Culture I don’t feel Jamaican enough
I’m Jamaican. my dad’s side is fully Jamaican with a little bit of Chinese in there somewhere. and my mom is a whole bunch of shit(🇧🇧🇬🇾🇯🇲and more) and she was born in England. I grew up around Jamaicans my whole life, i’ve been home 4 times(went to a resort once when i was young but every other time I’m at my cousins house, I love dominos, I can eat more patty in one sitting then my father,i love fry and boil dumplin and festival and when I’m at my aunts houses they’re always cook oxtail rice and peas jerk chicken curry goat curry chicken chicken foot. and they all speak patois. but i can’t speak patois and i struggle to understand someone speaking fast(i struggle to understand ppl in English too sometimes but patois is always and i need complete concentration). and my parents cant make oxtail or rice and peas or curry(my mom can she just doesn’t like the smell) my mom will make aki no salt fish cus my dad doesn’t like fish( I don’t love it either but ill eat mackerel, tuna, salt fish every day). and I didn’t use to listen to soca and reggae but my Trini friend was listening to it in the car once and i always liked it but i realized i can listen to it on my own too so i’ve been collecting songs that i’ve heard before and that my mom likes and that i like to listen to because its honestly my favourite genre. but all that aside being in university I see people including my friend that feel more authentic than me because they know the lyrics to songs i don’t because they went to caribana(carnival) every year and I only went as a kid and recently because thats when my parents let me and also they say i can’t wine but i remember my motha teaching me when i was like 4 she just never let me go out and i forgot. i have my 🇧🇧citizenship and my 🇧🇧passport but i want my jamaican citizenship and passport which i can get because my grandpa is jamaican and i want to have it so i can go back without a visa. but my grandfather is 81 and I don’t want to bother him. and my dad is always busy so he never got his citizenship or passport. but their both getting old I don’t want to wait too long.

Education Jamaica College "Punsi Tree" myth?😭😭😂
As a kid back in prep school I'd hear what could only be described as "horror stories" about how the JC older yutes would pretty much force the incoming 7th graders into some sort of hazing involving a tree which they dubbed "Punsi tree". Does anyone else remember hearing this shit?😭😂 This whole myth used to have me scared to put JC on my list for schools of choice 😂😂😂

Real Estate Realtor Recommendations
My husband and I recently returned from a trip to Montego Bay and had a nightmare of a time trying to connect with a realtor. We are looking to purchase land in a gated community to build on, as well as a 1+ bedroom condo to make our homebase as we go through the construction process. We were finally able to view a property in Spring Farm after pulling some strings, but I have yet to get a response from a realtor from the inquiries we have made regarding the condos and are still on the hunt for land.
I tried reaching out from both my Canadian phone number and our Jamaican number (I am Canadian, my fiance is Jamaican-born and has been living in Canada for the past 20 years). The one realtor I was able to get on the phone told me she was too busy doing something else to talk to me and to message her on WhatsApp instead... And I never heard back from her.
Any tips for getting in touch with someone who is actually interested in a sale? I never thought it would be so difficult since we aren't just window shopping...

Help Shipping Lithium Batteries
I've been trying to ship 2 LiFePO4 batteries for over 2 months, but I'm having a hard time finding any sea-freight carriers that will ship them. Has anyone shipped lithium batteries for their solar setup, if so, any recommendations on companies? I'm located in Texas, but willing to drive them elsewhere if needed for shipping. Thanks

Help Anyone in Jamaica Experiencing Delays with Upwork Withdrawals to Local Bank Accounts?
Hi y’all!
I’m wondering if any other Jamaican freelancers are currently experiencing delays receiving their Upwork withdrawals in their local bank accounts.
I’m a freelancer based in Jamaica, and I’ve been using Upwork for a few months now. Every Tuesday night, my earnings become available for withdrawal, and I usually transfer the funds to my local Scotiabank business account that same night.
Since I started using Upwork, my payments have consistently reflected in my bank account the following Wednesday, usually between 4 PM and 5 PM.
However, this week has been different. I processed my withdrawal on Tuesday night as usual, but it’s now Thursday evening, and the money still hasn’t reflected in my account.
I contacted Upwork’s live chat support, and the agent confirmed that the withdrawal was successfully processed on their end. They also explained that transfers can take up to 8 business days and advised me to contact them again if the funds haven’t arrived by October 23.
I understand that Upwork provides an estimated delivery date and that bank transfers can sometimes take longer than expected. However, this is the first time I’ve experienced such a delay, as my previous withdrawals have always arrived the following day.
I’m curious to know if anyone else in Jamaica is experiencing something similar, particularly those using Scotiabank.
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Just trying to figure out whether this is an isolated issue or something affecting other Jamaican freelancers.
Thanks in advance!

Sports Amateur/Recreational Volleyball - Kingston Area
Hi guys! I've been getting into volleyball through a school program I was in for the past couple years and upon graduating I haven't really been able to play consistently. Are there any places in and around Kingston that you can play volleyball casually in the evenings or on weekends without being apart of an organization? Like a space that welcomes beginners and amateur players to just practice and play recreationally?

Food Green seasoning in mac and cheese?
I'm english and was planning on making some mac and cheese with a twist because I find normal mac and cheese to be quite boring. Was thinking abt making jerk mac and cheese but then remembered I had some green seasoning and was wondering if it would be good mixed into the sauce?
