Worst financial disaster is up ahead. Many institution will loose huge money and even fund houses. Some will surely go bankrupt . Institution made huge blunder in investment . They will pay a very heavy price but it is mostly bank and common people who will pay the ultimate price .

Discussion Friendly reminder prefer buying when things are cheaper

Last time we got good dips were when NDA was short on majority seats, stocks took a nice blood bath, buying at that time eased my pressure of buying for the next 2-3 years, and now buying times are coming back.

So, not financial advice, but analyse the situation and buy things if it makes sense. I personally feel a lot are available at attractive valuations.

Discussion Jio IPO. Be cautious!

Jio IPO is a massive trap and the marketing is pure manufactured FOMO. Here’s the real math.

If you’ve turned on a TV, opened a newspaper, or scrolled through Instagram this week, you’ve been absolutely spammed by Jio’s massive ₹30,213 crore IPO campaign. They are trying desperately to make this feel like a historic, can't-miss event.

But if you actually read the fine print in their Red Herring Prospectus (RHP), it looks less like a tech breakthrough and more like a massive corporate cleanup.

Here is the unfiltered breakdown of what’s happening behind the multi-crore ad budget.

  1. The Retail Flop vs. The Hype
  • The Ads: "Invest in India's digital future!"
  • The Reality: Retail investors aren't buying it. The retail quota is barely scraping past ~2.1x subscription. Compare that to the Tata Technologies IPO, which spent zero rupees on TV ads but got smashed 69x overall purely because people trusted the Tata name and the valuation was fair.
  • Who is actually buying Jio? Huge institutional funds (QIBs) are covering the book, but mostly because they are forced to track index weightage given Jio's massive size.
  1. Where is your ₹30,000 Crore actually going?

This is a 100% Fresh Issue, meaning the money goes straight to the company's bank account. But they aren't using a single rupee of it to build AI, launch new tech, or innovate.

  • ₹27,500 crore (91%) is going straight to banks to pay off old loans.
  • Jio built its 5G network on a horrifying mountain of debt. Their total liabilities are a staggering ₹1.7 lakh crore (which includes over ₹1 lakh crore they owe the government for spectrum).
  • Clearing bank debt saves them ₹2,200 crore a year in interest, which will make their net profit look artificially boosted on paper—but it does absolutely nothing to grow the actual business.
  1. The "Fishy" Repo Rate Timing

Look at the calendar. Just a couple of weeks ago (October 7, 2026), the RBI unexpectedly hiked the repo rate to 5.50% and signaled that interest rates are going to stay high.

  • The Play: Reliance’s corporate economists saw the writing on the wall—bank debt is about to get brutally expensive.
  • The Move: By rushing this IPO out right now, they are dumping their floating-rate bank loans and swapping them for public equity. Equity capital doesn't require monthly interest checks or maturity dates. They effectively dumped their interest-rate risk onto public retail investors right before the macro storm hits.
  1. The Massive Red Flags They Cleanly Omitted From TV
  • Zero Brand Ownership: Jio Platforms does not even own the "Jio" trademark. It belongs to the parent company, Reliance Industries (RIL). If RIL hits a massive corporate scandal, Jio Platforms takes the reputational hit but has zero legal power to protect its own name.
  • Terrible Capital Efficiency: Despite having 533 million users, Jio's Return on Capital Employed (RoCE) is a weak 10.76%. For comparison, Bharti Airtel sits at a highly efficient 19%. Jio is just not efficient at turning capital into high-margin profits.
  • The Looming VC Dump: Foreign VC giants (KKR, Silver Lake, Meta) who invested back in 2020 are currently locked into this IPO because it’s a Fresh Issue, not an Offer for Sale. The absolute second their post-IPO lock-in expires, expect massive institutional dumping on the open market, which will tank the stock price.
  • The Litigation Shadow: Hidden deep in the legal disclosures are ₹44,187 crore in outstanding lawsuits against the promoter group.

TL;DR: The ads want you to think you're buying into India's next-gen tech frontier. In reality, you're just paying off Ambani's bank loans right before interest rates spike, buying into a company with low capital efficiency, zero brand ownership, and massive promoter baggage.

The current Grey Market Premium (GMP) is sitting at a weak ~21% (around ₹245). This isn't going to be a multi-bagger listing. Proceed with massive caution.

My portfolio is more than 35% down. I had invested most of my salary when I started my career on MF and stocks and all are f*cked. My father had warned not to invest in stock market and I should have listened to him😔.
He will definitely kick me out of house of he sees my portfolio.
How are you guys coping up with the losses?

Discussion Total bids for Jio IPO including anchor: ₹3.20 lakh crore. Issue size is ₹30,213 crore. Do the math.

Including anchor round bids, total demand for the Jio IPO has crossed ₹3.20 lakh crore against an issue size of ₹30,213 crore.

That implies roughly 10.6x total demand against total supply. And Day 3 retail surge has not been counted yet since the IPO closes today at 5 PM.

