Politics Kamloops election results show north-south divide in council candidate voting

Really interesting to me how much of a split there was between regions of the city. The north shore not electing a single incumbent, while the south shore would have re-elected five.

Politics Eby giving a reason for the ‘unnecessary’ election: does this change anyone’s view?

First post here, I hope a video is allowed. I wanted to post this because I’m curious if anyone has seen this video or knew that this is the reason Eby is giving for the election?

This speech was October 8th and I only saw it on tiktok recently. No one else I’ve talked to has mentioned this and still complain about the way this election has been handled—which is fair. I don’t trust politicians but this sounds like a real problem with bad PR on the NDP’s end to me. Curious what you all think.

I have a taxidermy bird and honestly I waited for awhile for it to sell, but many have told me that it not likely going to sell at all. I honestly just would want anything like a trade, store credit or etc. i just moving soon and want them to end up in a good home with my cat skulls too.

Question Stolen scooter

Context: Autistic.

This summer my electric kick scooter was stolen from my carport while I slept. I have reported it to RCMP & the manufacturer as well as the authorized repair shop in town.

My problem is that I know it is still being used around town due to the built in tracking (Apple/Android). Its last known spot was from last week and was a block up from the Mustard Seed on Victoria and is usually in the trails along the river trail. Those trails between the path & river where you are likely to find tents and other items of similar nature. I am nervous about going out into the wild to find it and being accused of stealing it or something. Like what if I find it at The Mustard Seed? What is the protocol for something like that?

Thank you for your feedback :)

Politics Done with Being Guilted about Strategic Voting. Green Wave Baby!

This election has been the wakeup call I needed to stop strategic voting. I've preached its necessity for the better part of 2 decades now. I voted strategically in the last provincial election too and we got Eby who drove the BCNDP to the middle and set fire to the budget with half measures and compromises that got us nowhere.

Eby fucked up. The NDP hasn't been popular in a while and he forgot that only the Conservatives have a base that will allow them to play such blatant politics (see Doug Ford in Ontario and his snap election for Eby's intention). The cons are gonna win regardless, and even if they dont I'd still rather have a stronger progressive Green voice than Eby's milquetoast centrist bullshit pushing back against them.

At the end of the day, blaming progressives, or anyone for that matter, for voting Green is a half step up from accusing us of dressing slutty. No I voted for the party I feel best represents my values and will do the best job to represent all of BC, which is what every single one of us should be doing.

Im done being held hostage by FPTP and the NDP. I voted Green for Annelise Beach in Kamloops Centre and I encourage anyone who hasn't voted to do the same (unless of course you're in one of the ridings with no green candidate - then I encourage you to vote NDP instead of staying home).

Politics Im extra disappointed in the ndp candidates this time around.

I never expect the conservative candidates provincial or federal to show up for anything. Kamloops is just an easy seat for them and they show they are incredibly aware they dont have to care about their constituents or put any effort in to win, but both NDP candidates calling off for the election forum day of and not answering those questions is completely and fully pathetic. Not to mention how completely absent theyve been in general.

I think if we got real labour candidates who put up a real fight instead of this garbage the conservatives might have to at least pretend to care about this riding and invest some time into it instead of the assumption of victory they show us now.

Politics And now the provincial election...

I don't know about you guys but this election feels like the biggest waste of time and money. It feels utterly hopeless.

To be real, Milobar will likely easily win despite his constant flip flopping and changing parties. IMHO he's an absolute joke with zero morals or values. He jumps between the right wing parties based on where he thinks he'll get lost power and says it's because of deeply held beliefs, which he immediately abandons for the best shot at re-election. He is absolutely willing to sit down with the racists, the proMAGA, the antiLGBTQ+, the denialists and more just to be elected. He claims he can influence the party towards the Center but he hasn't been able to.

The NDP doesn't run a real candidate in opposition and they aren't going to do anything for Kamloops if they take power again anyways so voting for them is an exercise in futility. They won't beat Milobar because no one knows their candidate. And even if we voted in the NDP.and they took government the best we'd have is a silent back bencher who votes with the party, and the NDP doesn't seem to care about anything Beyond Hope.

The Greens have energy and hope and some good ideas. But they are unlikely to ever take a seat here. I would love if all the NDP leaning voters got out and voted Green to send a message to the NDP that they aren't representing people in our community who aren't pro Conservative/OneBC/Former liberal party.....

This election is apparently going to cost 80 Million...

Think of what we could have spent it on instead!!!

- extending the new CYSN model/ autism funding to not cut off "high functioning" disabled kids. Paying for the therapies that will help kids develop the skills to grow up and have happy healthy independent lives.

- investing in recruiting or training more health professionals

- extending the $10/day daycare program to more facilities

- better school funding per student. Or training/recruiting more education assistant professionals to help cope with increasing strain on our school system.

Politics Even if my choice of city council didn’t win, I am happy with all of the city council people that were running

I honestly feel like it was a good run and everyone did an amazing job. It was nice to see the team sport of Nevin and even if I think Greg would have been amazing because I know he has alot of experience in building project. I respect everyone vote.

Honestly like the council more than the mayor, I skip the mayor vote entirely.
