What novel(s) have you read this week, and what do you think about it?
This week = the one that ends/ended right now, past 7 days.
The reason for this thread's existence is the fact that both requests and suggestions became kind of stale. It's supposed to bring out more novels that are not RT!'d or recommended. Also, it's quite useful for the discussion of not so current titles.
Also, not a rule or any kind of criticism, the more interesting part is not the list of the stuff you read, but your impressions of it.
Loli Mod will be posting this thread each week.
Lastly, don't forget to use spoiler tags and to make sure to report any untagged spoilers.
How to use spoiler-tags:
Typing:
>!Spoilers go here!<
Will show up as:

Do note that any space at the beginning/end of the tag will break the spoiler tag.
I have read The Beginning After The End and Classroom Of The Elite. It has been a while tough. Right now ı am looking for somethıng fun and not too long. I am okey with any genre but ı am more interested in academy settings, mind games, aura farmer mc (yeah ı know its crınge to say this but ı just want to read it for fun), ı dont need great story as long as its fun and exciting to read. And these categories doesnt have to lımıt your recommendations. Academy setting is very very optınal. I dont care about it much.
Title pretty much says it all. Can be from student or teacher's perspective (or both), but the master/disciple dynamic, as well as the subject being taught, should continue for a large portion of the story. I'm not looking for some quick training arc before heading off on their own.
I'm also okay with WNs and manga, but LN is generally best.
The *Unnamed Memory* series has not yet concluded, but given the immense flexibility afforded by the power of the Eletheria pair, it can serve as a foundation for various narrative possibilities. While I certainly respect the original work, its tone is quite light and it leaves the depth of the characters largely unexplored; therefore, I would like to create some fan-driven alternatives—all while remaining strictly within community guidelines and age-rating standards. After all, even within the original story, there are subtle hints—appearing before Tinasha and Oscar wield the Eletheria pair together—that suggest other potential outcomes, ranging from the tragic to the happy.
Was a decent read for the first 45 chapters but wack translations and protagonist having some sort of super saiyan mode just cause he was mad, made this a bad read. Ong, I was enjoying this but he did not need this “anger” mode where he gets a second wind of energy. Even Maria commented as him getting that second wind cliche. Should I read it more or start on another good novel?
I've been working on Nether Teller, a project that turns Korean web novels into immersive audiobooks featuring:
Multiple character voices for dialogue and narration
Sound effects (SFX) for atmosphere and action
Visuals accompanying the audiobooks on YouTube
Free reading and listening
Currently available novels:
I Picked Up a Grimoire and Became a Wizard
I'm an Infinite Regressor, But I've Got Stories to Tell
Got Dropped in a Ghost Story, Still Gotta Work (Parts 1–3)
A Knight Who Eternally Regresses
Dropped into Murim with an Instant Kill Skill
Sure AI is used for this process, but everything runs through a custom-coded pipeline designed to maintain consistency and accuracy across character voices, narration, and visuals. I'm continuously refining and improving it to deliver higher-quality audiobooks. Some of the adaptation has been really good check them out.
Are there any jap novels you'd like to see adapted into this format? I'd love to hear your suggestions and feedback!
I read a novel a while ago where the MC has a medical issue and needs sex so he goes to prostitutes. He is close with all the people and they are basically Yakuza. While there he sees a classmate who's family was in debt and abandoned her. He buys her under the condition she helps him with his medical issue.
It has a fantasy twist where there's actually demon king and heros and while minimal it does turn out the mc and girl where childhood friend who were infected with a curse or something during the last invasion and they forget each other and then eventually remember.
Im lookin for series that are kinda centered around guild adventuring. Like slice of life isekais. I been looking but want some opinions on what yall have read and like thanks!
I just started buying and collecting my own light novels but I’ve been wondering whether light novels have the same problem of yellowing like mangas do. If they do, is there any way to prevent or reduce yellowing?
The mc has a power where she/he can view thing from Very far away. I think that his main skill/power. And it can also control things like a body/clone or magic from far away.
That's actually what i remember, sorry if it's inconvenient. I only read this on post and forgot to save it huhu.
Recently I read Reborn as a space mercenary and it made me realize I enjoy a story orders of magnitude more when the protagonist and love interest(s) get in a relationship early on and the story progresses with them in a relationship and the challenges it may posses. I don't even need them to have a formal relationship, just to acts like it's one, in space mercenary they flirt, they get romantic they act like a couple, they communicate and the main plot goes on while that happens in the background at times or in between action and I loved it.
I'm tired of "will they won't they", tired of multiple girls orbitating some guy with nothing ever happening, tired of handholding by volume 55 being the first contact and tired of protagonists acting like a scheming eunuch from the Qin dynasty around women that clearly love him.
I am aware of the other works of the same author than Reborn as a space mercenary so I have them on my list, but I want to know about more series with this kind of writing style.
I do not mind if its a harem or if it is normal romance, if its erotica or ecchi or safe, I just want them to be normal people and if they like each other then they get in a damn relationship when it's natural for it to happen so that I can enjoy some romanticism through the series without waiting 'till last volume for it to bear fruit.
I know true harem is not very popular around here but if can get just one more series to read then it's all worth it. I would really appreciate it.
Can anyone please point me towards a good listing site with good ui and correct tags as i allways need to find new titles and searching on google and chatgpt isnt working anymore
i need a site which can filter according to tags and give info on how many volumes out yet, status, and possibily reviews