What generated ₹3.20 lakh crore of demand:

₹8,110 crore from anchor investors alone on 19 October. BlackRock, Fidelity, Capital Group, Allianz, ADIA, GIC Singapore, Qatar Investment Authority all committed before the public even got a chance.

Then QIB went to 12.44x on top of that anchor allocation. These are separate pools. QIBs were competing for their public tranche while the anchor allocation was already done.

NII (HNIs) at over 5x on Day 2 adds the large-ticket domestic money.

Retail at 1.53x heading into last day still has a significant surge coming.

At current GMP of ₹243-247, the grey market is implying a listing around ₹1,362-1,366. Estimated gain per lot: approximately ₹2,928-2,964.

The business case behind this demand: 533 million customers, ₹30,049 crore profit FY26, ₹32,501 crore free cash flow, 52% EBITDA margins, debt dropping 40% from IPO proceeds. Fresh issue only, zero OFS. Every rupee goes to the company.

Listing 28 October. Allotment 26 October.

Discussion Want to earn extra income in my free time. Interested in trading, but don't know where to start. Need genuine advice!

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm working full-time salary 20k and want to use my free time to build an additional income source.

I'm interested in stock market trading, especially Indian markets and options trading. I have some basic knowledge and I'm willing to invest a small amount of capital that I can afford to lose, but I don't want to jump in blindly.

I'm looking for guidance from people who have real experience.

A few things I'd love advice on:

- How should a beginner start learning trading?

- Is options buying suitable for someone with small capital?

- What are the best ways to practise before risking real money?

- Are there any genuine side-income opportunities I can do alongside my job?

- If you were starting from zero today, what would you do differently?

I'm ready to put in the time, learn properly, and manage risk instead of chasing quick profits.

I'd appreciate honest advice, useful resources, and lessons from your own experience. Please share what actually worked for you!

Thanks! 🙌

Discussion Market Is Testing Everyone’s Patience — If You Had ₹1 Lakh, Which Stock Would You Buy Right Now?

I think most of us are frustrated with the current market situation. 😅

But instead of just worrying about the correction, let’s discuss opportunities.

**Suppose you have ₹1,00,000 to invest in the Indian stock market today. Which ONE or TWO stock would you buy at current levels?**

Profit ↗↗ Profit booked early😭😭😭😭

Took trade around 12 midnight and went to sleep. Woke up at around 5.50am, exited the trade when it was near my target. Again went to sleep. Woke up at 11 (As I am not sitting on my system these days to avoid forced trade in stocks) and saw this.😭😭😭😭

Though I do swing trades in stocks only. But since I am completely out of stocks these days, tried my hand on intraday and made good profits.

Have you also observed it when you trade after long time, you make good profits?

Loss↘↘ Down 41% on my equity portfolio after 2+ years of holding. What should I do to recover? (Portfolio review)

Hi everyone,

I’ve been holding these stocks for more than 2 years, and there has been no real growth. I’m currently down about 41%. Looking for honest advice on what to do next.

Portfolio snapshot (8 holdings):

  • Total invested: ₹3.85L
  • Current value: ₹2.27L
  • Total P&L: -₹1.58L (-41.15%)
Stock Avg cost LTP Return
HCLTECH 1,438.90 1,447.40 +0.59%
TMCV 305.17 399.65 +30.96%
NHPC 108.80 71.40 -34.37%
PAYTM 2,150.00 1,628.20 -24.27%
NATCOPHARM 1,575.58 782.15 -50.36%
IOB 67.80 29.43 -56.59%
TMPV 674.52 265.30 -60.67%
IRFC 211.07 75.08 -64.43%

Only 2 out of 8 are in profit. The biggest losses are in IRFC, TMPV, IOB and NATCOPHARM.

My questions:

  1. Should I hold, average down, or exit the worst performers (IRFC, TMPV, IOB)?
  2. Does it make sense to book losses and shift the money into index funds or flexi-cap funds, or is that just panic selling?
  3. Is tax-loss harvesting worth it here, to offset gains elsewhere?
  4. If you were in my position, how would you restructure this portfolio?

I know I probably over-concentrated in PSU and hyped stocks, and I’m open to hearing what I did wrong. Please be honest, I can take it. Thanks in advance!

I have been investing in stocks since 4 years. I have been adding more stocks in the dip. Now the situation is only Eternal(Zomato) has been keeping my portfolio green, but today other stocks gave up which turned my portfolio red today 😂. Pretty confused whether I should deploy more money or sit idle and wait for recovery?

Your personal experience and suggestions would help a lot. Thanks!

Discussion 19 Portfolio suggestion

I'm 19 and in my 2nd year of CS

I can invest ₹2k/month and I'm thinking of putting the whole amount into Bandhan Small Cap till I graduate in 2029 or get a job

My thinking is I'm young so I can take more risk rn. Once I start earning I'll switch to a more balanced portfolio until then aggressive

I don't have any specific goal rn. Just wanna build a habit of investing regularly

I also came across some international ETFs on Groww like Nasdaq 100, S&P 500 Top 50 and FANG+

Are international ETFs worth considering with just ₹2k/month Or everything in Bandhan Small Cap
