My Instagram feed was filled up with Sajan Sajan edits on Batman movies. So I thought I’d create a similar edit but from comics panel. And honestly, vibes to hai is crossover me.

Growing up I used to have a huge collection of Indian comics like ACK, Indrajal, Tinkle, Commando(war comics), Archies etc.

As these things happen, I didn't care for them after moving out of my home town for college and then work. Later when I found them in a bad shape due to incorrect storage, I thought of rebuilding my collection and to save the ones I had.

So whenever I got an opportunity I would scour bookshops on Church street in Bangalore or the Mumbai books market near Churchgate station. And have found some really old vintage editions from the 80's which I didn't have in my old collection too.

Lately either there are no vintage editions left or they are in a very bad shape.

If anyone of you have any pointers to old bookshops in Pune which might still have a good collection it would be great.

I know most of you are into Marvel and DC comics and might not find these comics interesting, but in case you have come across them please do let me know.

PS: The picture is just a sample of my collection, have over 150 comic books as of now :)

Well, I did it again. Two more books ordered, despite already having a rather intimidating reading backlog!

This time:

• Batman by Grant Morrison Omnibus Vol. 3 — ₹3,700
• Footnotes in Gaza by Joe Sacco — ₹850

I thought ₹3,700 was a pretty decent price for the Batman omnibus, and ₹850 for a 430-page graphic novel like Footnotes in Gaza seemed like an excellent deal.

But here's the thing: I seem to have developed a habit of convincing myself that every reasonably priced book is an opportunity I simply cannot afford to miss. 😂

I recently received Grant Morrison's Batman Omnibus Vol. 1, and rather than making some serious progress through my existing collection, I've already gone ahead and ordered Vol. 3!

So, fellow collectors, I have a few questions:

• Are these genuinely good prices, particularly for the Batman omnibus?
• Has anyone read Footnotes in Gaza? What did you think of it?
• And most importantly, how do you resist buying more comics and graphic novels when your unread collection is already growing faster than you can read?

At this point, I'm beginning to suspect that collecting graphic novels and actually reading them are two entirely separate hobbies! 😄

After years of reading on the tablet, I finally decided to buy this one. Was a fan of Alan Moore from Watchmen. And I wanted to buy a single story graphic novel.

Notes on the collection:

The Mad UK collection is pretty good shape. Really good readers copies. Clean bright covers

The Mad US collection has some great issues, but they're mostly pretty beat up.

The Specials have around 60 percent of the issues in a pretty good reader copy condition.

Price: 22000 for the lot (inclusive of Shipping/free shipping).

Open to selling Individual lots and then individuals if there is interest.

Open to trading for manga or independent comics.

Is it legit or not ?

So I've been wondering lately- there's hundreds of auctions that are conducted by international auction houses for comic books. Why not India? Yes, supply is a bit of an issue.

But at the same time, it seems like a good idea if sourcing is correct. Graded Comics, Raw or even full sets for DC, Marvel, Age of Conan stuff like that is not so hard to procure from abroad.

I ask because I've already worked extensively on this and want to understand what the response would be like. Nothing over the top expensive, keep things cheap and affordable. Collector comics aren't necessarily all mega-expensive and it seems doable to me. Thoughts?

There are comics and there are graphic novels. And then there is hard-hitting journalism masquerading as graphic novels. 

Joe Sacco's work is the latter. 

I thought I had a pretty good understanding of the Israel-Palestine conflict and Bosnian war; major events, key players, ideological conflict etc. But Sacco puts you right in the middle of the conflict zone. And instead of focusing on politicians or generals, Sacco writes about day-to-day lives of ordinary people. He talks about their resilience, struggle to live an ordinary life, their meager dreams and sliver of hope for a better future. You realise that an event that would destroy your whole life is a regular occurrence for so many people. Sacco not only manages to create empathy for his subjects but also changes your perspective about your own life. 

Highly recommended! 

So now that my series is in full swing, I am looking for publishers that are reliable. For now, I am contemplating between digital and print release, but I have also received an offer for print for five issues, though it is a limited release. If you know of any reliable publisher that has an interest in the superhero genre and is also adult-rated, that would be much appreciated.

Update 1: I have ordered the same set of comics from Comic book store and Croco that I ordered from Epic King. And I've requested them to send the parcel as soon as they can.

Also note the PEFC/FSC certification missing on the publisher page. I don't have a single dc comics without that. Marvel don't put it but DC has it.

The amount of comics they have released is mind boggling and they have flooded the whole indian market scene with ai slop. Beware of that and don't put fuel in their engine
