question Curious on what people ate centuries ago ?

Many of the ingredients we use today came from outside the country, Things like potatoes, tomatoes, green chillies and even red chillies. A lot of our recipes include these things today.

I’m curious what Indian food was years ago, Anyone have any idea on this topic ? Any videos, websites or literature would also be great

What's on Indian food you loved as a kid but rarely eat anymore?

Lately, I've been thinking about how some foods bring back childhood memories. What Indian dish would instantly take you back to your childhood, and do you still eat it today?

What is a sabzi/sabji?

From context and looking at recipes it’s a dry veg dish (well, maybe it can have meat too but I’m not looking at meat dishes), but Google seems to indicate that sabjis can be wet too, so what exactly is a sabji? munching on palak ki sabji while awaiting an answer

question Kasundi

Hey guys!

I finally got Kasundi. I tried it for the first time and I love it. It's so strong and flavourful. At the moment I have been using it as a dipping sauce and achar.

But I'm curious how do you guys eat it? Any go to recipes?

TIA.

discussion Why jalebi fafda on Dussehra??

• Upvotes

how and why it became a tradition of eating fafda jalebi and similar things on Dussehra in gujarati households???

I read a post a few weeks ago that gujarati households eat food made out from besan a lot rather than striking on nonveg food. But curious to know about fafda jalebi and Dussehra connection

One possible thing is to break navratri fast, but not sure!

question What simple sweet dishes to make for festivals as a beginner?

I live abroad and don't really know much about Indian festival and celebrations but I want to understand and just feel the joy and enjoy the celebrations. I know many people will make sweet to serve God and stuff but I really want to understand what simple beginner sweet dishes or treats to make.
