👋 Welcome to r/HangtimeGames - Introduce Yourself and Read First!
Hi, I'm Pete aka u/HangtimeGames, founding moderator of r/HangtimeGames and one of the people behind Hangtime Games. We are a tiny family run startup.
Quick backstory: my family kept playing the same few games every holiday (wife's family is Indian and we specifically do a lot - a LOTT - of family game nights close to Diwali). We used to do a lot of physical board games and card games but more recently have been playing a lot more video games and tv streaming games... but found them to (1) be pricier than felt fair and more importantly (2) felt wildly complicated to setup for a simple game night... So we built our own.
You open hangtime.games on any TV or laptop, everyone joins on their phone with a 4-letter code, and you're playing immediately.
No app needed, and players never need an account (hosts need one if they're using launch pack games, but there are free games available that will always be free).
Right now there are seven games:
Doodler (like Pictionary, and very kid friendly, tested with our own kids), Hang Five (kind of like Wordle but multiplayer), and Trivia Board (like Jeopardy) are free.
Who's Lying?, Best Answer Wins, Bowl Game, and Rummy are in the Launch Pack.
WHAT TO POST HERE:
We would love for any of these things to happen in this sub:
- Your stories from your game night
- Bugs and things that felt off (seriously, tell us, we will do everything in our power to fix stuff fast)
- Ideas for new games or categories
If you want to try the Launch Pack free, comment and I'll send you a code.
Thanks for being here early!
– Pete
PS - Interested in helping out? We're always looking for new moderators, so feel free to reach out to me to apply, and if you're interested in being a part of the Hangtime team, please DM me. We aren't hiring but the dream is one day down the line we might be.
