Even after all the growth DHH has seen, it's still a relatively small industry. Only a handful of artists have truly earned the star status. Over the years, we've seen several prominent artists fall out with each other. Some of these conflicts have nearly reached a point of no return.
And thinking about this as a DHH fan and not a fanboy, I feel that we've missed out on some potentially kickass, and potentially industry-defining music.
The most obvious example for me is Emi and Raa. Two of the most versatile and passionate dhh artists! I still remember the hype that just the announcement of Sadak- Raamix generated.
I might get hate for this, but I genuinely believe these two working together could have done more for DHH than their feud did. Emiway also had fallouts with Stan and Divine, with tensions extending into parts of their wider circles. This created a web of proxy rivalries—some people became Emiway's rivals by association, while others see him as their rival by association.
Emiway- one of the biggest stars of dhh - hasn't worked with Sez, Karan Kanchan, Stunnah or Phenom - the Fab 4 producers of dhh!! IMO their work has shaped so much of the scene. That's a huge creative opportunity missed. Just imagine an Emiway x Fotty Seven track absolute - Slang Fest, or Emiway x Badshah making an absolute vibe fest!
Then there is Karan And Sidhu - inarguably two of the biggest of dhh!! Imagine what they could have cooked up together. Two huge artists with unique style and musiciality. The possibilities were simply insane. And now we will never know !! RIP SMW bhai 🙏
And obviously YYHS and Badshah- the two biggest hitmakers and pioneers of the scene. We've already seen the magic they created when they worked together ( please don't get into who wrote what and credits for this particular post). Imagine what they could have made as they matured and developed further as artists. Given how bitter their fallout is, we can only fantasize now.
look at Ikka and Raa. They had disagreements for quite some time, but after burying the hatchet, we got tracks Angaar and Me and My Broski. Both are such high-quality tracks, and a great reminder of what can happen when artists put their differences aside.
I'm not saying artists owe us collaborations, or anyone is wrong or right in their fall-outs. But as fans of dhh, when relationships between artists break down, we might lose more than they do: we lose the music they could have made together.
TL;DR: DHH is still a growing industry, yet we've seen too many fallouts between our biggest artists. As fans, we've potentially lost out on some incredible, maybe even industry-defining music because of them.
What are some collabs you’d love to hear but think are nearly impossible now?
