19.30ish. There are usually a few people left when the pub closes - usually 23:00

The first table will either be outside or at the front to the right of the door. (also, there will be Reddit on the reserved signs And hopefully Snoo ). The bar staff also know who we are if you're not sure. There is no need to book a space/get a ticket.

There's an optional Whatsapp group for the meetup -it's pretty much only me posting this link each week and trying to get people to actually respond.. If you really do want to join it just ask around at the meetup.

^_^ [18/10/26] Come and talk about the end of the world and socialise a bit. In a Weatherspoons, of all places

Hey LSC.

There's a small group of us who occasionally meet down in London at the Penderel's Oak Weatherspoons (283-288 High Holborn, London WC1V 7HP) to discuss our feelings about the end of the world, climate collapse or whatever else is on your mind. It'll be at 1pm this year, and continue until we collectively get sick of each others faces.

The point of the meet is that some people do feel a bit of anxiety about the way things might be going with all the stuff that's slowly creeping out about it, and it's hard to talk to friends and family about it without being a complete downer. Like, if your mate says "hey, can you pass the potatoes" and you just blurt out "AT LEAST WE STILL HAVE POTATOES AND ALL THE PENGUINS WILL DIE" that's sort of a bit awkward. So people don't.

We just want to create a space for people to speak their mind. And I'm kidding about the potatoes, have you seen how aggressively those bad-boys grow? They're the cockroaches of the plant world, and even tastier.

---

Anyway, just to get some questions out the way: -

Are you a cult? No, we're not a cult. There will be no handshakes, no reading backwards off ancient tablets, and the only money you're going to need to part with is a couple of quid for slightly flat Coca Cola at spoons.

Why are we going to spoons? Well, it's cheap, innit. Think about me, I'm coming down from Leicester, have you even seen the train prices these days?

Do I need to be a prepper, own a farmstead, or have my own plans to survive the end of everything? No, absolutely not. This is a small forum to talk about the little anxieties in the back of your mind and get them out in front of people who understand. It's not all about planning for anything. If you REALLY want to discuss something, we advise you to BYOB (Bring Your Own Barcharts in this case) as the day is pretty unstructured.

Are you all miserable? Well, no, not really. The last meet was pretty fun, somebody bought Jenga. It's just a bit of gulag camaraderie at the worst, but for much of the time it's pretty light hearted given the subject matter. On a personal level, I'm super miserable and grumpy and all that, but it's not just going to be me there.

---

So, wanna come? If so, just sort of turn up. PM me and I'll show you a picture of myself so you can identify the correct table.

Perhaps see you there!

Going Ahead [16/10/2026] Friday Drinks @ Penderel's Oak, Holborn - 7:30pm

I don't know about you, but I could do with blowing off some steam at the end of this week!

Because the weather is starting to turn, this week's Friday drinks will start in Penderel's Oak in Holborn at 7:30pm.

You must be 18+ but outside of the standard rules, everyone is welcome. We usually stay at the pub until closing time (midnight).

My name is Jade, I'll update on the day with where I am in the pub and how to find me (with my glamorous co-host Jamie) :)

UPDATE: Here now!! Ground floor, at the end of the long row of tables in the middle by the side doors. Look for a girl with long ginger/blonde hair, a red vest and a half/half chequered/plain overshirt (you'll know it when you see it).

If you have trouble finding me, just PM me.

Archived [16/10/26] East London craft beer @ Munich Cricket Club Tower Hill

Hi all, looking to create a semi regular social group in East London around craft beers but also to allow people to find small sub groups to do things like climbing/running/gaming/Coffee/table top gaming in the area. Pop by to meet some people. I'm 45M and the last event had someone turn up.

I'll be there at Friday 7 PM for a drink.

It's technically October so I thought we should revisit the Munich Cricket Club in Tower Hill. I had a great time last year and tbh I'm going back for the food. Also strangely, i think it was colder than when we did it last year in September.

Munich Cricket Club

How to get there

Going Ahead [18/10/26] Book Club Meetup - 4PM @ Finsbury Circus Gardens

Hello! We are back with the third edition of the Book Club Meetup.

The goal remains the same - to meet up and speak about what you’re currently reading, have been reading in the past, want to read, etc. We bring our books/kindles and go around the group speaking of the titles. Some people bring snacks or drinks. Some bring friends. But most come solo so don’t be shy!

Last few editions have seen some good debates and I personally have been introduced to some really interesting titles. What I love most is that the discussion never lingers around just books, we have always moved onto other things - films, politics, london, etc.

When: 18th of October 2026, Sunday, 4PM

Where: Finsbury Circus Gardens, EC2M 7DT (Nearest station is Moorgate)

I’m 24F, really into cinema, reading, techno, and traveling.

There’s a whatsapp group if you’d like to join (dm me for the link), but feel free to just show up. The only rule is that you don’t be an asshole.

See you:)

Archived [16/10/26] Regular Friday dinner 🍕

Heyo!

I’m (M33) thinking of organising a regular Friday dinner, restaurants around or near the Central.

A few ideas to keep things simple:

  • When: Fridays, around 7:30 pm
  • Group size: Ideally 4–6 people. Any more than that can get tricky to manage.
  • Budget: Around £25 per person

The idea is to enjoy some good food, discover new places, and have a relaxed evening with good company.

The plan for the first night is Franco Manca Covent Garden, if all happy.
