[MOD POST / ANNOUNCEMENT] Reminder that this sub is SFW
Lately we’ve been getting a lot of creeps sneaking their way into the sub by “interacting” in the community by leaving “nice and innocent” comments. We take measures very seriously by checking their profiles to see if they engage in NSFW subreddits. And this is a Final Warning and message that this Subreddit will and always be a SFW space for gals to participate in. If we catch any NSFW profiles leaving “innocent” or even gross comments under our members posts (especially if they are a MINOR), you will be PERMANENTLY banned on the spot with no warning and no appeal. This is a SFW sub and not a place for you to goon or get off to the gals that shows off their outfits. If that’s your purpose for being here then you can go to a subreddit that’s more suitable for that as there are plenty. Our members don’t post to please and make you comfortable for your sexual pleasure. We absolutely DO NOT tolerate ANY Fetishizers here as we take rule 1 in our subreddit VERY Seriously. Leave us a lone and go be a jerk and jerk off elsewhere, thanks.

TIPS:
- AVOID PINTEREST AND TIKTOK. Okay, this is a generalisation because there are plenty good tutorials out there, but hear me out first: pinterest and tiktok are infamous for mislabelling things, like... A LOT, so if you don't have a strong grasp on what makes something gyaru its very easy to get confused and end up following a dolly or douyin makeup tutorial instead, so i'd say avoid them until you're confident enough in your ability to know the difference.
Here are general rules of thumb for tiktok: Tutorials by people trying out gyaru for the first time ❌ Tutorials by other begginer gals ❌ Tutorials/inspo by accounts that mix up gyaru with bimbo, cutecore, y2k, etc. If you see a billion hashtags with different styles... run. Gyaru is its own thing. ❌ Tutorials by experienced gals ✅ Tutorials by very known/popular gyaru accounts (this one is 50/50 tbh) ✅ Tutorials/inspo that features scans or models from gyaru magazines ✅
Magazines are your bible. Gyaru magazines have always been the equivalent of bibles for gyaru because they are full of inspo and have great hair and make tutorials. You can either buy the magazines, or, the easiest and most acessible way, would be to download pdfs of the magazine online, search for magazine scans or watch flip-through videos. Here is my yt playlist with Flip-throughs of gal magazines. Papillon Magazine is a free download gyaru magazine by gaijin gals for gaijin gals
Ask for concrit. Concrit is short for constructive criticism, and its extremely helpful to improve your look quickly. However sometimes concrit is given without being asked for, if another gal goes out of their way to give you advice or give you a heads up that your makeup doesn't read as gal, don't take it personally, they're not trying to demotivate you or challenge you, they're just trying to help you improve. This doesn't apply if they're being rude or straight up insulting you, constructive criticism needs to be constructive after all.
Practice, practice, practice! Practice makes perfect so keep trying!
Experiment with different makeup styles. This is helpful to find your own style and see what fits you and your face the best.
Avoid super natural makeup looks right of the bat. No, i'm not asking you to do yamanba lol Its kind of a known fact in the community that its a lot easier to start with stronger makeup first and then tone it down than the other way around. That way you're more familiar with the key elements and know which ones to tone down and which ones to tone up so it still looks gal.
You need to know basic skills first. Like learning how to apply eyeshadow, foundation, do contour for your face shape etc. If you're completely new to makeup don't be discouraged there are lots of good and easy makeup tutorials for this on YouTube!
For the love of god, stop adding white to your droop. I'm probably gonna get hate on for this, but it must be said: white on the droop doesn't work for gyaru (most of time) unless you're already experienced and the rest of your makeup is equally as dramatic to make up for it; Otherwise it looks out of place and makes it look more like dolly or cosplay makeup than gyaru. Plus, the white makes it harder to see the beautiful eyeshape you created with your droop imo. If you wanna add white to your eyemakeup, do so on your namida bukuro, it makes your eyes more 3d-like, make them pop more and it makes your eyeshape stand out more.
Invest in lashes and lenses. Unless you're doing very oldschool looks, they make a world of difference, and without them, you're not going to get the exact same results you want. If you wanna invest in something, at the very least, get good upper lashes, because unless you want very natural looking lower lashes, you can still draw them on or fill in the droop with black, but you can't do the same with upper lashes. Amazon and Aliexpress have great options for lashes that are both affordable and work for gyaru, gyaru style lashes should show up under key words like cosplay, dolly or manga lashes (just make sure to check the reviews before purchasing!)

That's it, thank you for reading! Apologies in advance for any spelling mistakes lol

[Coord/Make Pic] First time attempting gyaru makeup
galleryi think I did pretty good for it being my first time, and not being very good at makeup generally :3 This is mainly for the eyes, because I dont currently have a blush, and I'm planning on getting a better white eyeshadow and bigger lashes. I did try to do my nose but because my white isn't very pigmented it doesn't really show (and I just stretched my septum today so my nose is sore and I don't want to touch it too much haha) Tips are appreciated, but I don't plan on using fake tan or and probably isnt gonna get contacts either because I'm autistic and don't like having stuff in my eyes. I'm leaning mostly towards goshikku gyaru

