Question Why is everything about God of War 2 more brutal?
I'm currently playing GOW3 fighting through the Hades section, so far none of the combat set pieces feel on par or better than GOW2. Is it the excess style over substance because everything about the 2nd part feels more personal, the stakes feel higher, the story and pacing so much better. Quite disappointed so far but let's see.

Discussion I Wanna Fight Young Kratos in Laufey So Bad
Imagine one of the Greek gods the the Everywhen wants to show Fey just how much of a monster her husband used to be in his early life. At some point, we go toe to toe with young Kratos, and he actually uses his combos from the original games in his boss fight. Just remembering the fight with Begste just gives me goosebumps imagining how violent and hype Fey clashing with young Kratos would be.
Edit: I'M NOT SAYING FEY HAS TO WIN‼️I'M INDIFFERENT ON WHO WINS, I JUST WANT TO SEE THEM FIGHT‼️

Discussion I might be in the minority (if there even is a minority), but I prefer GoW 2combat over GoW 3
I always found that GoW had its own unique school of combat, and there are games that follow that style, like heavy sword and castlevania lords of Shadow, both of which I love
But GoW 3 tried to follow the DMC school of combat, which isn't a bad thing at all it's just not my cup of tea
GoW was always a heavy hitter game, yes it was slower than DMC, but that's what I loved about it. I felt like I had control over every single button press rather than just button mashing

Discussion That symbol under the gate in the oracle card is actually Ishtar symbol
Maybe a hint of Ishtar begin here in the game and come to think about it in one of her myths when she goes to the underworld she stopped in 7 gates each toke parts of her powers and clothes.
My theory Is that one of the big villains in the game might be Ishtar sister ereshkigal who rule the underworld and basically everyone in her domain is powerless even gods fear her and respect her.
What do you guy's think I would like to hear your thoughts.

Discussion The Fenrir/Garm twist and the way they adapted the actual myth is still the cleverest move I've ever seen in the series
In Norse mythology, some sources suggest that garm and fenrir were originally the same wolf, while others treat them as two separate creatures. So how did ragnarkk handle this ? They adapted the both interpretations
The way they handled fenrir was brilliant, fenrir was introduced as atreus's pet wolf, only to die at the beginning of the game, with part of his soul transferred into Atreus's knife, and later, atreus learns about soul transfer magic, which sets up what comes later and learns about the soul in his knife
As for garm, they made him the guardian of Helheim's gates, and since he was the wolf guardian of Helheim, they made him soulless, and since garm had no soul, atreus was able to transfer fenrir's soul into his body, literally giving birth to fenrir (just like in the myth, Loki is the father of Fenrir and the one who gives birth to him)
And that's how you adapt mythology and make a brilliant twist out of it
And yes ragnarok's writing can be all over the place, but sometimes it can be brilliant, and this is one of them

Question Light of Alfheim
I was wondering, what’s happened when Kratos steps into the light?Does every god can do it? Later in the game when someone hears about that, they seems surprised that he survived, and how the hell Atreus killed so many elves?

Discussion I Think We'll See Brok Again Spoiler
I've seen quite a bit of discourse online about whether Brok could appear in Laufey, given what we learned about his soul in Ragnarök. But I think its a real possibility.
1. Why I think Brok could end up in the Everywhen
Mimir explains that every soul has four parts: Form, Mind, Direction, and Luck. He specifically says that “Direction steers the souls” of Giants, Dwarves, Elves, and animals toward the Lake of Souls in Alfheim.
When Atreus asks about Brok, Mimir explains that because Brok is missing Direction, his soul “can't reach the Lake of Souls” and has been “denied an afterlife.”
But notice the distinction here. Mimir explains why Brok can't reach the Lake of Souls. He never explicitly says that Brok's soul has ceased to exist or that it can't end up somewhere else entirely.
Now we know the Everywhen exists, a separate realm beyond the afterlives we've previously known about. We also know Faye ended up there after her death, despite being a Jötunn, a group Mimir explicitly includes in his explanation of Direction.
So what if Brok's soul, having no Direction to guide it to the Lake of Souls, ended up somewhere completely different? Being unable to reach one afterlife doesn't necessarily mean a soul can't end up somewhere else.
2. Would seeing Brok again undermine his death?
I understand this argument, and I agree that bringing Brok back to life and returning him to the Nine Realms would undermine the tragedy of his death. Sindri's refusal to accept losing his brother the first time ultimately cost Brok the afterlife he should have had. That needs to have consequences.
But I think there's a difference between bringing Brok back to life and giving his story some kind of resolution.
Personally, I'd love to see Faye help Brok find peace in the Everywhen. Maybe she could somehow make him whole so he can move on, help him find a permanent place there, or something else entirely. He wouldn't be returning to his old life, and Sindri would still have to live with the consequences of his actions. Brok finding peace doesn't mean Sindri gets his brother back.
I also think this could give Sindri's story a meaningful resolution in a future game. Imagine him eventually learning that Brok found peace, after grappling with his guilt and working toward forgiving himself and Atreus. That doesn't undo what happened, but it gives his journey somewhere to go.
Ultimately, I don't know if we'll see Brok again. But I think there's a middle ground between bringing him back to life and having his story end with his soul eternally lost. I think Santa Monica's writers are capable of finding that balance.

