Originally, it was a personal mod that took weeks upon weeks to finish, but now it's complete, and I've chosen to release it to the public to see if my work paid off or not.

Just got finished having to reinstall GTA’s enhanced edition due to a botched OpenIV install. Had to struggle a bit to get an easy way for people to avoid the same fate.

Basically:

Make a second modding folder, you can name it GTAVMod.

Copy your GTAV_Enhanced.exe. (This creates a backup.) Then copy and paste that exe into the GTAVMod folder.

Rename the GTAV_Enhanced.exe to GTA5.exe in the GTAVMod folder.

Setup and Install OpenIV.

Run OpenIV, select GTA V for windows, and choose your created mods folder instead of the default game path.

Install whatever OIVs you need, copy over the installed files without OpenIV.asi. (Use OpenRPF.asi instead.)

And you have a modded GTA without needing to re-install everything if something goes wrong. Just remove the files you added from GTAVMods to uninstall.

If you have an error installing an OIV file, you may need to copy over a .rpf from the update folder. Check the error logs to see what files to copy as needed.

i basically get black screen after the rockstar logo at start and when i deleted it my game launches and runs like normal but mods stop working, and i literally play with mods all the time so is there a fix please?

I can launch game in offline mode and when I disable battle eye but that won't let play online of course but if I enable battle eye game just won't open , this didn't use to happen before

I'm using windows 11

EDIT: worked for me by changing power plan to performance

but the game randomly crashes still

system ->power and battery ->power mode

Some of you may know that you cannot play on public servers when using Linux. Since Rockstar didn't enable/allow (idk how it works exactly, this is how others have phrased it) BattlEye for Linux and Mac, Linux users will usually get kicked from public sessions.

Linux users can play with others, but everyone in the session needs to have done a workaround. And since...:

• it's fun, and kind of the intention, to play Online with others; and
• some of the most fun content is impossible solo (such as most heists); and
• the built-in social functions, as well as social club are so limited in communication; and
• because I couldn't find anything like this yet,

... I figured I'd make a Discord where everyone has the workaround, so we can play with other Linux players, and Linux-friendly Windows players.

It's a work-in-progress for now at least, depending on interest of course also, but I've included some simple verification against bots/scammers already to be safe.

Requirements are that you behave (respect each other, no discriminating, etc.; the usual), use the workaround (even on Windows) so others can play with you and you can play with others, and no hacking/cheating.

The idea is that members of the Discord can easily find others to play with, and/or add each other as friends on Social Club, and/or join a Crew on Social Club to join Crew-only sessions. whichever works best. Personally I'd like to play in a friendly manner, being able to do delivery quests and such without being attacked for extra money, but maybe we can by default have a peaceful session and a PvP session.

I also hope there'll be heisting and such together, with or without voice. Also with respect to the chosen method of approach (stealth, aggressive, etc.).
