Last week I tried logging into Harvard Key using my password + TOTP code and it seems that Harvard has completely disabled password-based logins. I called IT and they told me that I have to use Okta. As I use Linux, this is not an option for me.
I spent some time looking into various ways to authenticate and it seems that the only way to avoid using Okta is to use WebAuthn/passkeys. This is also a PITA on Linux, but it's better than nothing.
Have other Linux users found a way around this problem?
EDIT: Passkeys are a trap and related HN discussion.

THE QUADYSSEY — a triple-decker side quest where one reads the Odyssey, takes the Harvard Quad-SEC shuttle, and remains on the shuttle for 2 hours and 52 minutes, the duration of Christopher Nolan’s 2026 film “The Odyssey.”

Hi! I originally bought tickets for a a friend and I, but we ended up wanting to join some other friends that bought in another section... The tickets are for Sec G20 Row 18 Seat 6-7 and I'll be selling them face value ($169 each but willing to negotiate a bit). Please DM me if you're interested and I can also send proof if that's a concern!
(Also please let me know if this is against the subreddit rules and I'll take it down, I just didn't know where else to post this lol)

I don‘t have health insurance through Harvard. Are there counseling groups or therapy sessions that I can attend? Gambling problem. Lifetime up 600k on blackjack (pay taxes and everything) but down low six figs this year, and it takes time away from school.
I spent all Saturday at Encore and lost around 20k. Around 45k total down this week. This isn’t enjoyable and not how I envisioned grad school. Went to campus events today and made friends, which was of my main goals as a student. Wondering if there are on campus resources. Thanks.

every (open sourced btw) lecture, some interesting insight or famous problem on probability/counting, completely self contained book and course outside of a single variable calculus pre req., so intuitive and really focuses on developing understanding (story proofs etc.). what a legend, someone buy him a big box of chocolates plz.

Does anyone know why the football game in November is set for Fenway? No play clocks, obstructed sight lines and the views of the backfield are hard with the strange angles of the stands. Obviously no tailgating. Where do all the Yale people even park or do they all just take the green line?

Hi. I am planning on applying to MDE and wanted to get info on how much financial aid can an international student get at Harvard GSD.
Selling two HY football tickets at face value ($169 each) in RF Box 1 at Fenway Park, as my partner and I can no longer make it. DM if interested!

Hey guys I saw that there are no overnight sleeping accommodations on campus this year at HackHarvard, so where are kids going to sleep?
There’s no way every college kid can afford Boston hotel prices
Thanks

Four seconds glowed on the clock Saturday, Harvard hovering at the edge of field goal range. Andrew Aurich could picture the night disappearing on one bad beat — his young quarterback holding the ball a breath too long, a receiver caught upright instead of hitting the turf, final seconds bleeding away before the kicking unit could cross the sideline.
Then a flag fluttered onto the field, a false start dragging Harvard 5 yards backward and wiping away Aurich’s careful arithmetic with the Crimson down 3.
Aurich pleaded that Colgate had drawn the movement, but the officials waved him off, and with a score-tying kick attempt now beyond his freshman’s comfort zone, the specialists retreated as the offense rushed back on.
“Now,” quarterback Charlie Smith remembered thinking, “we get a chance to win instead of tie it.”
What followed looked like pure improvisation: a quarterback flushed sideways, a pass sagging short, a tight end swallowed up, and a lateral tossed loose. But Harvard had spent months preparing for such disorder.
In seconds, that chaos had shape: a 20-17 Harvard win that kept the No. 20 Crimson unbeaten at 3-0 and toppled a No. 22 Colgate team fresh off a road upset at Villanova, armed with one of the stingiest defenses in the FCS. In what was arguably the most breathless finish in recent memory at Harvard Stadium, the 25,883-seat landmark had not hosted two ranked teams since 2015 nor a ranked nonconference game since 2005.
Every week, Harvard rehearses 10 to 15 last-gasp situations, the play changing with the yard line, but one command echoing through them all: “Line, line, line, line.” Until the ball crossed the goal line, nobody was allowed to let it die in his hands.
“We always talk about training behavior becoming instinctual,” said Aurich, who took over at Harvard in February 2024.

Just got the mass messages via email and text. Anyone have info on what's happening over there?

For people who are new here, I would stay calm and not panic too much. On previous occassions it has just been a student who really doesn't want to take an exam :
