A Mexican in Italy

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! 🇲🇽🇮🇹

I'm a 25-year-old doctor from Mexico, and this February I'll be spending four weeks in Rome studying Italian with EF!

I've always been passionate about languages, medicine, and discovering different cultures. As a doctor, I believe that learning new languages can open doors to international opportunities, both personally and professionally.

I decided to take this opportunity with EF because I wanted more than traditional language classes. I wanted to experience everyday life in Italy, meet people from different countries, and challenge myself to become more independent.

My journey hasn't officially started yet, but preparing for it has already been such an exciting experience! From organizing my accommodation to imagining what everyday life in Rome will be like, it's made me realize how many opportunities are out there when you're willing to try something new.

Has anyone here studied abroad or taken a language course in Italy? I'd love to hear your experiences! ❤️

hesitant about study abroad

i’ve been debating for 2 months on whether or not i should study abroad in florence for my spring semester. i’m an anxious person so i’ve had a lot of anxiety about this but a part of me wants to push myself and do it. i feel like i change my mindset everyday and i don’t have a clear answer. i’m scared to go without my support system (my family and friends) and it’s not easy for my to put myself out there and make friends. i just want to see if anyone who felt like me went to study abroad and was happy they took the risk. i feel like if i decide to not go ill have relief but also regret.

“Any international students in Naples? Looking to make friends!”

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone! 👋
My name is Priya 26F Im from South India
I’m planning to move to Naples, Italy, for my studies at the University of Naples Federico II, and I’d love to connect with other international students who are already living there or planning to move there in the future.
I’m hoping to make some new friends, get to know people before arriving, share experiences, and build a little network so we don’t have to figure everything out alone! 😊 It would be great to connect with people from different countries, explore the city together, and help each other out with student life.
If you’re studying in Naples, waiting for your visa, or planning to come there soon, feel free to comment or DM me. I’d love to connect! ❤️
Looking forward to meeting you all! 🇮🇹🤝

Going back home is not an option. My parents will force me into marriage. Plan A is to land a job during OPT, but I need a plan B. Which countries should I look into ? I dont mind relocating anywhere as long as it's secular

I hold a Bahraini passport if that helps

Current UCW students and alumni — is UCW worth it for an international student?

Thumbnail

Hi everyone!

I'm from India and planning to pursue my master's in Canada. I'm considering University Canada West (UCW) in Vancouver for its MBA with a Supply Chain Management specialization.

However, after reading Google reviews, I've come across concerns about slow administrative responses, tuition fee increases, student support, and the overall quality of the student experience.

Before making such a significant financial commitment, I'd really appreciate hearing from current students and recent graduates.

I'd particularly like to know:

How is the actual teaching quality and faculty support?

Does the administration respond promptly to emails and resolve student issues?

Have tuition fees increased after enrolment?

Are there genuine internship, co-op, or practical learning opportunities for MBA students?

How helpful is UCW's career support in finding jobs in Canada, especially in procurement, supply chain, logistics, or business administration?

What has your experience been with the study permit application process after receiving an offer from UCW?

Did UCW provide sufficient guidance or documentation support for the study permit application?

Knowing what you know now, would you choose UCW again?

I'm not looking to criticise the university; I genuinely want to make an informed decision based on real student experiences, both positive and negative.

If you're currently studying at UCW or have graduated recently, I'd be very grateful for your honest feedback. Thank you!

Companies and roles that sponsored the most visas in 2026

Put together a visual on the most recent sponsorship data as of Q2 2026, compared to Q2 2025. Data is sourced directly from the Home Office and includes all CoS assigned for both time periods. Data for all companies can be found here: https://ukvisasponsorshipchecker.com. Might be useful if you're an international student currently looking for a sponsored job

International MatSE undergrad in the US with cleanroom/fab experience. Where else should I be looking for internships?

Hey everyone,

I’m an international student doing my undergrad in Materials Science & Engineering in the US, with a minor in semiconductor engineering. I’ve got a decent amount of hands-on cleanroom experience: I do research on transistor fabrication and spent last summer as a process engineering intern at a semiconductor company.

I’ve been applying for summer internships here, but with the current situation for international students it’s been really tough. A lot of postings either require citizenship or just don’t respond once they see needing sponsorship down the line.

So I’m trying to widen the net. Are there other countries or specific companies you’d recommend for someone with my background? I’m thinking places with strong semiconductor, process engineering roles, or materials industries (Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Germany, Netherlands, Singapore, etc.), but I’d love to hear suggestions and know which companies are open to international students.

Thanks in advance!

Exchange student at NSYSU

Hello!

I’ve been nominated by my home university as an exchange student for the spring semester 2027 and I’m currently in the process of being accepted by NSYSU. Can anyone help me with any information about that? Is the process smooth, is it hard to get the acceptance letter and visa? And how is the university and campus? I’m interested in the marketing and management courses, as I’m a first year master student at Advertising.

Thank you in advance!

Late admission to GTU (Civil Eng, waitlisted for Comp Eng) — Should I register and freeze my semester?

Hi everyone,

I recently got accepted into Gebze Technical University (GTU) as an international student. Unfortunately, the admission came through quite late and classes have already begun.

Because of the delay, the university has advised me to officially register now and then freeze my first semester.

To add a bit more context: I’ve been admitted to the Civil Engineering department, but I am currently on the waiting list for Computer Engineering.

As an international student, I’m trying to figure out if I should avail this opportunity. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

A few specific things I'm wondering:

Is it a good idea to register and freeze the semester just to secure my spot at GTU?

If I register for Civil, how does that impact my waitlist status for Computer Engineering?

Will freezing my first semester cause any complications with my student visa or residence permit in Turkey?

Any advice, insights, or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
