Hi everyone,
I'm from Portugal and interested in applying to LSE for the LLB Laws as a mature applicant.
In the past I completed two A-levels, but unfortunately due to mental health difficulties at the time I didn’t achieve the entry requirements. I've been out of education for around four years while recovering, but I'm now ready to return to studying.
I've read LSE's mature applicant guidance, which mentions alternative routes such as an Access to HE course, a foundation programme, or 60 ECTS credits at undergraduate level.
I'm considering studying Law with The Open University first, potentially through individual undergraduate modules or the Certificate of Higher Education in Law, to demonstrate my current academic ability before applying.
I'd especially like to hear from people who have actually applied to or been admitted to LSE through this route.
- Has anyone been accepted with poor A-level grades or without the usual A-level qualifications?
- Did you use Open University credits (full first year = 120 credits) or a CertHE?
- If you used the OU, were there specific modules to take, and did LSE accept them as an alternative entry qualification?
- Is there anything you wish you had known before choosing your qualification route?
I'd be very grateful for any experiences or advice, particularly from mature applicants who successfully entered LSE for Law. Thank you!
