🗞️ News Las Vegas Tourism Stats Update (Dec 2025)

Some graphs to highlight the current state of Las Vegas tourism. The three graphs highlight the tourism drawdowns relative to their peak levels historically for that month.

The graphs are:

  • Total Monthly Visitors (down 10.8% from peak levels for December)
  • Hotel Occupancy Rates (down 9% from peak levels for December)
  • Airport Passengers (down 11.7% from peak levels for December)

Las Vegas overall still looks to be in a medium recession with tourism down ~10%.
I would generally consider slowdowns on the following scale:

  • 0-4% down = slowdown
  • 4-9% down = mild recession
  • 9-20% down = medium/heavy recession
  • 20%+ down = depression

Data is from Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA)

👀 local eyes Help! Injured Cooper’s Hawk

I’m copy/pasting this to multiple platforms to find help for this Cooper’s hawk. If anyone knows someone that can help, please reach out to me:

Help! Falconers and bird rescues.. We have an injured Cooper’s hawk in our tree and his right wing appears to be injured at the shoulder. He crashed into our window, unfortunately. I saw it happen. I have called the Nevada Department of Wildlife and they referred me to a rehabilitation that they work with and I’ve reached out to him and waiting to hear back. In the meantime, I thought I’d broaden my reach to see if anyone else can rescue this beautiful hawk. We are on the edge of town in Henderson and have coyotes here all the time. If this bird isn’t able to get to safety, I strongly doubt he will make it though the night. He has been sitting in the same spot for about an hour now. If there are any people in the Vegas valley that can help, please please reach out to me. I hope to hear from the person from nevada wildlife, I just want to know if there is another way to get help for this poor bird. It’s so windy today too! ☹️ I know some may say that nature will take it’s course, however, windows are not part of nature… I feel guilty. But for that window, he would be enjoying life. I hope I get help before dark. #henderson #falcon #falconry #coopershawk #rescue

👀 local eyes Groups for Young Families

My wife and I recently moved to here for work and want to meet people and get involved in the community. We're both in our mid-20s, and my wife is a stay-at-home mom to our 2.5-year-old and 3-month-old daughters. We specifically live in the north-west of Las Vegas.

We're hoping to connect with other young families in similar situations and would love any recommendations for local groups, events, or communities where we might meet others. Whether it's playgroups, parenting meetups, or other family-friendly activities, we'd really appreciate your suggestions.

Thank you in advance!

🔍 Lost and Found Looking for the owner of a small white dog named Marshmallow (Lee Canyon, Thu 10/15)

Long shot, but this sub has come through before.

I was hiking the Wild Horse Canyon and Ridge Loop in Lee Canyon on Thursday, October 15, around 4:30pm. A small white off-leash dog named Marshmallow nipped my ankle and calf and broke the skin.

I'm not looking to cause trouble for anyone. I just need to confirm she's current on her rabies vaccine and stays healthy for 10 days. If I can't find her, I may need a rabies shot series that can cost thousands.

Description:

- Marshmallow: small white terrier, possibly a poodle mix, wearing a pink vest

- Owner: blonde white woman

- She also had a medium-sized dog that looked like a whippet

If you know Marshmallow or her owner, please DM me. Shares appreciated too. Thanks!

📣 Rant expired California ID in Vegas

Going to Vegas this weekend to celebrate my birthday.

My birthday was just two days ago and i renewed my California ID however it expired on my BDAY.

Does anyone know if whether i can still get into bars and use it at casinos even though it will no longer scan?

I have my expired ID + renewal receipt but the DMV says it takes 2-3 weeks til i receive my physical ID card.

Worst timing ever.

🛫 Visiting soon! How much do I tip the street performers for photos?

I’ll be visiting Vegas for the first time and wanted to ask how much I should tip the costumed characters, showgirls, superheroes, etc., if I want to take photos with them.

I understand they can’t legally demand a specific price, but what would be considered a reasonable and polite tip? I’ve seen videos of some of them quoting rates like “$60 and $60,” which seems way too expensive for some quick photos.

Would $10 - $15 be a reasonable amount, or is that considered too little?

🫣 What The… Tunnels

I was wondering if the unhoused folks that live in the drainage tunnels in Vegas are given any warning of upcoming rain. Seems like it could be a very bad situation if not.
