Just started Watching. On Season 2. Spoiler

I just wanna sit down and rant with some The Fosters and Good Trouble fans. I'm not trying to attack anyone, and if you disagree, I'd genuinely love to hear why!

Callie: Girl, I love you, but making the same stupid mistakes over and over gets annoying. PLEASE learn.

Mariana: She can be so horrid sometimes, but I know she means well. I just don't think she's very emotionally intelligent. She spills everyone's secrets and genuinely cannot keep her mouth shut. It's insufferable sometimes, but I still love her. Also, I REALLY wanted her with Evan. Raj is a sweetheart, but I hate that whole "Who do I choose?" storyline shows always do.

Jamie vs. Gael: CALLIE, PICK JAMIE. From what I've seen, he's a great man. Successful, kind, supportive, patient, and most importantly, he actually LEARNS. I adore him. Gael isn't bad, but he seems so lost and unsure of what he wants in life. The back and forth aint it. The answer is obvious. Yes, he's attractive, but not THAT attractive like everyone makes him out to be. Jamie is handsome too! (Also, Evan is adorable.)

Malika: I love how strong and determined she is, but some of her decisions really bother me. Being part of the reason Callie lost her job was bad enough, but then laughing while people were shit-talking her? Girl, that's your FRIEND. Callie isn't a saint either, but come on.

Davika: I CANNOT STAND HER. She's pretty, but my God, she's horrid. You knowingly get involved with a married man, help destroy a marriage, and then act like the victim when his wife calls you out? HELL NO. And now she's trying to clap back at Jeff's ex-wife? THE AUDACITY.

Before anyone starts with the "Only the husband is responsible" argument, STOP. Jeff deserves every bit of hate he gets, but if you knowingly sleep with someone's husband, you're wrong too. Both can be held accountable. Apologize, accept responsibility, and move on. I actually like Dennis because at least he acknowledges what he did to his wife was wrong and regrets it. I wish he'd call Davika out too.

Alice: She's adorable, and I love her so far. PLEASE don't ruin her. I'm just glad she's finally moving on from Sumi.

The Foster Family: I LOVE this family, but does EVERYONE have to be struggling all the time? I get it, life happens, but can we please have ONE person who's just happy and doing well for once?

Anyway, thats my little rant. . Just keep in mind I'm still watching, so these are my opinions SO FAR!

Edit: On Davika, Just saw her saying the clap back was to herself and such and she knows she did wrong? I guess. S2 EP11. Uh.

Is it worth powering through?

I was enjoying the show initially, but now I’m kind of not. I’m on s4 for reference. Maybe it’s because Callie left. Idk. But I think Mariana doing the whole double agent thing for BB is so stupid. I don’t care about Divia’s burlesque career at all, but that might just be because I really don’t like Divia that much. I don’t care if she gets back with Dennis or not. Atp Alice is just so self sabotaging that it’s impossible to root for her anymore. I don’t care about Malika’s polycule, especially since her new love interest (can’t even remember her name) just feels like she lacks any kind of substance or personality. I guess the dude looking for his sister was kind of interesting at first but it still hasn’t gone anywhere and just feels random and tertiary. I also don’t think he has any real chemistry with Mariana. It’s obvious that something is gonna happen between them, but I’m not actually rooting for it to happen (especially since they’ve barely even interacted and the interactions that they’ve had feel so forced). I like BooBoo Stewart (sorry this show has so many characters and I am just really shitty with names) but again, he’s kind of tertiary. Even though theoretically there’s a lot going on, and I love a true ensemble cast, I realized that I’m just kind of getting bored with the show, even though it initially pleasantly surprised me (I’m a big fan of The Fosters and honestly did not think “Callie and Mariana take on the big city” as a premise could stand on its own, but I think they actually did some really cool things with the show that I didn’t expect). I’m wondering if this is kind of a lull that I’ve hit with it or if maybe it’s just not for me.

Doesn’t anyone else find the Jamie and Callie relationship weird?

Spoilers, I guess?

I understand that Jamie and Carter were introduced as Eliza’s brothers because of the whole rushed ending situation. However, I find it super weird that three Fosters ended up dating basically the whole Hunter family!

Like Jude and Carter I can even understand as a “met through our siblings but ended up falling in love” but considering the whole Callie and Brandon situation having them end up with siblings is super weird.

I think they could’ve had the Jamie character as is without making him Eliza’s brother.

Do they not wash their hands

I know it’s TV, but like you see people running into bathroom stalls to escape something, they don’t wash their hands after touching the door, even sitting on the toilet in their clothes. You also see people grabbing the toilet to throw up and not washing their hands after.

Flair I haven't watched TF again since it ended—literally almost 10 years ago—but while I'm thinking about rewatching it, I remember the ending of GT and think: in an ideal world, I would have loved to see a bit more of these characters in GT before / during the finale.

