need help

Hey guys, I’m Moroccan and currently in my first semester of CS at Al Akhawayn University in Morocco. I got an 18.53/20 on my Bac and a 1340 SAT, and my dream is to study in the US, especially at the University of Miami. The problem is that my family can’t afford US tuition, so I’d need a full ride or something close to it. Since I’ve already started university after high school, am I basically forced to apply as a transfer everywhere, or do some universities still let students in my situation apply as freshmen? I’m worried that transfer students have way fewer scholarship opportunities, especially for international students. Are there universities that actually offer full rides to international transfers, or should I focus on schools where I can get good aid as a freshman if their policies allow it? Some scholarship deadlines are coming up soon, and I don’t want to miss my chances because I misunderstood the process. If anyone has been in a similar situation or knows universities worth looking into, I’d really appreciate the advice.

Looking for sponsorship for student outbound mobility programme

Hi everyone, does anyone know of companies that have sponsored student mobility programmes before, or might be interested in sponsoring ours to Australia? This is my first time seeking sponsorship, so if anyone has experience with this, I'd really appreciate any advice on where to look.

Caribbean Student looking to apply to US universities for Fall 2027

Hi!

I'm a Caribbean student who is looking to apply and start in fall 2027. Our regional exam board is CXC (Caribbean Examinations Council) which is modelled after the British School Curriculum, particularly A levels and GCSE. I'd like to pursue Chemical Engineering

In my CSEC exams (equivalent to GCSE/O Level), I received 8 grade ones, six of which were distinctions (A grade one is the equivalent to an A or a 9. A distinction indicates an all A profile so like A*) At the CSEC level, I did Biology, Additional Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, French, Geography, English, Literature and Mathematics.

I completed CAPE Unit One (Sixth form/ A levels) and obtained 4 grade ones, three of which were distinctions. I did Physics, Chemistry, Pure Mathematics and Communication studies.

I also completed my SAT, receiving a 1380. (it was my first try)

I'm the secretary of my school's Mathletes club, committee member of the Astronomy club where I was a part of the competition team in a National Astronomy quiz. I am also involved in the Science, Drama and Interact clubs.

I've done many Math competitions for the University of Waterloo and National Chemistry Olympiads.

I also was ranked on the regional merit list for proficiency in English.

I am pretty lost on how to apply as through the common app it requires me to put in my CAPE Unit 2 results. However, I will write the CAPE Unit 2 exams in May/June 2027.

How do I continue my application? Specifically in the grades section? I really don't want to be forced to take a gap year.

Additionally, does it seem like I have a shot at getting in to somewhere like Texas A&M or UT Austin? I also want to apply to UF.

GPA in internship applications?

I’m a UCD student from Dublin applying for economics- and finance-related internships in Madrid and Barcelona.

I’ve applied to 95 internships over the past three and a half weeks, but I only realised today that I’ve been entering my Irish GPA of 3.5 (a strong upper-second-class honours result) without accounting for Spain’s 0–10 grading scale, where 3.5 would appear quite poor, despite in Ireland 3.5 being very close to the 4.2 maximum.

The reassuring thing is that the GPA was always entered in a free-text box alongside my university (UCD) and years of study, rather than a dropdown menu. I’d hope recruiters would recognise that UCD uses a different grading system and expect international applicants to enter their GPA according to their own country’s scale.

So far, I’ve received 14 rejections out of 95 applications and progressed to the next stage with one company. But also like, I’ve only ramped up the applications more recently. Like of the 95 jobs, 50 of them were applied to in the last 7 days, so I’m sure I’ll hear back much more soon.

However, nonetheless, I’m now worried that recruiters might have interpreted my 3.5 as 3.5/10 rather than recognising it as a GPA from a different grading system.

Do you think I’m worrying unnecessarily, or could this genuinely have affected my applications?

Has Anyone Done the Huayu BEST Program in Taiwan or Kansai Gaidai Exchange in Japan? Question About Interview Scheduling

Hey everyone! I’m a student at UWF, and I have two study abroad opportunities that I’m hoping to do: The Huayu BEST Spring Program in Taiwan and an exchange semester at Kansai Gaidai in Osaka, Japan.

My goal is to make both opportunities work, but I’ve run into a scheduling problem.

My advisor told me that Kansai Gaidai requires an in-person interview in Miami sometime in June. However, the Huayu BEST program in Taiwan ends at the end of June. If I have to leave Taiwan early to attend the interview, I may have to pay back the cost of the program, which I really want to avoid.

I’m hoping someone who has participated in either program, or gone through the Kansai Gaidai application process, can share some advice!

A few questions I have:

  • Kansai Gaidai: Is the in-person interview mandatory, or is there any flexibility with the date?
  • Interview scheduling: Has anyone been able to schedule their interview for a later date or complete it over Zoom?
  • Huayu BEST: If you’ve done this program, how strict are they about staying until the official end date?
  • Doing both programs: Has anyone successfully participated in two study abroad programs back-to-back or found a way to make something like this work?

I know every situation may be different, but I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences or any advice you have. I don’t want to give up either opportunity if there’s a way to make both happen.

Thanks in advance!

May 2026 Graduate, I am still Waiting for My OPT EAD After Applying in June. Anyone Else in the Same Situation?

Hi everyone,

I graduated in May 2026 and submitted my post-completion OPT application in June. I'm still waiting for a decision and haven't received my EAD.

I'm considering premium processing and would appreciate hearing from anyone who has been in a similar situation, particularly other May 2026 graduates.

For those who upgraded to premium processing, did it help you receive a decision sooner?

Thanks for sharing your experiences!

Guys, I made a mistake on my DS-160, and my visa interview is tomorrow. I would really appreciate your advice.
On the DS-160 form, there are two questions. The first asks whether you have any immediate relatives in the United States, and the second asks whether you have any other relatives there.
I answered “Yes” to the question about having other relatives in the U.S. because I thought my father’s family friend counted as a relative. However, I later realized that a family friend is not a relative.
I don’t have any relatives in the U.S., only this family friend. How can I correct this mistake? Should I explain the mistake to the consular officer during the interview, or is there something else I should do?

OPT unemployment deadline in 9 days. Desperately need advice.

Hi everyone,

Today is October 18, and my 90-day OPT unemployment deadline is October 27.

I have a master's degree in Economics and Management. I've had a couple of promising job interviews and am waiting on potential offers, but I'm worried about the timeline.

I've also been looking into volunteering and unpaid internships to stop the clock, but haven't found any promising opportunities and honestly don't know where to start.

Has anyone been in this situation? Where can I find legitimate volunteer or unpaid opportunities related to my degree on such short notice? Are there any other options I should consider?

I'd really appreciate any advice. Thank you!

If the officer asks me why I chose this university, and I tell him:
“I chose Kent State for its strong Computer Science program and advanced practical learning opportunities. It’s also ranked as a top public university in Northern Ohio for undergraduate Computer Science, which will prepare me well for my future career in Morocco. Additionally, its large international student community will help me adapt to university life.”
Is this a good answer, guys?
