So the local library had their yearly sale. I picked up gaslight, Star Trek first contact, star trek episode disk, the Seahawks and good morning Vietnam.... Then I say the graduate and picked it up as well. I was mixed up and thought it was the program where the players laid in the middle of the road. Oops.

I picked them for the cover art. All crisp and clean. What I need now is a good laser disk player to watch them if the need arises.

Also check your local libraries for gems.

Thought this might be an interesting read for any of you fans!

Given as a gift from someone who knows I enjoy electronics, but I've got no idea where to even start in terms of laserdisc players lol. Anybody able to offer any guidance? Thanks a ton!

Like the title says. I inherited this player. Pioneer CLD-V2600. I want to hook it up but I have a couple questions.

Which adapter should I use? It has the standard red/white/yellow RCA outputs and an S-Video output. Also optical audio. I want to hook it up to my new Sony Bravia 7, and I know I need an HDMI converter, but I don’t want to buy a junk one.

I’d also like the audio to pass through my TV to my Nakamichi sound bar. Pretty sure if I run optical to the TV, the eARC HDMI that runs from the TV to the soundbar will handle that. But, not 100% on it.

So bottom line question: which adapters do y’all recommend for me to hook this up?

Hi! Looking for some advice with my LD player. Bought a few months ago and it played discs (although it did make a concerning sound when loading disc). Recently moved, and after set up it won't play anything. It rejects the disc almost instantly. I know this repair might need to be done by a skilled technician, but I figured it's worth the ask! I'll add a video to show what it's doing.

Hello LaserDisc community, I am somewhat new to the format itself, and I would love to get a good quality capture of one. I have used Elgato Video Capture to capture the ones I have, but the quality is not very ideal. The 3:2 thing that’s built into the disc is burnt into the capture, and there’s no way to get rid of it. People have told me that they use AviSynth+ and VirtualDub2 to get the job done. I believe I’ve tried downloading OBS Studio on an Intel Mac from 2017 (probably not the greatest idea), and the capture card wasn’t showing up. I do have an Apple Silicon Mini from 2024 as well, would that work any better?

Just picked up this from the thrift store today for 15 dollars it doesn’t turn. I was wondering if any had any ideas on where to start

Tonight, we dive into what is arguably the ultimate holy grail for any true Takeshi r/Kitano fan: the massive 6-disc Takeshi Kitano Complete Works LD-BOX (北野武監督全集). Released by Bandai Home Video at a premium price of ¥35,000, this heavy, textured box set compiles his first 5 directorial features alongside a legendary bonus disc.

Inside this absolute treasure, you will find:

• Violent Cop (1989)
• Boiling Point (1990)
• A Scene at the Sea (1991)
• Sonatine (1993)
• Getting Any? (1994)
• The World of Takeshi Kitano (1993) — the essential 90-minute NHK documentary and making-of feature, which we previously digitized and shared back during Week 2 and Week 3 of our marathon.

Happy Kitano Friday, everyone! Spin your LaserDisc, because you can never have too much Kitano on LD. 🎴

It doesn’t show in the photo, but this transfer is beautiful.

This is one or the best version released of the movie … especially the disc 3, 4 : Behind the scenes with Paul Verhoeven and Still frame file behind the scenes never released in other movie’s version … ❤️🍷❤️

The Hot Rock (1972) doesn't get nearly as much love as it deserves. Robert Redford, George Segal, Ron Leibman, Paul Sand, Moses Gunn, Zero Mostel and others crush it in this film directed by Peter Yates (Bullitt) based on a Donald Westlake novel. If that isn't enough, Quincy Jones provides the music. One of my favorites. Grab it if you ever have the opportunity.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I know LD’s typically aren’t worth much, and the true rarity is finding a working player. I inherited these from a friend. I’m guessing the movies are pretty common and not worth a lot, but curious about the music ones, especially the Prince.

Thank you for whatever advice you can provide.

To celebrate 16 days to halloween we are running a sale on all laserdisc

Lots of new additions just in time for halloween

I love Halloween season!

I started digitizing a bunch of my old laserdiscs and VHS tapes the other day so I can enjoy them out in the wilderness via flash drive on my portable projector setup. Nothing ever beats the vibe of watching the actual physical media in my living room on my old Pioneer VP-1000 but I am really stoked to watch some of these outdoors in the woods by the campfire

I actually found a few laserdiscs in the wild for once! Wanted to grab a couple more but had to behave until payday. Might stop back this weekend.

hey, all! First time poster here but I wanted to find information that I couldn’t otherwise. For anyone who owns the classic 1996 Deluxe CAV release of Pixar’s Toy Story, can someone confirm if the shorts present on that release are presented in 4:3 or in a 1.66:1 letterbox? I’ve been looking for images around the web and haven’t found any, and would very much appreciate if anyone could help me out with my research.

The clamper arm can't grip onto a disc. This player also can't read CDs for whatever reason, but I'm more concerned with the clamper arm failing constantly. I've already swapped the belts inside with parts from LaserParts. Any tips?

This is my entire collection as of now (with a singular exception, an anime release: Magic User's Club Vol. 4. It is in storage currently.) I can't recall how long I have been collecting, but its been over a year or two for sure. My player is a Pioneer DLV-909 for anyone curious. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Idk how I've made it this far into life without seeing this movie, but im very excited to finally be watching it.
