Hi all, I checked that the watermark option is toggled off on the export settings, but it still includes it with every picture I send. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
TL:DR: Sporadic shooter considering dropping LRC for Luminar Web.
When i was in my late teens till early thirties i’ve been a fanatic, semi pro photographer to a hobbyist. Now in my mid thirties I’ve only used LRC a hand full of times a year. Mainly for holidays and sometimes for work events. When I shoot i do so in RAW i do feel the need to edit after. I am used to LRC, use LR sporadically if i edit on iPad. But I can’t justify the subscription fee anymore even at its lowest tier. My macbook Pro (last intel gen) is managing but struggling more and more. My current laptop is an ARM Surface laptop that can’t handle LRC.
I got a mail promoting Luminar Web (with mobile included as a gift). It is a one time buy for 70 bucks. I’ve used an old version of Luminar which was fine but a bit slow with RAW files. This seems improved now. The romantic in me wants to keep LRC because I still feel like a photographer but reality is catching up with me. I just need a tool to sporadically edit a photo that goes beyond the basic sliders without a subscription.
Anybody able to give me a comparison from experience?
What's the best Lightroom Classic course for a complete beginner? I'm looking for something that explains all the tools and settings step by step, so I can actually understand how to edit photos rather than just copy someone's settings.
I just read another post on here and some of you said you pay up to $50 an hour for photo editing?
That’s crazy.
I might as well quit photography and stick to editing at that point. 😭
Considering 80% of “editing” nowadays is done with presets and luts, I don’t understand why anyone would even go near $20/hour.
Hit me up if you want a photo editor. I’ll gladly take $10 an hour. Seriously. That’s our average wage here in Puerto Rico.
So unless you live in California or Washington DC where the average hourly wage is $57/hour… I just don’t see it. At that point just hire someone out-of-state to edit for you.
Long time LR Classic user. My workflow for getting a photo to my phone for Instagram was: export to desktop, AirDrop to phone, save, post. Every single time.
So over the past day I built a plugin that does it in one keystroke. Select the photo you want, hit Option+S, and it exports (2048px sRGB JPEG, 90% quality, IG-ready) and sends it to your phone over iMessage. Lands in Messages a few seconds later, tap to save, post it. Done.
Some implementation notes for anyone curious:
- It's a Lua plugin (the only thing LR Classic supports) that renders the photo and shells out to a CLI tool called imsg to actually send the iMessage, because the obvious AppleScript approach for sending attachments is broken on recent macOS. Took me embarrassingly long to figure that out.
- iCloud Photos sync was my first attempt at this. It works but the sync delay made it useless for the "edit, send, post" flow. iMessage is instant.
- Your phone number goes in a config file that's gitignored, so it never leaves your machine if you clone the repo.
Install is one line if you trust random curl|bash (no judgment either way, the script is short and readable if you want to look first):
One caveat: you need Full Disk Access enabled for Lightroom, and the first run will throw a couple of macOS permission dialogs at you. Both are one-time things.
Happy to answer questions or take feature requests. The thing I'm most unsure about is the export settings being hardcoded - if people want a size/quality picker I can add it.
I hate editing. And I just got a quote from a friend of mine who is willing to edit my shoots for $20 an hour. He said he can edit up to 30 pics an hour but my shoots are normally full-day events which can net me 600+ pictures… so the math turns out kinda high.
Here Lightroom Classic 14.3.1,. Those on the latest version can you zoom in/out while in Print mode view? Same as zoom option in Library and Devrlop mode.
We use lightroom mobile heavily within our photo studio because of the seamless workflow with our LR web on PC. But with the recent update the app keeps crashing and viewing cloud albums and photos takes 2 to 3 business days. Is there a work around? We tried reinstalling the app and still the same. We are tried using the latest m4 ipads but to no avail. Seems like the newest version is very unoptimized.
