Travel Increasing number of 2 wheeler accidents in kerala scare me. Is there even a safe way to travel in 2 wheeelers anymore?

Post image

Every day you see a bike/scooty related death, ranging from going under a truck to simply hitting a pole or something. Most of the common folks rely on 2 wheelers, it's impossible to abandon them. So is there any safe way to even ride them anymore because it seems that whatever you do, it's not safe anymore.

I do not oppose NATCO producing a generic medicine priced at 6 lakh per bottle so that SMA rare disease patients can obtain it for 15,000. The concern about the doctor or clinical sample label is reasonable, yet framing the medicine as something harmful and linking it to Congress electoral bonds felt excessive. Who else accepted election donations from this pharmaceutical company?

Ask Kerala Seeking advice on shifting to palliative care for advanced lung cancer & recommendations for trusted home nurses in Vadakara/Thalassery

Hi everyone, I’m posting here because my family is at a complete crossroads and we desperately need guidance from anyone who has walked this path.

My dad (73) is battling advanced lung cancer being treated at MIMS Kannur. Over the last few months, his condition has taken a severe downward turn. He has lost over 20 kgs, has become extremely weak and fragile, and is now completely bedridden and unable to walk. He relies on adult diapers, and managing his hygiene, bedwetting, and moving him around has become an exhausting daily routine.

My mom is his sole primary caregiver, and she is completely breaking down from physical and emotional exhaustion.

The hospital is suggesting we continue with his immunotherapy, but looking at how frail and suffering he is, we are questioning whether we should stop aggressive treatment and pivot entirely to palliative/comfort care.

I’m hoping to get advice or hear from others on two major fronts:

  1. Palliative Care Transition: When a parent becomes this weak, how do families weigh the choice of stopping aggressive cancer treatments versus focusing entirely on comfort and quality of life?
  2. Home Care Support: My mom desperately needs relief so she doesn't collapse. Does anyone know of trusted, reliable home nursing agencies or patient caretakers serving the Vadakara or Thalassery region who have experience with bedridden elderly patients?

If anyone has recommendations or has been through a similar situation, your insights would mean the world to us right now. Thank you so much for reading.

Ask Kerala Urgent help needed for my 14-year-old Labrador in Kollam

I'm looking for help for my 14-year-old Labrador in Kollam, Kerala.

She recently had an infection, which was treated by a vet, but she is still unable to walk or get up on her own. I'm currently in Bangalore, and my mother, who is elderly, is at home with her and is physically unable to take care of her.

I'm in a very difficult situation because I cannot afford paid boarding, and I want to make sure my dog is safe, comfortable, and cared for.

I'm looking for someone kind and experienced with dogs who might be willing to adopt her and give her the care she needs, or help arrange a suitable foster or rescue option. I understand that caring for a senior dog who cannot walk is a big responsibility, and I don't want her to go to someone who cannot manage her needs.

If anyone in Kollam knows a genuine animal rescuer, an experienced foster, or someone who could help, please reach out to me. Even sharing contacts of local animal welfare groups would mean a lot.

Ask Kerala Automated traffic enforcement at Kottarakkara: Got hit with a ₹3,000 challan under Section 184 (Dangerous Driving)

Post image

Got hit with a ₹3,000 challan under Section 184 ("Dangerous Driving - Jumping Red Light") at the Kottarakkara junction on MC Road.

Yes, I am the white SUV, and yes, I am stopped completely past the zebra crossing. I am not claiming I stopped behind the line. My issue is how dumb automated camera logic treats a safe, late stop the exact same as recklessly speeding through an intersection.

The double white stop line is set way back from the actual junction. When the light flipped to amber, I had already crossed that initial line with traffic trailing in the lane behind me. With a 3-second amber timer, I braked progressively when i saw red and brought the car to a complete halt right before the road curves into active cross-traffic.

I didn't jump the red light or drive through the intersection, I stopped. At worst, stopping past the painted line is a Stop-Line Violation, which carries a ₹250–₹500 fine. Our camera system just takes a static snapshot of the zone after the light turns red and slaps a ₹3,000 Section 184 "Dangerous Driving" charge on a stationary vehicle.

Meanwhile, the only way to point out that the car was stationary is to reject the online payment and spend days attending the local Magistrate Court in Kottarakkara which the system knows no working person is going to do over ₹3,000.

Do the agencies setting up these cameras actually audit signal timings, sightlines, and sensor logic, or is it just set up to maximize Section 184 fines? Anyone else dealt with this at Kottarakkara or elsewhere in Kerala?
