Pretty new to golf, just trying to learn a solid swing, but there’s something I noticed.

I see a lot of elite golfers who get behind the ball on every swing. I’ve heard the skipping rock theory, and I feel like this is where it comes from. But I don’t hear a lot of advice about getting behind the ball at impact. Maybe it comes natural to some, but I feel like I’m standing over top of the ball and I don’t get the feeling of being behind it.

2 years in and I'm still terrible

Hi. M26, been playing for about 2 years. About a 25hc. The clips in sequence:
- Normal 6i swing
- Thinned 4i swing
- Pulled 4i swing
- Thinned + sliced driver swing
- Normal driver swing

P-5i are usually manageable. Typical miss is a straight pull (all clubs) or slice (driver). I struggle to get the ball up with my 4i but it feels so good when i hit it flush... I know my swing, especially driver is super out to in. Any advice/drill suggestions are welcome🙏🏻

New golfer here, what would you fix about my swing?

Hello folks! I started playing about 2 months ago. I’ve seen some other newbies get pointed in the right direction in this sub. Struggling with consistency and plenty of slices to the right!

Roast away (or preferably feedback)

At an 11 handicap. Was 2 round a year sorta thing. This year was first year playing a lot and played 40 rounds.

Definitely engrained habits.

Was never shown how to swing or taken a lesson. Actually first time I’ve ever seen a video of myself swinging and looked more awkward than I thought I did.

Looks like a pretty short backswing and a pretty weak hip turn at impact at the very least?

Thanks for any feedback

Back playing after 15 years out. Zero consistency. Zero clue

Could be a hook, could be a slice, could be a shank, who knows. Shooting 90-100

Moving swing path

I’ve been playing for about 3 years and have gotten my handicap to a 14. My miss is a pull typically except for when I try to swing more from the inside, which then leads to a block. These misses get worse with longer clubs. Any drills or advice to achieve a more neutral path?

Can’t flipping stop flipping

I know, I know, “get lessons.” Unfortunately I can’t afford them right now.

Anybody have some drills that they swear by?

All tips welcome

really trying to work out the dip but no matter what I do seems like I can’t keep my head up.. besides that it’s just a super inconsistent swing. Averages about a 98-104 and have been stuck there for months and months

Thanks in advance !

Struggling with 70-90 yard distance control with my 56° wedge

I hit my 56° wedge full swing around 105–110 yards. I normally use this wedge for anything inside 100 yards.

My current struggle is attacking greens from 70, 80, and 90 yards. I really battle with consistent distance control here. I’m stuck deciding whether I should limit my backswing height or just reduce swing power on the way down.

Whenever I overthink it, the shot falls apart. I’ll either shank it or hit fat shots. Super frustrating.

Curious what everyone else does for partial wedge distances. Do you manage distance by adjusting how far you take the club back, or by throttling down swing speed?

How's my swing and also question on a messed up hit.

Hello people! I just started around the beginning-ish of this summer. Been religiously learning through videos online, getting some coaching from my brother (he has 5 or so years experience), going out to practice at least a couple times a week.

Today I went to the range to practice my woods. Hitting a 7 wood in the video. For the most part (4/5 times I'll hit it pretty well, but the 1/5 i either chunk it, or it is like punched out (like the third shot in the video)

In the video, there are 3 shots. The first 2 I hit it well, the third one punched super low and I'm not sure what I am doing differently.

Firstly I just want to know people's thoughts on my swing and any adjustments I should do to make it more comfortable as I feel a little off balance after making contact with the ball.

And secondly I wanted to understand why I'm punching it low kind of often.

Any glaring errors?

25 HCP. I struggle with consistency and Slicing seems to be my main issue. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thank you.

7 HCP almost breaking through. Any advice? (7 iron)

Keeping my legs really grounded and generally atheltic with the lower body. Big change. Then I just focus on tempo and fpllow through. Its working well. I feel my head drifts away on my downswing and sometimes I'll toe it.

Working on maintaining forward bend. Still have improvements to make, but making progress.

Hit like 20 of these in a row last range session with 6 iron. Got such a good feel going with just staying relaxed as possible.

Improving the swing - where to start?

I want to improve my swing. I know I have trouble with weight shift / transition, sequencing, letting my hands fall into the slot, just coming over the top...

My current miss is mostly a pull ( my shoulders spin out, if I have a bad day focusing on keeping my back to the target longer it helps)

Where would you start improving?
Does it make sense to focus on one issue for x minutes and then on another one in one range session. Or better to try to fix one thing until it is ingrained?

Also using SwingCoach - I think it helped me a lot with my setup - getting in a more balanced position. With the swing however I believe it misses a lot of things..
On this swing for example most things are green with a few 1s (hip forward, hand close at impact, swing plane shallow half back/half down) and head up by 2 at top...

Also in general since I am mostly OTT I wonder if I can still be shallow / on plane at delivery and then still OTT?

Just trying to understand as much as possible about my swing to improve :)

Edit: I setup with my stance closed on purpose, trying to promote a more in to out swing path

Getting stuck inside?

I started playing last May and immediately took lessons for 3 months. Initially was over the top/O-I with a fade or slice but I overcorrected and my swing path is now very I-O with a push or hook miss.

I had a L5-S1 spinal fusion about 3 years ago which limits my rotation and upper/lower body separation some. I’ve been focusing on reducing my inside takeaway and weight transfer at the top.

Constructive criticism is appreciated, but tear my swing apart! I’m not sure if one issue is causing another or if they’re separate.

The two videos aren’t the exact same swing but a few minutes apart and both a 7 iron and decent/average results.
