What is Lehigh’s social culture like?

I’m considering applying ED to Lehigh for mechanical engineering, and I really liked the school when I visited. One thing I’m a little worried about is the social scene.

I know Lehigh has a big Greek life and party culture, and I’m not necessarily against parties or going out. I just don’t want to feel like drinking and partying are the main ways people socialize. I’d love to have a mix of going out sometimes and just hanging out with friends, gaming, doing projects, etc.

For students who aren’t involved in Greek life or aren’t that into drinking, what has your social experience been like? Have you found your people, and do you ever feel like you’re missing out on a big part of campus life? Again, I’m not against drinking, I just don’t want to be surrounding by people who only care about partying and in turn making it a huge part of my life.

I’d really appreciate honest answers!

What is engineering culture like?

I really like Lehigh cause it has great engineering but you’re not surrounded constantly by engineering like a polytechnic institution. However, what are the engineers like at Lehigh? Obviously it’s not possible to know 100% what they’re like but I was wondering if there’s still some of that nerdiness (no offense, I’m a nerd deep down too, hence why I’m wondering) in the classes. Like in my robotics class rn in high school, even though I’ve not formally introduced myself to a good third of the class, we all just act like we’ve known each other and I could probably tell you half the things each kid is into (videogames, interests, etc) without even knowing them. So I was wondering if that type of environment still exists there.

Anyone else hear Zen Cafe is opening soon?

I heard Zen Cafe is supposed to open sometime in the next few weeks in the spot where Saxbys used to be, and it actually sounds like it could be a sweet addition.

Apparently, if you live in an Amicus house, you get 50% off your first drink and then 20% off any other drinks and food after that, which seems like a pretty solid perk.

Has anyone heard when the actual opening date is or know anything else about the place?

No. 6 Lehigh is 5-0 after shutting Penn down for three quarters, Fordham at Goodman Saturday

Hey guys, quick look at where the Mountain Hawks stand after another win.

20-7 at Penn, and the defense was the story again: Penn was held scoreless for three quarters and to 49 rushing yards. Derek Morgan threw for a TD and ran for another, and Lehigh ran for 168 as a team. That's five straight wins over Ivy opponents.

5-0, 3-0 in the Patriot League, and No. 6 in the STATS poll. The resume is getting real: 44-20 over then-No. 16 William & Mary, road wins at Holy Cross and Georgetown, and now Dartmouth and Penn.

Saturday is Fordham at Goodman at noon, then at Cornell and at Villanova. Can anybody in the Patriot League stop this team before Lafayette in November?

What are you guys seeing? Is this a seeded playoff team?

Side note: we run a free weekly college football pick'em. 10 games, pick the winners, nothing to buy, $135 in prizes. Picks lock Saturday at noon ET, the same time Lehigh kicks off, so get your picks in before the game.

Hi there! Coming to you live from Wheeling, WV. I have 2 tickets to the Abigail Washburn & Wu Fei concert at Leheigh University for Oct. 16. Unfortunately I and my friend cannot go. They are going for $29 a pop + $6.25 in fees (total $70.50), but I am happy to let them go for $50 OBO :).

If you don’t know this duo I highly suggest you check them out! They are two of my favorite artists who, together, combine Appalachian and Chinese music in the most wonderful way.

Message me!

Volleyball??

Does anyone know a good place where I can play volleyball with others for free?? I’ve been playing for 4 years but stopped for a bit, now I’m trying to get back into it to keep me distracted from stress and loneliness. A place where anyone can play, I don’t have friend that play volleyball, and since I’m from out of state attending Lehigh University, I didn’t want to tryout for clubs or teams, I just want to play for personal enjoyment, meeting new people, and a distraction.

ESA animals experience

Hey yall. I was wondering if anybody here has a certified ESA animal, particularly a cat. If you or somebody has one on campus, living in a dorm, please I would love to hear about the experience. Not the certification process, rather the actual living situations (roommates, room type, vet access, cleanliness, people’s reactions/thoughts) really anything is appreciated.

GO HAWKS!

How's Lehigh's Pre-Med Program?

Pre-med students specifically, how do you feel about it? How hard is it to find research opportunities? I'm currently looking at schools like Case Western and trying to compare.

What does the lesbian dating scene look like at Lehigh

I'm a perspective freshman at Lehigh and one of my big things about a school is their dating scene as a girl who likes other girls. Ive heard that theres a lot of LGBT+ people on campus and the school is very accepting. However my question is, is it easy to find people to hookup with or date as a gay or lesbian person?

Also, what is the lesbian population like there, is it mostly like "green haired" people per say, or super gay people? Theres nothing wrong with that but it's just not my type personally.

In highschool I went to a very small school which was accepting but didnt nessesarily have a lot of options, so I want my experience to be different in college.

Is Lehigh a good option for a Computer Engineering PhD?

I was researching programs and saw this one was fully funded. I currently have a 4.0 in my B.S. program but I don’t think I want to do my PhD at my current school.