Hello, I recently downloaded Adobe Lightroom Classic (v.15.6), but whenever I try to open it I am met with a flash of the opening splash screen before it crashes (or just closes, I'm not sure) and haven’t been able to open it at all. I was using regular Lightroom previously and that works perfectly fine. I have never used Lightroom Classic before on any computer.
For reference, I'm on a Mac with an Apple M4 Pro chip (if that matters) on the latest update 27.0.1. I was on the previous update before, and it didn't work then either, so I tried updating to see if that would fix it. I've tried restarting my computer, deleting Lightroom Classic and redownloading it, downloading a previous version (got the same issue), and opening it with shift+option as I've heard that's also a fix. If I click "reset preferences" when I open it with shift+option, all it does is load a little before crashing again. The "start normally" option does the same thing.
If I hover over the app in my dock, it'll say "Running in Background" for a few seconds after the splash screen disappears, before that text disappears as well and the app shows as closed. Trying to open an image with Lightroom Classic doesn't work either, although it stays open for a few seconds longer than usual before closing again. The splash screen never says anything except the credits and “Reading preferences…”
If I could get some help with this that’d be great! I’m seriously lost. Thanks.
we’ve been working on Lumapress, a free plugin that connects Elgato Stream Deck with Adobe Lightroom Classic.
Until now, controlling Lightroom with a Stream Deck usually meant buying a third-party plugin or setting up a combination of Midi2LR and additional MIDI tools. Lumapress connects the two applications directly, without a MIDI layer in between.
You can assign Lightroom functions to the buttons on any Stream Deck model. On the Stream Deck + and Stream Deck + XL, the dials and touch strip can also control development settings such as exposure, white balance, contrast, HSL, Color Grading and mask adjustments. Pressing a dial resets the corresponding value.
The download includes the Stream Deck plugin, the Lightroom Classic plugin and example profiles for every current Stream Deck model. The profiles are only a starting point. You can change the assignments or build your own setup from scratch.
Lumapress is available for macOS 13 or later. A Windows 10 and 11 beta is included as well. It requires Lightroom Classic 15 or later and Stream Deck 7.1 or later.
The plugin is free, including professional use. You do not need an account or a newsletter subscription to download it.
There is also a separate free icon pack for anyone who wants to customise their profiles.
Lumapress is made by the team behind aftersnap. If you try it, we’d genuinely like to hear what works, what feels unclear and which Lightroom functions you would like us to add next.
I have a gallery a friend is editing for me. I want to send her RAWs via Google Drive. I went into the photos and edited out skin blemishes to save her time.
How can I export these photos with my edits and keep them RAW for her to send via Google Drive? I tried original + settings and it gave me other files of each photo (3 files for each photo) and took forever to try and upload so it didn’t seem right.
Before I get hated in comments yes I know there is a Lightroom mobile app it is NOT the same as Desktop classic.
Just wondering am I the only one that wishes there was a Lightroom Classic for mobile? I have the regular mobile app and tbh it stinks you dont have near the masking tools like on classic, there is no object mask, no auto detect Landscape Mask, and probably more but these are the main ones I personally use. So the only way to get a semi Lightroom classic feeling from a mobile standpoint is to go to the web version of lightroom, run it as Desktop Site mode (mobile view does not let you edit only view your cloud files 🙄) and then install it is as a web app. This does gives you the other masks that classic has, however it is even more buggy, for example when you hold on the eyepiece to see the original or hold on your silder to move it (because its still an web app not an regular app) your browser thinks you are needing to right click which is done by long pressing. Just very frustrating! Is this a me problem with a setting or something or is this just the way it is when it comes to the mobile side of lightroom?
I'm the maker of SelectPack, a free, no-account browser tool for a Lightroom-adjacent task: a client sends selected JPGs back, and you need copies of the corresponding RAWs.
Update: you can now drop individual client JPG/JPEG files into the tool, or choose them with its file picker. It reads their filenames, adds them to the editable list and selects RAW matching automatically. Pasting filenames still works.
The workflow:
Choose your local originals folder, then drop the client-selected JPGs into the marked box. With the originals ready, matching runs automatically. You can also add the JPGs first and choose the originals afterward.