Can we talk about how terrible Davia’s musical is?

Like if the show wasn’t before AI I’d have sworn those songs were whipped up on ChatGPT.

Davia and Gael

i absolutely adore their friendship and i’m so grateful they stayed platonic!! especially around the whole burlesque storyline, how he supports and boosts Davia’s confidence. i always love seeing a heteronormative relationship being platonic and supportive, it just makes my heart burst, i also love how Luca was introduced into the later seasons, i’m still on season 4 so idk what the future holds but it has gotten me super invested ever since Callie left the show.

Danny’s Song

Oh lord - just watching Good Trouble for the first time and WOW Dennis’ and Davia’s cover of Danny’s Song is genuinely horrible. I had to mute the show - why are they yelling??? I get the sense there will be more singing from them … but I really hope there isn’t.

Good Trouble was making me more un-woke

I'm all for social justice but goddamn every episode felt like a drag to get by. Especially S1 Malika like she really thought Callie had the power to change an outcome of a whole ass trial. Like homegirl just started working there. Can we talk about Mariana wanting a raise and a whole team to work under her her first week at the job. Not only that but when in a Million years is head of HR confiding in a newly employed employee. If I was Marianas coworker I would have filed an HR complaint against her the way she was moving to get herself to the top. Gaels sister getting fired from her catering job at Speckulate event was also unrealistic because that is literally against California Law. Did anyone feel Malikas friend group were also a huge stereotype. If anyone wants to see an actual Black friend group. HBOs Insecure is the show for you and they actually highlight the realistic issues but also a show where you can sit down and have fun watching it and not feel it's a PSA for woke Twitter on steroids.

Episode Discussion Lena and Stef Spoiler

A lot of people find Lena and Stef insufferable.

Sometimes they may be so frustrating and annoying, but sometimes they are an incredible example of love, kindness, and every other emotion couples may have.

They show what true love can be in family and how to support one another during hard times.

I’ve been watching S5 E4 and the way that they are helping Mariana with such a hard decision was absolutely incredible same with how they helped Gael.

I love their relationship

Evan s5 E1 Spoiler

Evan is my favourite character he’s so interesting. I’m up to the cult episode where he gets shot.

I am actually so sad about that

Just finished the show

I’m so sad that I finally finished watching the show, I watched The Fosters growing up and now I have nothing else to watch with them <\3 Show recs???

SPOILERS

I am so beyond happy that Mariana and Evan ended up with each other, I would’ve been distraught if it was Joaquin. I actually did enjoy Joaquin’s storyline as much as I see people disliked it, only thing I’d change is I don’t see the point in making him a love interest for Mariana they should’ve just been close friends.

Callie ending up with a white cisgender conservative man with her history of exes is honestly insanity, they kinda destroyed her character in my opinion but I mostly watched both shows for Mariana anyway.

I could’ve done without bringing Isaac back just to make him have an addiction and do nothing with that relationship. Malika’s entire plot with dating honestly is infuriating. Left Isaac because she’s poly, tried to tell Isaac she would be monogamous for him, insert everything that happens in the poly relationship, in comes Angela who she ends up also being monogamous for? Seemed like they did not want to commit whatsoever to a polygamous relationship so why even start that?

I’m glad Davia and Dennis ended up with each other but the plot with the dad and his child kind of just started and ended then boom Davia and Dennis for life.

I feel like they gave Alice an insane amount of screen time and that was the character I was least interested in story wise but that’s opinions based maybe everyone loved her idk.

Gael never once knew what he wanted or what he was doing, kind of just a slop of a story they threw together for him but he was great to look at.

I loved Luca and I wish we got more time with him in the show honestly but I am a sucker for Booboo Stewart, go Twilight. I know we would’ve gotten more if the 6th season came out as planned, but I’m happy he ended up with Ladle nonetheless.

Episode Discussion Why is Mariana convinced Isabella slept with Raj?

I just started season 3 and it ended with both Mariana and Raj admitting they had feelings for Evan and Isabella but what I don't get is why Mariana's making them out to be the bad guys for sleeping together (even though it's kind of clear they didn't) when she actually slept with Evan and then afterwards lied to Raj about it. I don't really care for Isabella's character she gives me bad vibes that she's messy but I think if she slept with Raj we would know cause it does seem like she is supposed to be the antagonist of the show so if they slept together they would've showed it.

Plus she openly admitted that she slept with her last roommates boyfriend but is actively denying that she slept with Raj. She seems like the type to rub it your face that she slept with your boyfriend but she isn't doing that. So to me it seems like Mariana's only placing the blame cause she feels guilty that she slept with Evan. Anyways what are yalls thoughts about this?
