Hi all! Im an American-Israeli IDF vet. My daughter also holds dual citizenship, she is in 10th grade. She is interested in going to university in Israel, in particular med school. She is aware of how competitive it is. We have so many questions around her service-

What is the diff is she goes to the army first and studies after vs the other way around?

She is interested in a medical role but does not want to be combat infantry (my wife would kill her lol). Does this mean she is a medic on a base taking care of sore throats? Are there other options?

How does she prepare for the exams that determine her placement in the IDF?

Is a medical role in the IDF helpful when applying to Israeli medical programs?

Trying this post again in English. I am 28 years old, female, and married and want to do Shlav Bet. It’s a program for older Olim, who did not do the army to go right into Miluim.

In order for women to get in, they need a מייל נחיצות, which is basically an internal email in the army recommending you for the program. Ideally, it is a unit that is related to your background (mine is in data, psychology, criminology, and survey psychology, and I currently work as an analyst for a startup). But it also can be someone without a connection to your education or profession.

If you know anyone who did Miluim, did the army, wants to help an Olah, and particularly id the position is relevant, please message me. This is a dream of mine. I’ve been working really hard to make it happen (networking and working on my Hebrew) but without connections in Israel, it won’t be possible.

Hey I requested to change units 4 months ago my katzin etc did a really nice long letter regarding me and such and now all of a sudden it didn’t even reach the end of the last stage and it now says “cancelled” anyone know why after 4 months it just randomly gets cancelled? And what I can do now from here? I’m currently in a unit that doesn’t allow me to progress cause of my Hebrew level so that’s the reason I want to leave and I’m not giving up cause I don’t wanna waste my service on doing nothing…

I don’t have anyone to talk about this with - so I’m coming on here. I want to enlist as a lone soldier next year after I graduate highschool.

My community/ school is heavily anti-israel. I have struggled a lot with my classmates and even teacher because of their extreme opinions. Around this time my friends are starting to apply to university, and to be honest, I don’t know what to do.

First of all. I’m Ashkenazi Jewish. I overthink everything.

But I know I want to serve. I have known for a while now, what role/job exactly is still unsure to me, but I have time to figure that out.

The issue is that I don’t think I will ever be able to return home. My parents think I shouldn’t even put that I served in the army on any CV/ LinkedIn type thing, so employers don’t see it.

I know - why would I want to return to that if that’s their ideology? None of us want to live with antisemites, of course, but if I later want to study somewhere outside of Israel, maybe work outside of Israel, I guess I have to accept what comes with it.

Therefore im curious: if there are any lone soldiers who left their country and lost lots of connections, and lost their opportunity to a very different future (not saying I would prefer something different, but I do think about the “what ifs”), please let me know.

I don’t know anybody who can really understand how im feeling right now.

אני משתמט כבר בערך חצי שנה. לא התגייסתי בגלל סיבות אישיות, וכרגע אני מנסה לקבל פטור משירות צבאי, אבל בינתיים לא מוכנים לאשר לי פטור, למרות שלדעתי הסיבות שלי כן מצדיקות זאת.
יש לי כרגע צו עיכוב יציאה מהארץ בגלל ההשתמטות.
רציתי לדעת האם למרות צו עיכוב היציאה אני יכול לטוס עם דרכון זר. יש לי דרכון צרפתי, ולכן השאלה היא האם בנתב״ג עדיין יזהו אותי כאזרח ישראלי ויעצרו אותי, גם אם אציג את הדרכון הצרפתי, או שהדרכון הזר משנה משהו מבחינת הבדיקות ביציאה מהארץ.

So i know this is kind of random, but does anyone know the exact fitness requirements of three specific corps: Isuf kravi, Shyrion and hagana avirit. I want to know the exact number of reps or time of the different components of the kashag in each of these, the components are i believe 3km run, weighted pull ups, dips and sprints. If anyone knows or was in any of these units, please let me know. It has to be about the modern updated kashag though, thank you

Hi, I’m looking to volunteer through Mahal as Bnei Mnagarim for the August draft. I have a parent that was born in Israel, but I was born in the US and wasn’t registered at birth. I’m trying to get my Israeli passport on time so I’m able to get all of my documents in by February, but am having no luck. Does anyone have any advice or know if there’s a fast track available??

This is my first time posting here and my first time looking into this topic, so please forgive me if my questions are a bit broad or obvious.

I’m looking for some guidance on where to start for a pre-teen who has expressed a strong interest in eventually joining the Israeli Navy (Heil HaYam). What proactive steps or preparation can he take during his teenage years to set himself up for drafting or applying?

We are not israeli, but doing Aliah, or for him to finish school there are all open options;

Also, I'm curious about how the IDF assignment process works. Do recruits get to choose their specific branch, or are placements assigned entirely based on tests and abilities?
