I'm new to jadeite jade and managed to get my hands on this bangle (and beaded bracelet from the same person).

Loving the grey black colour, with the lighter portions more translucent, giving off a nice glow.

Hello, sorry if this is a dumb question but I’m still very new to jadeite. I saw these items (3 bangles) on Etsy and they were labeled as “glassy.”

I was wondering if this is considered “glass tier?” From my understanding, I can see they’re translucent in the videos (you can see a shadow when a finger is ran behind it) but I thought glass tier was literally see through. I’ve only seen clear glass type of jade. Can glass tier jade have colors? Or maybe is the terms“glassy” different from “glass tier?”

I was scrolling through my feed and noticed something highly suspect in a recent jade testing video. The creator uses a multi-light gem torch, but if you look closely, it looks like a total sleight-of-hand trick.
I've used UV testing myself. It can be a decent at-home tool to rule out certain treatments—especially since specific dyes and polymers fluoresce clearly under UV light. However, it is absolutely not 100% foolproof, and it definitely won't catch every single treatment in 30 seconds.
No shade to the company (though their name is ironic), but why fake it in the video? This is exactly why we have to be extra vigilant in the gemstone market. I'll drop a real example of UV fluorescence in the comments since good visual examples are hard to find online. 👇

1. Texture of this bangle is very good, would be many times more expensive if not for the flaws. Still, I strongly recommend this bangle as it's only less than $800. You won't regret about its translucency. 53mm, link is here.

4. Pale lavender base with dark flowers. This one is only with some lavender tone, but not pale white either. It has one minor crack running along the circumference. Under $500. 57mm, link is here.

2. Second and third are same price, only different in color. Translucency is very good. I have four for each color. The blue one is different from Guatemalan jadeite as it does not turn dark under normal light. Price is about $400.

Posted about this a while back and decided to buy it so you guys don’t have to so what’s the consensus? Is it treated type BC DEFG ? lol it feels cold to the touch and heavy. Is it agate , chalcedoney quartzite, some kind of glass with no bubbles?

My first bangle!! Labeled bicolor blue sugar nephrite 58.5mm. Paid $327usd +tax+tariffs, it was $380 total.

At first I was pretty happy about it but after seeing the white inclusions in bright flash, I'm wondering if I overpaid when I could find something better for the cost?

The first five are mainly selected for their texture and translucency. They all have a relatively fine texture, with decent color as well.