Discussion Sindri breaks my heart every time I play
The writing and acting in the entire game are superb in my opinion, but nothing beats the anguish and rage you see in Sindri once Brok dies. Oddly enough, the part that gets me the most is that Sindri becomes dirty. After Brok dies, he stops wearing his gloves, his hair becomes disheveled, his face is dirty, and his armor is covered in blood and rust. It's a detail that shows without speaking how far unraveled he becomes, since he was obsessed with cleanliness previously. I'm really hoping we see some sort of peace for him in Laufey. I'd also go for an anti-hero arc where he starts killing gods to end the havoc they create on the realms.

Help I own the Standard Edition of God of War 4 on PS5. Is there a way to upgrade to the Digital Deluxe Edition for the exclusive
I bought the Standard Edition of God of War (2018) back in 2024 on PlayStation, but as a completionist/collector, I really want to have the Digital Deluxe content (like the Death's Vow armor set and custom shield skins) in my inventory. I checked the PS Store on my PS5, but I couldn't find an official standalone "Digital Deluxe Upgrade" pack. Is there any way to upgrade my existing Standard Edition to the Deluxe Edition without paying full price again, or do I have to wait for a sale on the Deluxe Edition to buy it over my existing copy? How did you guys handle this if you wanted the Deluxe items later on? Thanks in advance!

Discussion Ares was really bad at strategy
Ares knew that Kratos loved his family. He could have easily send them to the Furies for protection or in a pocket dimension or something until Kratos' mission ended. He was right at believing they were holding Kratos back, but not in the way he believed. If Kratos became ready to destroy the gods alongside Ares, his family could have easily be used as a means to blackmail Kratos. Also, if Ares wasn't so blind and arrogant, he could have easily blamed the Gods for his family's death with the excuse of their death being a punishment from them for all Kratos had done and he would have a far more ruthless and determined Kratos in his service.

Question A plot hole or a deliberate lie?
When Atreus and Thrud find Garm in Hel, he mentions that he can feel Garm's feelings of being chained up and requests her help to release him. But in Ironwood, it was already established that Atreus can't read the feelings of soulless creatures, which is Garm's case. So I wonder if it was an oversight by the devs or Atreus just lied to Thrud so she'd be more willing to help?

Discussion First Time God of War Player!
Growing up I was a PlayStation kid (2&3), but then transitioned into Xbox one and got away from PlayStation. Well, now I’m in college and returned to PS to play/replay some exclusives I was interested in (TLOU, Spiderman, first light, etc…) after finishing these I needed something new to play in advance of the Wolverine release and chose GOW 2018 since it was on sale. Well, my preordered copy of Wolverine still has not been played, as I was hooked in GOW and finally got the plat trophy today for 100% the game (I hate ravens). I feel like I say this every time I play a PS exclusive, but this is one of my favorite games of all time. It is absolutely up there for me with TLOU, RDR2, and other favorites. It is the first game I 100% since RDR2 in middleschool, so that should tell you something!
Now, what do I play in the franchise next? I don’t care about chronological order obviously, I just want another beloved GOW game that has gameplay that will suck me in like 2018 did.
Also! I have heard nothing about GOW Laufey aside from the fact that it is releasing in February. Does the community think this will be worthy of a preorder?
Thanks a bunch!

Collectible Platinum Ps3 Ghost of Sparta
I friggin did it. The wraiths suck, but bossfights are just learning. The unscathed challenge took me a while though. My tip is to use the arms of Sparta, hit the cyclops 5/6 times, qte, then hit each gorgon until circles, kill both in quick succession, kill the fire birds asap, with spear, 3 hits, then as soon as you even think you see a spider, spam the scourge. Then the eye for invulnerability, and you be done quicker than you thought. Good luck fellow Spartans seeking this who haven't gotten it already.

Cosplay Begste sword
I like making replica weapons from various games, and since we’re still waiting for the release of GoW, I designed and 3D-printed the Begste sword. Now comes the hardest part for me: painting it nicely.

Question Odin's Mischief
Why do you think the mask signal stops when Fenrir was released by Atreus and Thor's daughter ?
Is the mission of Heimdall given by Odin could be links to that ? Did Odin knew Atreus was wrong about the 1st translation and tried to punish him ?