[Advice] ♡Just some tips for tanning♡
So I've seen a concerning number of people in gal communities talking about using tanning beds. And I'm in NO WAY a medical professional, but as someone who used to work at a salon where they offered bed tanning services and as a naturally brown skinned gal, Imma just tell yall DO NOT USE TANNING BEDS. EVER. NO MATTER WHAT! They are EXTREMELY harmful for your skin. The UV rays (primarily UVA rays) that tanning beds omit are 100's of times more powerful than the sun's rays. And the chances of developing melanoma are significantly increased with every singe session. First off I wanna say, and some people may disagree with me but I really don't give a damn. You DO NOT have to be tan to be gal. For ANY substyle. Don't listen to ppl pushing the whole "kuro/shiro" thing. Any person that tells you that you have to change your skin color to engage in fashion, does not have your best interest in mind and does not care about you. You're perfect the way you are and there's nothing wrong with your complexion! And frankly, I'm tired of people acting as if you have to sacrifice yourself or your health for "the look". But, if you choose to tan, here are a few tips I have to help you be safer and look amazing♡
Like I said. NO TANNING BEDS. PERIOD. There's a reason they're completely banned in multiple countries. I don't care how many other gals say they do it. It's not safe.
DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) is your best friend. It's the primary ingredient in all self tanning products, including both indoor and outdoor tanning lotions. It tans the skin gradually without ANY need for UV exposure. So its perfect for fair skinned people or people who want to avoid UV rays. Though, it may also be used along side UV exposure as long as proper skin protection is used when tanning. I recommend Starlet by Designer Skin or Directors Cut by Jwoww for higher end products. For more affordable options, I recommend Extreme Blackout by Snooki or Black Chocolate by Brown Sugar.
If you choose to tan outdoors in the sun, ALWAYS USE SUNSCREEN. NO EXCEPTIONS. And make it habit to check your daily UV index so you can take proper safety precautions before you tan or even if you're just going out.
Any natural tan (even a base tan) is indicative of UV damage. Keep that in mind always and make sure to practice proper skin care everyday to help your skin repair and replenish. (You should be practicing skin care anyway, yall♡)
Your average spray tan lasts about 1-2 weeks before your skin starts shedding it. So be sure to get your sprays regularly to keep it fresh! If you tan outdoors, I recommend that you invest in a good tan extender. A tan extender helps lock in your melanin for a longer period of time so that you dont have to tan as often. (Natural tans fade gradually) Less exposure is always better than more. Most tan extenders also act as a daily moisturizer. I recommend Angel by Designer Skin (I LIVE by this lotion) or the Autrailian Gold Hemp Nation tan extender line.
If your tan is patchy or if you have pale spots, I recommend applying a tiny bit of self tanning lotion to the spot and letting it set for a few hours and it should even it out more. I also recommend using a DHA spray and targeting those spots for touch ups. There's a spray called DermaDark, also by Autrailian Gold that works amazingly for spots that are hard to tan.
If you live in the US and dont have a local tanning salon storefront or a lotion store, then I recommend shopping at Lotions2go.com. They're very reliable and the owner is super friendly and helpful in my opinion. Tanforless.com is also pretty popular and reliable, but the owners are weirdos (for lack of a better word), and not very nice people in general if I'm being honest. So if you care about that sort of thing, I'd stay away.
You can only get as dark as the lotion is. So if your DHA lotion is more subtle and lighter colored, don't expect to look very bronze when you use it. This applies to anyone regardless of your natural complexion. So if you're already dark skinned, and your lotion is lighter than your complexion, it wont do anything for you other than maybe add a more vibrant tone to your current color due to the "citrusy" tint that DHA tends to give off.
Don't tan to a complexion that's too dark for you. I'm not even gonna explain this one too much lol. If it doesnt look right, don't do it. "Tan" does not equal "Brown". You want to look like you've been to the beach, not look like a whole other person.
Tanning and makeup mean absolutely nothing if you don't take care of your natural skin. This sort of calls back to point number 4. But no matter what your compelxion looks like, no matter what your makeup skill level is, no matter how cute you may be, healthy skin will ALWAYS elevate your look. Use a gentle facial cleaner, a good toner, a deep moisturizer, and sunscreen. YOU define the fashion. The fashion doesn't define you. So take care of YOU first before spending a whole bunch of money on cosmetics. And this goes for anything. Having the most expensive extensions, the longest press ons, the cutest outfits, and the most extravagant makeup doesn't matter if your pores are clogged, your hair is greasy, and there's dirt under your nails, gurl...
Anyways, sorry that was long! I hope this helps some people :3 ♡♡♡

I feel like my makeup has reached a good point but the lack of circle lenses really dulls it.
Do you guys have any recommendations for GOOD prescription circle lenses? I've tried three different ones from Pinky Paradise cause thats what is always recommended to me and one pair was like nothing at all and the other two literally burned my eyes so bad I couldn't physically wear them (wth). I also have astigmatism so maybe that's the problem but I'm really reluctant to layer contacts because my friend is an optometrist and has seen 3 people with severe damage from it.

[Advice] Trying gyaru inspired make up for the first time + do I need a certain attitude to be gyaru?
galleryI have been curious about some different jfashion styles for a while now and thought to try out gyaru. The thing is I don't know if my personality matches the main point of being confident and rebellious - I'm more of a quiet person. But still when I managed to do that eyeliner I felt more confident and want to keep experimenting!
Edit about attitude I mentioned in the title - I did some research and came to a conclusion that wether I want to try gyaru, lolita that I have been liking for quite a long time or other fashions one of the main points is selfexpression. Trying new styles and dressing differently helps me exlore different sides of myself without needing to change who I am. I can just dress up for myself at the end of the day. I feel a bit awkward asking a question that was asked several times, so I wanted to self reflect a bit in the open if anybody has similar problem.
And if you have any critique about my makeup I am open to hear it.
About makeup, I was more gathering what I found and tried to do smt similar not following exact tutorials. I would use a white pencil(I'm very new to makeup and don't know how half the stuff is called) next time for inner corner instead of that sparkly thing I have at hand.