Review matched, missing and ambiguous results. It compares the complete filename stem, ignoring letter case and extension. DSC_1042.JPG can match DSC_1042.NEF; a renamed client-pick-7.jpg cannot be linked by its appearance. Two RAWs sharing a stem are ambiguous, even in different folders.
Export confirmed matches as separate copies in a new folder or ZIP, with a CSV report. Unresolved items block file export unless you explicitly accept a partial result. Originals stay unchanged.
JPG input uses filenames only, not image contents. Files and lists stay in your browser. This works outside Lightroom; it does not read or change Lightroom catalogs, flags or edits, or connect to email.
Start with a small test set in desktop Chrome/Edge. ZIP output is capped at 200 MiB; large jobs haven't been validated.
EDIT: Synced to lightroom cloud, allowing access to full raws on other devices.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
I have 1 Master Catalog that is [mostly] synced with the cloud.
Half the photos (all of which have the originals synced to the cloud) are my personal/travel photos while the other half (none are synced) are from weddings and events I do on the side.
I exported all of my professional work to another catalog, and now that catalog is blazing fast. For example, I wanted to make sure standard previews were built for all of those photos. In the new catalog, it was quick to start and detect that they were all already built. On my synced catalog, it takes a few moments to even begin and halts/slows down at some point, even when syncing is paused.
Currently have it set up to use my home Windows PC as a homebase and use my Macbook/iPad on the go. With the master catalog running much slower, feels like a waste of time.
Hello there. I recently lost access to my Adobe Lightroom CC subscription and forgot to write down the settings I've changed within my own made presets. Is there a way for me to retrieve these in any way without having the subscription?
So my keyword search, which was working a couple days ago, is now completely broken. I could type in "bird" and it would find every photo of a bird. It was crazy how detailed I could sometimes get and it would still find the photo.
Today, it's absolutely broken. I type in "bird" and its everything but birds.
There was no software update between the time it was working and now. It is broken on both of my systems, so I don't believe it's localized to one machine.
I'm writing this post hoping someone might have had a similar experience and would be able to help, I was editing some photos in Lightroom yesterday evening when my laptop crashed and restarted, since then I've not been able to open Lightroom or Creative Cloud, when I try to start either application I get the same result: nothing, literally nothing is happening after I try to run them..
I've tried all the suggestions I found via google, deleted .shm and .lock files, updated Windows, used all types of key combinations to try to open the apps, run as administrator, but nothing, I'm not even able to uninstall the apps as when I click on uninstall nothing is happening either🤦♀️Some files might have been damaged or something and I can't figure out what, it's incredibly frustrating as I've had a subscription for like two weeks and have barely used the apps, could anyone please give me some ideas on what I could do to fix this issue?
I'm having an issue with Lightroom Classic on my MacBook Pro, running the latest version of both Lightroom Classic and macOS Golden Gate.
When viewing a photo in fullscreen mode, Lightroom is supposed to keep the image below the MacBook's notch, leaving a black area at the top of the screen. This used to work perfectly.
However, something has changed. When I press L to activate Lights Out, the image gets squeezed horizontally, and the entire fullscreen layout seems to resize incorrectly. The image looks squashed rather than maintaining its proper aspect ratio. Toggling Lights Out off doesn't fix it.
I want to keep the notch hidden, so disabling the macOS "Scale to fit below built-in camera" option isn't an ideal workaround.
I've seen reports of similar behavior in older versions of Lightroom, but I'm wondering whether anyone else is experiencing this on the latest macOS and Lightroom Classic versions.
Has anyone found a permanent fix that preserves the correct fullscreen layout while keeping the notch hidden?
I'm an a7 V owner and Sony user since the a7 III. I grew tired of waiting for proper camera matching profiles in Lightroom, so I built my own set of profiles for every Creative Look (except Sepia, because why would I). Some of you may remember I posted a method using another camera as donor some months ago, but that was far from perfect, so I kept trying new methods.
