Site Supervisor - Residential Custom Build Position

Post title: Site Supervisor – Residential Construction – Huntsville, AL

Post body:

Residential custom builder in Huntsville, AL - we're looking for a skilled/motivated Site Supervisor to join the team and lead our projects

Who we are: We're process-driven and big on building science, so we care about how a house handles heat, air, and moisture, not only how it looks at the walkthrough. We also believe every project builds community, not just a structure. Learning is part of our culture: we try to get a little better on every job, and we want people who feel the same.

What you'd do:

  • Run the site day to day: schedule, materials, crew, and subs
  • Keep work to plan, spec, and code, and keep the site safe and clean
  • Handle QC, inspections, punch lists, and close-out
  • Keep solid daily logs and keep the PM and clients in the loop
  • Ability to safely and properly use tools

What we're looking for:

  • Real experience running residential sites and leading crews or subs (ideal but open to other related experience)
  • You read drawings well and know the build sequence and inspection process
  • You're organized, communicate well, and treat people right
  • Building science, ICF, or high-performance building experience is a big plus, but we'll teach our process to the right person

What we offer: Pay depends on experience, PTO and holiday pay, a phone stipend, mileage reimbursement, and paid continuing education. A Health Reimbursement Account and retirement contribution are planned as we grow.

Don't check every box? Reach out anyway. We care most about how you lead and how you learn.

To apply: Happy to answer questions in the comments or by DM - please understand I am a real person so responses may not be immediate...heck it might take a day to respond. If interested please DM for next steps.

Weekend Jobs

Hello, I am currently a student at UAH only taking a few classes a semester. I am looking for a full time weekend manufacturing job, preferably at one of the defense contractors. I have a job but I can only work at that job during the week so I only take classes on Monday and Wednesday. Any advice on this I have been applying to multiple place for almost a year. Is anyone in this same situation?

Day job recommendations in Madison, AL

Hello, I’m 23F. I’m here to ask where I can find a second job, preferably day/morning shifts before I start my job on night shifts, which is usually around 3PM-5PM depending on the days I work a week.

It’s been getting more tough with trying to juggle between saving my money as well as paying off my share of rent and bills with my paycheck, and I was wondering if there are any food related jobs around the Madison area. Any suggestions or recommendations help a lot.

Is anyone actually hiring?

I’m planning to relocate to the area soon, but finding a job has been more difficult than I expected. I’ve been applying to different positions but haven’t had much luck so far. Does anyone know of any companies that are currently hiring or have any recommendations on where to look? Any advice or leads would be greatly appreciated!

Engineering Graduating next semester, where should I apply?

I am on track to graduate in the spring with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UAH. I have already started applying to entry level jobs and internships for the summer.

I have noticed lots of the job postings are with larger companies, and because of this, there are usually 100+ people who have already applied.

Is it still worth applying to these places, even though I don’t have a stellar resume ( 3.0 gpa, 1 previous internship, and a few projects + senior design)? And where can I find smaller companies with openings that are in the Huntsville/Madison area?

One more thing, is the Huntsville engineering job market over saturated with new graduates? If this is the case, am I better off finding work elsewhere in the US?

Feeling hopeless looking for work

I’ve been out of work for almost 6 months. I’ve been doing DoorDash to barely get by. I’ve applied with no less than 20 jobs and been to quite a few career fairs and never hear back. Employers will still have the position open for well after I reply. I have customer service and merchandising experience. I have a disability in my right hand that makes fine motor skills difficult so factory work is probably not an option. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Looking for Facilities/Maintenance Jobs

Hello all,

My wife and I are currently looking into moving to Huntsville. The only problem is, she would have a job lined up and I wouldn’t. So I thought it wouldn’t hurt anything to shoot my shot here.

I’ve been applying to multiple jobs, including government jobs, but haven’t heard anything back yet. As far as these types of jobs go, nowhere seems to pay anywhere close to what I’m making at the moment and that simply would not work. Of course more would be better, but I’d be happy to make what I currently make now.

I’m currently a Building Technician/Facilities Manager for three commercial properties at the moment.

I’ve got the following experience:

- 12 years of commercial maintenance altogether
- Residential maintenance
- Monitoring BAS systems
- Maintenance and Repair of Commercial Plumbing
- Experience in working with fire systems
- Maintenance and repair of HVAC systems such as residential split systems, cooling towers and water source heat pumps
- Electrical
- Property managing (due to me working alone at my current job, I need to play the role of property manager often, as everyone else is based out of a different city)
- Facility managing or work order apps
- Supervisor experience
- Supervising buildouts/renovations
- Staying on top of quarterly, semi annual, and annual inspections from either myself or scheduling contractors
- Log keeping for maintenance requests, inspections, contractor work, etc.

Accomplishments:
- Oversaw a 6 month renovation from start to finish for two hotels
- Solved a major cooling/water loop issue at one of the high rise buildings I work

Interests:
- Project managing for Commercial, Government, or Defense Properties
- Property managing for Commercial, Government, or Defense Properties
- Facility managing for Commercial, Government, or Defense Properties
- Maintenance for Commercial, Government, or Defense Properties
- Project managing for Construction has also been an interest of mine, but I know I’d need to learn more.

I’m more than willing to learn new skills, get more certifications if needed. I just like to learn.

Entry Level Any places that aren't impossible to get into for commercial/industrial maintenance and/or electrical?

I have been a maintenance Technician for almost three years now doing residential, with some experience in manufacturing. I've got most basics now and I'm trying to break into either something in electrical, or a step up into industrial or commercial. This residential stuff is honestly getting boring where I'm at, and I just want to develop my skills more and thus make more money.

Need advice: Furniture pick-up.

New to Huntsville, still trying to get my apartment together on the cheap. I’m finding Facebook marketplace and things like that pretty convenient and in my budget. The problem is I of course can’t fit large pieces like TV consoles in my little Hyundai. Does anybody know of a service or “Man with a van” that is reliable and safe that I could pay to pick up pieces that are too big for me to go get? Please advise. 🙂