I just finsihed reading Damn Reincarnation and truly it was an enjoyable read for me. I was hoping I could get some reccomendation of something similar in terms of the MC.
MC's that are quite smart in what they are doing and set in a fantasy theme stories. Of course other reccomendations are welcome too since Im new to LN reading world. Thank youuu!!
I've been looking for the ln of gimai seikatsu because I saw the anime and im kinda interested but wherever I've looked i can only find after like volume 7/8 but I kinda wanna read it from the first volume
Randomly grabbed the series on a whim and have been enjoying it. The dark fantasy with the scheming and plotting and all happening. It’s also really interesting to see how Oakley has been trying to handle all the different things constantly on his back foot. Since the 4th volume is finished and seemingly the series is maybe on hiatus needs something else to read.
And I would prefer if the mental conflicts go deeper than just the sexuality change, it would be interesting to see how the character might cope going from an analytical and introverted male brain to an extroverted female brain more inclined towards compassion (just an example, the story should probably avoid the implication that the brains of men and women in general are different in this way, instead emphasizing that the specific two brains this character has inhabited are different in this way). I would like it if these mental conflicts are central to the character's development, shit like acknowledging the way they've changed and accepting the way they are now instead of holding onto old habits.
The only example I have read is in So I'm a Spider, So What? In this series there is a side character that went from male to female and then discovered that she is attracted to men now when she is saved by a certain boy that was in the same class as her in her past life. But the series really didn't have time to spare on her, when we first meet her she was already past the stage where she was totally freaked out by the genderswap and then later we see she has become accepted as one of the girls by her female classmates from their past life and we see a small bit of her struggle in getting a certain boy to see her as a woman rather than the same boy she was before. Ultimately her character arc isn't terribly important to the overall story, so we only rarely get to see her thoughts and struggles and such.
I am posting this here because I suspect light novels are where I should look first to find this kind of story but I am totally willing to branch out to whatever might match what I'm looking for so please let me know if you're aware of a story like this that isn't an LN.
What series are complete and have a complete audiobook adaptation? The series I have read/currently am reading are.
Mushoku tensia/ redundant reincanation
Neon genises evangelion anima
Spice & wolf
I enjoy reading WN and LN but I like to listen to audiobook when I go walking place like to work and stuff so can I get some suggestions of series that are complete (at least the main story) and have a complete audiobook adaptation?
Hey yall, recently ive been more into the school days lore and characters, and I realized of a couple school days game releases that were never localized in any other country besides Japan. Thats fine, but I can't find a way to purchase any of the overflow vacation light novels. Is there anywhere I can find the game? Information about it is so scrubbed.

About 4 months ago, I started collecting physical light novels seriously. At first, I just wanted to fill my bookshelf with series I liked. I thought I'd buy a few volumes here and there, but things got a little out of hand lol. I started hunting for second-hand books on local marketplaces, comparing prices between stores, and looking for good deals. Sometimes I found volumes for 40–50k VND ( ~ 1-2$), occasionally even cheaper. Eventually, I started buying entire sets instead of individual volumes. Oregairu, Bunny Girl Senpai, Alya, Angel Next Door, Otome game, InoBato, Shimotsuki, and a bunch of single novels or Makoto Shinkai novels are now part of my collection.
One of the biggest turning points was a book fair where I bought quite a lot of books. The problem? I still had plenty of unread books at home. After that, I had more than a dozen sealed books waiting to be opened, plus several more on the way. I also spent over 6 million VND (~ 300$ ) on books in roughly three months. Seeing that number made me realize how quickly things had escalated. I wasn't just buying books I wanted to read anymore. Sometimes, I bought them because the price was good or because I was afraid I wouldn't find them again. After finding books for 10–50k( ~ 1-2$), paying 90–100k (~ 3-4$) for one volume suddenly felt expensive, even when that was a normal price.
At least, finishing Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu vol. 12.5 reminded me why I started collecting in the first place. I'd been reading that series for a long time, so finally finishing it felt pretty special.I even had a proper bookshelf made and started worrying about humidity, dust, and how to keep the books in good condition for decades. Meanwhile, my reading speed definitely couldn't keep up with my buying speed.
Recently, I've been trying to slow down. I cancelled an order for two novels because I realized I was buying them mostly out of FOMO. There are still books I want, and finding second-hand copies with their original bookmarks is surprisingly difficult, but I'm trying to prioritize the books I already own instead of constantly looking for the next deal.
I still love collecting. I just don't want to reach the point where buying books becomes more enjoyable than actually reading them.
For those of you who collect physical light novels, did you also go through a phase where you bought way more than you could read? How did you manage to slow down without losing the fun of collecting?
