Hello everyone!

I'm one of the new moderators at r/IndianWeddings, and our team would like to share some updates.

First, the subreddit is public again

Over the coming weeks, we'll be working on improving the community by reducing spam, encouraging meaningful discussions, and making sure this remains a helpful space for everyone.

UPDATED COMMUNITY RULES

1. Keep content related to Indian weddings

Posts should be directly related to Indian weddings, wedding planning, ceremonies, traditions, fashion, décor, venues, photography, budgeting, or honeymoon planning.

2. Be respectful

No personal attacks, bullying, harassment, discrimination, hate speech, or insulting other members.

3. No vendor spam or excessive self-promotion

Wedding vendors are welcome to participate, but promotional posts are limited to approved threads or moderator-approved content. Only sharing recent work is allowed in posts; straight-up advertisements will be removed.

4. Use the correct post flair

Please choose the appropriate flair before posting to help others find relevant discussions.

5. Keep it honest, safe, and helpful

No fake reviews, misleading content, privacy violations, NSFW material, buying/selling, or low-effort posts. Respect different cultures, traditions, budgets, and personal choices.

6. Outfit posts

  • Brides and grooms are welcome to share their wedding outfits and photos.

  • Guest outfit posts are allowed only on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

A Few Notes

  • These rules may evolve as the community grows and we see what works best.

  • If you have suggestions for recurring threads, new flairs, or community events, I'd love to hear them.

  • Please report posts or comments that break the rules instead of engaging with them. It helps keep moderation fair and efficient.

We're looking forward to rebuilding this community into a welcoming, informative, and enjoyable place for everyone planning or celebrating an Indian wedding.

Safeguarding jewellery during destination weddings.

• Upvotes

As the title suggests, please share with me hacks on how you take care of real gold and diamond jewellery while traveling for destination weddings. Context: the place we are being put up at, is a decent hotel in a small town. No safe or additional safety in the room.

My best friend is getting married in December and she is really from a really well to do family. Everyone at the wedding is going to be wearing amazing outfits and I dont want to stick out like a sore thumb.

I need suggestions on where to buy good lehengas under 5k. I checked some stores on insta but I couldn't trust them. They show such heavy outfits but theyre prices at under 2k which doesnt seem possible.

I am okay to travel to delhi to shop.

Would you pay for a website that makes Indian wedding planning easier?

I’m thinking of building a website where couples can calculate wedding costs, compare vendors, manage guest lists, track payments and split expenses between families.

Would you pay for something like this? If yes, how much would feel reasonable? If not, what would make it worth paying for?

Seeking Wedding Planning Suggestions . Planning Advice

Hello I (F 27) and my Fiancé (F,28) - are getting married next year between October to December 2027 . We want a 2N, 3D, “intimate” wedding but as they go in Indian households , day 1 and wedding on day 2 will be 200 people . Day 2 dinner will be a reception party so will have some 400 people . As we would like to do this as a residential wedding in Delhi NCR , trying to figure out what’s the best option for us .

Our budget is INR 60,00,000 tentatively .

  1. Looking for hotel suggestions that have large open spaces such as the Roseate NH 8
  2. Looking for wedding /event planner suggestions. So far we have talked to Wed Me Good and Wedding Company.
  3. Any other tips / suggestions

Lehenga Opinion and Suggestion

Is this lehnga for a wedding too minimal and won't look good?

My fiance has decided to have this, but all my friends and family say it's very light for a bride and won't look good. Bridal lehengas should be heavier.

She thinks light and sober looks much Rich and better

Generated the image from AI for reference, it is exactly same .

Looking for a short kurta-farshi salwar outfit for my niece’s engagement ceremony. Moderately heavy. Budget about 50k. Any suggestions/ recommendations? Perferably with pictures. I am tired of looking. At times I ldid like a few pieces … but they were super expensive and with a lot of machine embroidery instead of hand work which really annoyed me..
Any suggestions are welcome.

Why are Delhi/Gurgaon MUAs charging ₹30k EACH for Haldi and Mehendi?!

I've been reaching out to MUAs, and so many are quoting ₹30k per function for Haldi and Mehendi. That's ₹60k for just two events!! 😭

I get paying a premium for wedding day makeup, but this feels excessive, especially when I just want a simple, fresh, glowy look.

**Looking for good MUA recommendations in Delhi/Gurgaon under ₹15k per function**, preferably including hair and makeup.

Please share any recommendations or Instagram handles! Also, is ₹15k an unrealistic budget these two days? 🥲

Outdoor wedding in Chennai in August/September 2027 - good idea or bad idea?

Hi everyone! I live abroad and I am planning my wedding in August/September 2027 in Chennai. I want it to be an outdoor event but I'm concerned about the weather around that season.

How bad is the rain and humidity usually during this time? Would you recommend an outdoor wedding, or is it too risky? Would love to hear from anyone who has attended or planned a wedding in Chennai in August/September.

Thanks! :)

Suggestions for brother’s engagement’s outfit (for sister)

Hello,
My brother’s getting engaged later in November. I’m really confused about what should I wear. I’m not at all interested in lehengas. I’m looking for a light weight dress, not too shimmery as it’s for the engagement. Im not into fashion and latest trends hence I’m having difficulty in selecting the outfit.
I’m from Delhi NCR, but please don’t ask me to go and browse Chandni Chowk unless it’s for a specific shop.
Calling all fashionistas for helping a girl out.