It took me about two months. I measured the sensor's response myself and built the profiles from scratch. I'll admit the attention to detail got a bit obsessive (ask my wife). In my tests they're very hard to tell apart from the camera's own JPEGs.
The photo is one example: left is the straight-out-of-camera JPEG with the IN Creative Look and every setting at zero in camera, right is the raw in Lightroom with my profile and all sliders at zero.
Before releasing the full set, I want to make sure the profiles work well for other people, on other systems and with other photos, not just mine. So I'm starting with a small beta for one look, IN (Instant): 50 free spots, a7 V only, works in Lightroom, Lightroom Classic and Camera Raw. If you want to try it: https://razorcolor.com/beta?lang=en
To be upfront: the full set will be paid, at a modest price. This is my first go at a small business. I've put a lot of hours into this and I think it's worth it, especially if you've been waiting for these profiles like I was. Adobe will probably release theirs at some point, which is great, but matching the camera as closely as possible is the whole point of mine, so I'm pretty confident they'll hold up side by side.
If this goes well, the plan is to keep going with other cameras. And for cameras that don't have the FL2 and FL3 Creative Looks, I'd add them as part of their packs (the a7 IV is already done). Heck, maybe even port them to Capture One and other alternatives (but that's offtopic).
Happy to answer questions. And if you try the beta, I'd love to hear how it does on your photos, especially anything that doesn't match.
PS: I have this strange, mixed feeling about this. I really put hours into this and I truly understand the complexity that Adobe faces when trying to make their camera matching profiles for the a7 V, but I still find it hard to beleive that I may have beaten them to it. I'm still damn proud, though.
I've recently switched from PC to Mac, and one thing I'm really missing is my photo culling workflow.
On Windows, I used an Xbox controller with custom key mappings. I mapped the analogue sticks and buttons to navigate through photos, assign star ratings, and reject images. It made culling thousands of wedding photos so much faster and more comfortable.
However, I'm struggling to find a similar app on macOS that lets me map Xbox controller inputs to keyboard shortcuts.
I've tried a few apps (even paid for some), but they either don't work properly or keep crashing.
Does anyone here use an Xbox controller for photo culling on a Mac? If so, what app are you using to map the controls?
I'd love to recreate my Windows workflow without having to go back to using the keyboard all the time.
I photograph families, kids, and high school seniors, and my sessions tend to be pretty active. I'll have clients run toward each other, cuddle, dance, walk around, and generally move around while I move with them, capturing candid moments from different angles and positions.
My usual camera (Sony A7iii) setup is to keep my aperture and shutter speed fixed and let Auto ISO handle the exposure. I like having control over my depth of field and shutter speed while letting the camera compensate for changing lighting conditions as I move around.
The alternative would be to use a fixed ISO, but that can leave me with hundreds of images at noticeably different brightness levels, depending on where I was standing, the direction I was shooting, or how the light was falling on my subjects.
The problem is that even with Auto ISO, I still end up with exposure inconsistencies across a session. When culling and editing a few hundred photos, I'd love to find a reliable way to get everything looking consistent without having to manually adjust the exposure of individual images.
I've tried Lightroom Classic's Match Total Exposures feature, but I haven't had much luck with it. It definitely changes the exposures, but the resulting images often seem less consistent in brightness than they were before I applied it.
So I'm curious about a few things:
Is there a better way to use Match Total Exposures, or am I misunderstanding what it's designed to do?
Are there other Lightroom tools or workflows that work better for evening out exposure across a large batch of photos?
Do you edit exposure in smaller groups, sync settings across similar shots, or just adjust each image individually?
For those shooting active portrait sessions, is Auto ISO generally the best approach, or is there a better camera or editing workflow?
I'd especially love to hear from photographers who regularly shoot moving subjects in changing light and have to edit hundreds of images from a single session.
I'm not necessarily looking for perfectly identical exposures across every image. I just want a reasonably consistent look throughout the gallery without spending ages correcting each photo individually.
